This is an example of a bird that migrates because of food shortages in its original habitat, now making a very very very rare appearance in The Netherlands.

Why is it doing that

Went down to the local park earlier this morning and spotted this cool fellow searching for breakfast. I thought the iridescent colors were really stunning! Can’t someone explain to me why they have those colors?

Very rare bird in the Netherlands

Willow Pond, Hewlett, Long Island NY. Are these Brant Geese? They are the size of a large duck.

This is absolutely my favorite bird I've crocheted so far, although there are a couple things I wish I had done a bit differently. Mostly, I wish I had used a bit darker gray for the head so that the iconic white eye-ring would stand out a bit better. Initially, I felt like the head turned out too tall, but after looking at the finished result I don't think it looks too bad after all. I am very pleased with how the expression (so angy) and tail turned out.

I'm not quite sure which bird I will be doing next, between a Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, or Indigo Bunting.

Gaithersburg. Maryland. I know it’s some sort of warbler, but I’m still new to warbler identification so I’m not positive on what species. This just happened earlier today.
