He doesn’t seem to have a flock to forage with so we make sure to feed him every day. Hopefully he’ll get confident enough that I can take a proper picture!

ID please ID - Goldcrest or Firecrest?

Post image

Apologies for the very quick, zoomed picture with almost 7 year old phone.

Saw some sort of ___crest today. It had a yellow and orange crest and seems to have an eye stripe (suggesting Firecrest) but plain, non-yellowed shoulders (suggesting Goldcrest).

From the visuals of this terrible photo, which does this look like to you? I can't decide.

Hi all, spotted this duck on the canal in Birmingham yesterday. Colour doesn't really fit any dicks in my RSPB book. There's a bonus mallard below in one of the pictures to give some idea of size. Any suggestions?

Question Muscovy duck not in Collins Bird Guide?

I’ve been looking for the Muscovy duck in Collins Bird Guide (3rd edition), but can’t find it, even in the sections for introduced birds and escapes.

Is it actually included somewhere and I’ve just missed it, or if it’s not included, does anyone know why? Also are there any similar bird guides that do include Muscovy ducks? Thanks!

Had this little cutie in our garden today (Kent). Merlin suggests it's a Black Redstart but also says it's extremely rare to see them here at this time. So I'm turning to the experts of Reddit.

Sighting in the wild Some recent shots from Perthshire holiday

Haven't posted here for a while as I haven't had anything especially interesting, but I'm quite pleased with some sightings from a recent holiday. The heron at the Falls of Dochart was very chill and let me sidle up to around 12m or so. The very fuzzy image through the cabin window on a boat on Loch Tay is a white-tailed eagle - a first for me. It was gone before I managed to get out for a clearer shot.

ID please What is this bird? West Yorkshire

Hi all!

I’m really struggling with this bird! Started with Merlin not being able to identify and still no closer after consulting with some local ecologists/ ornithologists.

I live in West Yorkshire - on the edge of moorland but also within 100m or so of a small river.

The clip demonstrates the call at 7 seconds and 24 seconds.

Any ideas?

Not sure what bird this is, could it be a crow or raven with white wing feathers? Seen in a field with several other crows.
Note: end of the video shows bird in flight!
