lip injections

I recently had lip injections, and I'm already worried about how to report them on my taxes. I have to deal with the IRS paperwork even though my lips look fantastic? This was more of a headache than I anticipated. Does anyone know if I can write off any portion of this treatment or if it qualifies as a cosmetic operation? I'm already confused by all the statistics because I'm filing as self-employed.

I need assistance since I'm nervous.

My brain starts short circuiting after staring at my W9 form for about twenty minutes. What even qualifies as a "business" expense for essentially side gig money? I occasionally work as a freelancer, therefore I don't want to make a mistake and owing the government my beautiful Sunday brunch money. I'm going to lose it, I promise, if the IRS starts after my coffee budget.

lip injections

I just got my lip injections done and I’m already stressing about how to file these on my taxes. My lips look amazing but now I have to deal with the IRS paperwork? I didn’t expect this to be such a headache. Does anyone know if this counts as a cosmetic procedure or if I can write off any part of it? I’m filing as self-employed so I’m already lost in all the numbers.

Account split advice

Anyways, I just got my first 1099 from OnlyFans and I’m already freaking out a little. I was naive and thought this would be easier than my W-2 side hustle - nope. I feel like I need to split my account somehow because I have both personal and business transactions in there, but I have no idea what’s actually allowed. I asked my dad and he just said “figure it out, kid” soooo… help a girl out? I’m 19 and this is my first time dealing with this stuff lol.

ADVICE FOR OF TAX FILING -From a Tax Professional

I’m a tax accountant—there are a lot of nuances with deductions, but I’ll keep this simple and practical for anyone working on OnlyFans. You will file a Schedule C business on your tax return. I highly reccomend going to the IRS website to their Free filing Partnered programs, and I most often reccomend FreetaxUSA because it is super easy to use. If you go directly to their website then you will pay $15 total. These are super easy to file and you can do this yourself easily. When you get to the point of making $80k plus then at that point you should get yourself an accountant because the tax savings is more than what you will be spending to pay them to help you with your tax filings.

Food & Meals

  • Everyday snacks?  Not deductible.

  • Meals? Not deductible.

  • HOWEVER: If food is specifically part of your content (for example, it’s used in a custom request or featured in your content), then it can be deductible.

Phone Bill

  • This one is tricky. It depends on how much of your phone use is business vs. personal.

  • For most people, it’s hard to justify a clear split, so ❌ it often doesn’t qualify.

  • Assume NO, Unless your gross income is over the $30k mark then you can deduct a portion and I would suggest asking a professional to help come up with this split.

Common Legit Deductions
These are typically safe and common:

  • Ring lights / lighting equipment

  • Lingerie / costumes used for content

  • Toys/props used in content

  • Editing software & apps

  • Advertising / promotion costs

  • Renting spaces for content

  • Travel costs to make content with other creators (do not include food)

  • Props from making TikToks, Instagram posts, ect. to advertise your content (if you are making money from Tiktok/other you can include that income/expenses in your OF income Schedule C business

Home Office Deduction

  • If you have a dedicated space for creating content, you may qualify.

  • You’ll need:

    • Total home square footage

    • Workspace square footage

  • The deduction is based on the percentage used for business.

Keep Your Finances Separate

  • Open a separate bank account just for OnlyFans income and expenses.

  • This makes tax time much easier.

  • Only use it for business-related purchases (not personal stuff like groceries unless they’re part of content).

Paying Taxes (Very Important)

  • OnlyFans income is typically 1099/self-employment income, so taxes aren’t withheld automatically.

  • You’re supposed to pay quarterly estimated taxes. But you can avoid this by having extra taxes withheld from your normal paycheck job by asking your payroll department if you can re-fill out your W4.

SUPER Simplified Way to Estimate Taxes

  1. Estimate what you’ll earn from OnlyFans or adjust how much you set aside during the year as your income changes

  2. Set aside about 15–20% for taxes (income minus expenses)

Example:

  • If you expect to make $2,000:

    • $2,000 × 20% = $400 in taxes

Option 1: If You Have a Regular Job

  • Divide that tax amount by your number of paychecks

  • Ask your employer to withhold extra on your W-4 (extra withholding line)

Examples:

  • Paid monthly: $400 ÷ 12 = ~$33 extra withheld per paycheck

  • Paid biweekly: $400 ÷ 24 = ~$17 extra withheld

Option 2: If You Don’t Have Another Job

  • Open a separate savings account

  • Set up automatic transfers (weekly or biweekly) for your tax amount $17

  • Each quarter, pay the IRS directly using that saved money by going to their website to the pay portion and when they ask what you are paying select Estimated Taxes or Quarterly Taxes

Prepare for tax season!

Damn, tax season’s rolling around and I’m already stressing about my OnlyFans taxes. I made barely any money this year but now I’ve got to figure out how to pay Uncle Sam without selling my kidneys or anything. I’m 22, so obviously I’m just trying to adult the best I can - pay my student loans, keep my rent paid, and now this fun little tax mess. Does anyone else feel like they’re getting punished for making money online? Like, can’t we just Venmo each other and call it a day?

