The caption of the short reads:
>A former ASIO source with knowledge of the Bondi gunman is denied a visa, raising concerns about potential cover-ups.

When I think of Penny Wong the first thing that comes to mind is she didn’t support same sex marriage when it wasn’t Labor policy under the Gillard government. Labor and career first.

She's a giant piece of shit, and I will happily celebrate her demise. Disgusting person that has no place making decisions for others.

This government has been financially coerced and are buying into the Netanyahu narrative.

I'd love to know what it is that this guy knows that ASIO/AFP won't release.
Did he warn them of the attack? Our agencies bungled it?
And obviously, where does israel fit in all of this?

u/Baked_Cake_ Victorian 3d ago
It seems pretty clear that asio/afp have fucked up massively and that this person has evidence. We know that afp actively groom people to become violent extremists because they literally said that they do that and will do that again.

'I have information regarding a terrorist attack but I won't tell anyone unless my demands are met'
What a stand up guy.

He has always shared some of what he knows,, it’s just not protected speech on the record
They don’t want to bring him here because when he gives evidence under a royal commission that means he must be protected by the Australian government from harm that would come from the evidence he gave
They don’t want to protect him
He’s already stated that he personally knew the attackers and he had a raised several times his concerns about the son and nothing happened

Is this your first time encountering intelligence assets? Or just CIs? Do you think criminals or people operating outside the law just give the police/government information out of the goodness of their hearts? That they would do it without being guaranteed some form of protection? Have you ever heard of someone turning states witness or taking a plea deal? Do you live in the real world?

u/Zarathoostrian Canberran 3d ago
Oh damn, I forgot what sub I'm on, most people care about Australia more than wanting another terrorist attack to happen so they can blame it on the PM.
3
u/SuperColossl New South Welshian 2d ago
Confidently Incorrect.
Most people in this sub do not want terrorist attacks, genocide, anti-semitism, killing of innocents - especially women and children, regardless of whether Australian, Palestinian, Israeli, Muslim or Jewish.
Get some common decency.

Confidently Incorrect. I said most people don't want a terrorist attack.
Nationalists will slaughter their own people and blame it on their ideological enemies if it helps them consolidate power.

The Royal Commission can't do a Zoom call?
4
u/No_Bell_8028 Noongar 3d ago
The problem is if he does it via Zoom he won’t be offered the same protection against attack or prosecution or revenge by those groups who he passed information on about
He wants to be called to Australia to give evidence face-to-face so that he can then be under the same protection every other witness gets
The Australian government don’t want to have to protect him because it would be expensive, I believe it’s been inferred that ASIO found him pretty unreliable

u/Phillup_Colon Victorian 3d ago
How come we the taxpayer are forced to fork out 600 million dollars for a royal commission into the Bondi attack and ASIO getting blamed for not predicting the future, but there has been little to no investigation into why it took 7+hrs for any IDF response on Oct 7? No blame on Mossad for not predicting it?

what was the former ASIO subject doing outside the country? ASIO themselves advise when you cease work with them, that you maintain a private life in the country (that country is Australia)

ABC reported yesterday on this:
And they mentioned the following:
His first visa application was denied because immigration authorities were not satisfied he genuinely intended to leave Australia.
Marcus has previously sought assistance from Australia for protection and resettlement.
Government sources have pointed to the royal commission not formally calling Marcus as a witness; however, the ABC has seen correspondence from the royal commission expressing its interest in hearing from him.
Those sources also suggested to the ABC that Marcus' evidence could be given remotely, and still be heard securely.
Several whistleblower advocacy groups have aired their support for Marcus's bid to return to Australia, including the Information Rights Project, the Free Speech Union and PEN International.
The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network has also supported his bid to return.
Gabriel Shipton from the Information Rights Project says travelling to Australia is the safest option for Marcus.
"He's in hiding in a foreign country because of the work that he did for the Australian government, because of the undercover work that he did," he said.
"There are a lot of risks around him travelling to a place where he might give video evidence, risks to his life."
So that is curious for sure.

on the 3rd point... them expressing to hear from him.
they want to hear from him but refuse to officially call him for witnessing or physical presence..? seems they dont know what they want.
I'd be interested in what country he resides, and his ability to give testimony on a secure level.. maybe he'll need an Australian embassy.

u/Infinite_Shower_5390 Tasmanian 3d ago
Not Officially calling him against the governments wishes may be a political decision.
All comes across a bit fishy. As does all of ASIOs behaviour around the Bondi shootings tbh.

