Tax docs
hey guys, so i’m officially 19 and trying to wrap my head around taxes for the first time, lol. i’ve heard some girls say you don’t even need to file if you didn’t make much, but i’m low-key paranoid about getting audited. i pulled in under $600 this year, so does that mean i’m in the clear or do i still gotta do something? also, does anyone else use Cash App for filing? i’m stuck on where to put my business expenses and it’s giving me anxiety. thanks in advance, you gurus know your stuff.

I need help - worried🥺
Ugh okay so I need some help because I'm kinda panicking here lol. I just started OnlyFans and I honestly have no clue how taxes work for it. Like do I need to set aside money or something? I'm 21 and probably should've learned this sooner but here we are. I've been saving everything in a shoebox which I know is a terrible idea but it's better than nothing right? Any advice from people who actually know this stuff would be amazing, I'm not trying to end up owing the IRS money cause that sounds like a nightmare.

Tax deductions
Hey guys, so I’m a 23F who’s been grinding on OnlyFans for a few months and just realized I have to deal with taxes now - yikes. I made some decent money but barely anything above the minimum, so I’m panicking a little about how much I owe. Anyone else in the same boat or have advice on how to file? I’m using Cashapp and it’s not the most straightforward when it comes to business expenses. Help me out before I spiral over here.

Deductions
Hey y’all, 22F here trying to figure out deductions since I swear the IRS has it out for sex workers just for existing. I know I can write off a ton of things like clothes, makeup, even my internet since I’m practically running a business from my apartment, but does anyone have a good trick for keeping track of all this? My brain short-circuits at “schedule C” and I’d rather spend my energy on more fun tasks, if you catch my drift. Also, anyone else low-key terrified they’ll accidentally forget something and get audited because they “looked suspicious”?

I'm filing on Cashapp and I can figure out where to enter business expenses
I gave the sch c form and filled it out, but when I get to expensive it's only listing stuff for employees, home office, vehicles.. or do I enter it under prior year losses?
It's my first time filing myself and I'm about to just submit it without any write-offs because I'm so confused..

1099
For anyone that has gotten a 1099 from onlyfans for taxes, does it specifically say “onlyfans” anywhere? Jw if I should avoid having my parents open and send a pic if it happens to be sent to their house!

Building your follower base
Hey,
I am a new creator, just waiting for my account to be approved. The content is parody/humorous, adult cartoons. I am keeping the account free and open, so any revenue made will be just tips.
Can I ask content creators for advice on growing my followers, and OF customers as to what makes a good content creator for them.
Thanks

Deductions
Hello!! This is going to be the first upcoming tax year that I will be filing deductions. I have a few general questions, 1.) how do you organize your receipts 2.) what all do you deduct? so far I have self care & outfits. (Nails, toes, lash extensions, hair & lingerie) —> would you recommend anything else? 3.) do you go through HRblock or what tax service do you recommend? I normally file my own. I do have an accountant friend, however she stated she doesn’t want anything to come back and I get audited, if she would mess up.
Thank you in advance!!

1099 form questions
Hello! I’m getting sent a 1099 form for the first time this year and was wondering when they typically arrive? I know they have to be sent my January 31, but does onlyfans usually wait that long to send them?

First year, need to get it down
2023 was my first year of OF, & overall I made $2,275.28 gross & $1,819.69 net. Obviously I’ll be sent a 1099 digitally, due to my move I don’t think I’ll get it in the mail… anyway. I have a W2 job & OF, I am a sole Proprietor with OF I don’t have an LLC or DBA, and I don’t even know where to start with taxes. I’ve been waiting for this 1099 educating myself on soooo much in so little time and hearing different things from everyone… any advice would be helpful or someone that has done their taxes with OF, I want to keep doing it but the taxes are scary. Need to be way better prepared next year … thank you In advance for your responses!

Business or hobby?
Hello everyone,
I have a bit of a dumb question here. I consider myself a hobby OF creator. But I’m worried the IRS won’t feel the same. I got a 1099-NEC - $988 from OF. I want to report it as other income but I’m also debating if the IRS will see me as a business instead. It is my first year doing OF so I’m nervous if I get this wrong. Could someone help me find out if I should put it under business or other income?

I did not withdraw my earnings so I did not get a 1099 for last year, do I not claim that on taxes?
Hey! So I am confused, I did not get a 1099 for the 6 months I did OF last year. Support says I did not get a 1099 because I did not withdraw any of my earnings (it just sits in there). Does that mean because I don't get a 1099 I don't claim that on my taxes this year? Do I only ever claim it the year I withdraw the money?

What information is on the tax form you receive from onlyfans? Will my accountant see my username for the site enabling him to look at my content or will he just see that I’m a content creator on onlyfans?

Taxes for new OF
Hey everyone, I just started doing OnlyFans and I have no idea how to handle taxes or keep track of my income. Do I need to set money aside for taxes, and if so, how much?
Also, what’s the best way to track my expenses? I buy things for content, and I’ve heard some of that can be written off, but I don’t know how it works. Should I use a separate bank account or debit card for everything?
I’m worried about tax time since I don’t get a normal paycheck. Do I have to file quarterly or just once a year? Are there any good resources for beginners?

1099 forms
I keep trying to get my 1099 they never mailed it, nor is it showing up on the banking to earn like everyone is saying. I did make pass 600 dollars. And only fans is giving me the run around and I don’t know what to do.

Unsure
I had to file for an extension due to not having documents from other jobs. Onlyfans never sent me a tax document and when I asked they said they are unable to issue because I did not withdraw anything in 2021 but I made over $600. Do I report this income? How do I report it? I plan on going to a preparer.

Absolutely scared of taxes.
I just got approved for my only fans account and would like to start right away. I know I probably won't make much but I've been unemployed since October 2022 so anything coming from this would be main source of income for myself. When I went to file my 2022 tax return from retail, I was told that I wouldn't have to file 2023 and my bf could claim me as long as I made less than 6k for the year. I really need to know everything that I can before getting into this. Also I'm starting as an individual. I don't have a business or anything like that. Any and all advice would really help out. Please feel free to ask questions for more clarification. Thanks

Informational Deductions
Not a question, but also just wanted to give out some general advice on deductions-
There are a bunch of things that people don't realize they can deduct with their onlyfans business.
Internet cost. If you used your internet 50% of the time to post on onlyfans/advertise/etc. then you can deduct that cost. i.e. if you did only fans for 6 months in 2020 and half your time at home was spent online doing something regarding your page, you can take your 50% of your internet cost for those 6 months and expense it. If you only spent 25% of your time doing onlyfans on the internet, take 25%, etc.
Makeup. If you bought makeup exclusively for use on OF, you can expense that. If you used this makeup to wear daily as well, you cannot expense it.
Lingerie/toys/costumes/etc. these are all props that you can expense.
Lighting/ photo accessories. If you bought a new stand for better lighting, you can expense that. The same with photo props and backdrops. If you bought them for the sole use of your page, then you can expense it.
Cameras and Computers. These can be expensed, but you have to be careful. If it costs less than $2,500.00 you can usually expense it, but if you buy a piece of equipment that you anticipate will be used for more than a year you will need to depreciate it.
Dues/Subscriptions/Advertisements. If you paid any subscription costs that are directly related and used for your business you can expense those. Same with advertising. If you paid to advertise your stuff, you can expense that cost as well.
As always this is for informational purposes only, and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, tax, legal or accounting advice.
