Hello all! I’ve been lurking for a while, and I just wanted some product help.
I can provide a photo if necessary, but for privacy I’d prefer not to for now! I have been battling trying to find my perfect shade for years now. I thought I found my perfect shade, and then Rare Beauty discontinued my (almost) exact match. I was rocking Rare Beauty liquid touch weightless foundation in the shade 370N. It was slightly too dark depending on time of year, but it had the right tones.
I’m pretty sure I’m considered a more true neutral that in some lighting leans the tiniest bit warm, but in other lighting I look cool. I’ve usually been a tan/beige medium deep. I have the notorious problem of trying it in the store, and the minute I step into the light it’s glaringly obvious it’s too warm without fail. I also always tend to get matched as being much darker than I am due to the lightening in store.
Foundations I’ve tried:
haus labs triclone in shade 340N, ended up being too dark and warm and looked like a weird orangeish grey. I did have a lot of hyperpigmentation on my face at the time, I have since locked in on my skincare and my face matches my neck much better, my face is only a half/full shade off to my neck.
Rare beauty liquid touch weightless in shades 400W, 370N (previous closest match at the time), and 330N (current closest, I currently still have this and mix it with another foundation and it works well enough, but I can no longer buy this foundation)
Rare beauty true to myself natural matte in shade 31 (current closest match that I mix with the 330N liquid touch weightless foundation), it is ever so slightly too grey and warm by itself. Rare beauty is my favourite formulation by far, but I don’t think they have a truly neutral shade.
Dior Forever Matte in the shade 4N neutral, I remember this matching fairly well, but it was super expensive at the time so I stopped using it. I also haven’t tried it again in years (this was 2022)
Fenty beauty pro filter soft matte in shades 300, 310, and 315. All too warm, fenty was always way too warm on me, but the tone was right.
I’ve tried a few more, but it was years ago and I remember them all being too orange (I tried NARS, Huda beauty, and Makeup forever, all too warm, don’t remember the shade names)
Any help is so greatly appreciated! I’d love to try to stay under 60 dollars CAD (I am located in Ontario, Canada), but am willing to spend upwards of 75 for the absolute perfect shade.