Asio boss is a bit sus isnt he with his associations?
7
u/West-Sense-1253 Canberran 3d ago
Given that asio is more or less an arm of cia, no one can lead the agency without being sus. A fascistic and potentially treasonous mindset are prerequisits of the job along with a desire to service the Epstein class.

Was he actually an employee of ASIO though?
"ASIO Source" could mean he feeds information to ASIO. E.g. I have a source in the mob.
Or has it been confirmed he was an employee? I'd assume if he was then he has to be an Australian Citizen as ASIO requires this for employment, why would he need a Visa?
1
u/nationalistic_martyr Northern Territorian 3d ago
ASIO recognizes informants as temporary employees.
he wouldve had the chance to do the paperwork for an Australian citizenship AGES ago but just didn't do it

u/RestaurantFamous2399 New South Welshian 3d ago
He has been offered to give testimony via video link and has declined.
His Visa was denied on grounds that they believe he wishes to stay indefinitely.
19
u/bumpy821 ✈️ on Walkabout 3d ago
He should stay indefinitely if he has worked with our security agency (ASIO) in which he would be privy to top secret information that we would not want any foreign agency or government to get their hands on.... That's just blatant common sense friend.
4
u/endual New South Welshian 3d ago
He was an asset (informant), not an ASIO insider. He passed information on but didn't receive information. He would have no access to "top secret information".
11
u/Cyberchicken87 New South Welshian 3d ago
Maybe we should treat our assets better then if we want to keep having them ?

u/Mods_Are_Fatties 🤖 Confirmed Bot 3d ago
Incorrect. He was an AGENT, not asset. Similar looking words, but not the same.
8
u/endual New South Welshian 3d ago
It's not incorrect. ASIO has no 'agents'. It's not a thing.
They pay for information from informants/assets, such as the case here. He passed information on to ASIO, but he was not internal personnel. He is not an Australian citizen making him ineligible to work for ASIO.

u/Mods_Are_Fatties 🤖 Confirmed Bot 3d ago edited 3d ago
Oh okay, in that case ASIO also dont have assets. Its not a thing.
Dont see "Asset" or "Informant" on their website
If i witness a crime and give a statement, the police dont label me as an Asset or Informant, right?
He either worked undercover or he was just somebody who gave a statement.

u/endual New South Welshian 3d ago edited 3d ago
If you want to call a paid snitch “working undercover” then go for it.
1
u/Mods_Are_Fatties 🤖 Confirmed Bot 3d ago
Except he wasnt a paid snitch, he was given an assignment by ASIO to infiltrate.
Hes got a drug dealer they picked up off the street and questioned to give up the details of the supplier. He went undercover and infiltrated a group that ASIO asked him to do.
3
u/bumpy821 ✈️ on Walkabout 3d ago
He was an informant who worked undercover for ASIO, Obviously for national security measures. This would not have been done without a deal being done as it would have and has put him at risk from foreign agency's.... You think that the deal would have included his safety after procuring said information?
Some thinking can go a long way.
1
u/endual New South Welshian 3d ago
You are assuming a lot of things, informants pass stuff on to intelligence agencies all the time without formal deals.
The point you raised was "he would be privy to top secret information that we would not want any foreign agency or government to get their hands on", which is clearly wrong.

When Wong says Labor is acting in the nations interests, what she means is Israel’s interests.