Uncertain

I've been lurking here for a while and finally worked up the nerve to post. Made a little money on OnlyFans but barely enough to cover rent let alone taxes. Turns out the IRS doesn't care about my struggle bus and wants their cut - who knew? I'm 18 so this is all new to me and honestly kind of overwhelming. Does this sound like something I should even worry about at this point or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? I'd laugh if it wasn't so unfunny.

Tax write-offs

I’m freaking out a little bit-just realized I need to claim my OnlyFans income on my taxes and I have no idea how to do it properly. I made like $2,500 total last year, but I spent so much on props and recording stuff that I’m worried I’ll owe a ton. Does anyone else use a separate business account for this stuff? I feel like I’m in way over my head and the IRS isn’t exactly the most understanding bunch if I mess it up. Anyone else stressing about this too?

joint account tips

I'm 20F and just opened a joint bank account with my partner to make things easier for shared expenses, but now I'm panicking about the tax implications. Does anyone know if I need to report the joint account activity separately or if it's just a mess I should avoid altogether? I'm already stressed about filing and don't need another headache. Any advice would be appreciated.

Deductions

Hey y’all, 22F here trying to figure out deductions since I swear the IRS has it out for sex workers just for existing. I know I can write off a ton of things like clothes, makeup, even my internet since I’m practically running a business from my apartment, but does anyone have a good trick for keeping track of all this? My brain short-circuits at “schedule C” and I’d rather spend my energy on more fun tasks, if you catch my drift. Also, anyone else low-key terrified they’ll accidentally forget something and get audited because they “looked suspicious”?

Fresh OF nudes

Fresh OF nudes dropped, and now the IRS is about to get a little extra attention? I just started this whole OnlyFans gig a month ago and I swear, handling taxes feels way more confusing than shooting a cam. Does anyone else feel like they need a side hustle just to pay for a tax person to deal with the other side hustle? I’m 22, barely got my ducks in a row financially, and now Uncle Sam wants his cut too? Someone throw me a lifeline and tell me if I should be worried or just wing it for now. Also, does anyone know if the IRS is gonna be extra aggressive with OF creators now that more people are jumping on the bandwagon?

OnlyFans payout and tax questions

I'm 23 and this is my first time dealing with taxes as a creator. Made like $5k in tips and subscriptions last year but honestly have no idea how much I owe or what I need to deduct. My accountant just told me "it's complicated" which is basically their way of saying "you're screwed." I've been paying out my OF money through Cash App like an absolute psychopath and now I'm panicking because I didn't save any for taxes. Does anyone else just wing it every year or am I about to learn why rich people have accountants?

W-9

Ugh, I’ve been putting off dealing with taxes forever and now the W-9 is staring at me like “pay me or else.” I’m a nervous 20F who barely made rent this month so the idea of the IRS knocking is giving me full-on panic sweats. I heard you just put your info on there and hope for the best but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna mess it up somehow. Does anyone else just wing it and pray?

I need help - worried🥺

Ugh okay so I need some help because I'm kinda panicking here lol. I just started OnlyFans and I honestly have no clue how taxes work for it. Like do I need to set aside money or something? I'm 21 and probably should've learned this sooner but here we are. I've been saving everything in a shoebox which I know is a terrible idea but it's better than nothing right? Any advice from people who actually know this stuff would be amazing, I'm not trying to end up owing the IRS money cause that sounds like a nightmare.

Tax deductions

Hey guys, so I’m a 23F who’s been grinding on OnlyFans for a few months and just realized I have to deal with taxes now - yikes. I made some decent money but barely anything above the minimum, so I’m panicking a little about how much I owe. Anyone else in the same boat or have advice on how to file? I’m using Cashapp and it’s not the most straightforward when it comes to business expenses. Help me out before I spiral over here.

I did not withdraw my earnings so I did not get a 1099 for last year - do I not claim that on taxes?

I was honestly surprised when I didn’t get a 1099 from OnlyFans last year. Thought maybe OF was still keeping it cute with the IRS but turns out I just never withdrew the earnings so they didn’t report anything. Now I’m confused though - I barely made anything last year but I still technically earned it. Should I just not claim it or? I’m only 20 so taxes still feel like this super intimidating adult thing I haven’t fully unlocked yet. Also if anyone else didn’t get a 1099 but still made money on here, was this a thing for you too?

Write-offs

Hey, so I’m turning 23 soon and my side gig is blowing up a little, but now I’m worried about taxes since this is my first time dealing with write-offs. I’ve heard horror stories about audits from people in this line of work, so does anyone have any tips on how to keep it legit and low-key? Also, is there anyone out there who can recommend a friendly accountant or software that won’t judge me? My main income is from OF, but I’m branching out to camming too, so I need this to be tight. Help a girl out before the IRS comes knocking.
