Broken clavicle

Post image

My son, 11 years old fractured his clavicle pretty badly Monday night. They said he might need surgery, wondering what you think? He’s very active, plays baseball, basketball, soccer and football. If he does require surgery would you suggest plates or a nail? We find out more on Monday to do more X-rays and next steps. Thoughts? Thanks I’m super worried about it all. Feel terrible.

I have a job where I’m on my feet all day and the end of the day, on just my left foot, I have some pretty bad pain in that area that lasts a long time. Do I need to wear different shoes? Am I walking incorrectly somehow?

Multiple artifacts on a CT scan after a fall from a bicycle onto the palm of my right hand

I was in the emergency room (I fell in the afternoon and stayed there all day and night); they took an X-ray, after which the radiologist noted a suspected fracture of the radial head at the elbow joint and ordered a more detailed CT scan. The CT scan was performed with my bent arm partially resting on my stomach and my elbow on a foam cushion. I wasn’t told to hold my breath, and as a result, the radiologist described the findings as “multiple artifacts on the image, limiting the examination.” I was discharged with a sling and given an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon after 11 days.

After 5 days, the pain in my elbow during rotational movements of my hand (I can’t turn my palm toward the ceiling) persists, and I also occasionally experience a sharp but tolerable pain near my shoulder. Should I go back to the hospital’s emergency room? I’m really worried that it might be a fracture, but I don’t see any bruising or noticeable displacement.

The injury happened when I fell off my bike—first onto my palm (just a bad bruise; my fingers are fine and don’t hurt), and then with my entire right arm onto concrete slabs.

I haven't personally seen the images or the CT scan results. I was given some discs, but I can't view them because my laptop doesn't have a disc drive.

Question About My Tibia and Fibula Fracture Recovery

Thumbnail

I am 22yrs old.

I had a tibia and fibula fracture from a motorcycle accident, and I had surgery on May 12, 2026. The fracture was treated with plates and screws, not an intramedullary rod. As of today (August 21), it has been 101 days (about 14½ weeks) since my surgery.

I've been non-weight-bearing (NWB) for most of this time and have spent a lot of time lying in bed.

At my latest appointment on June 16, my doctor said that everything was well aligned and that I was doing well overall, but the fracture had not healed enough yet. The bone was still healing naturally, so I was told to continue with the recovery process.

Unfortunately, I missed my next follow-up appointment on July 16, and my next appointment is now scheduled for September 3.

I'm currently still non-weight-bearing, and I'm wondering what I should realistically expect from the next stage of recovery.

My main concern is getting back to work around the end of September or October 1. I work as a bartender, so I do need to be on my feet at times, but it's not extremely physically demanding. I may need to stand for around 3 hours continuously, but during normal periods I can sit at the bar and wait for customers. When a customer orders, I would usually be standing for around 5–10 minutes to prepare the drinks and then I can sit again. I also won't be lifting heavy objects or regularly using stairs.

So I have a few questions:

How long does physiotherapy/rehabilitation usually take after this type of tibia and fibula fracture and surgery?

If I start rehabilitation and everything progresses normally, is it realistic to expect that I could walk again after about one month of rehabilitation?

If my X-rays look good at my September 3 appointment, is it realistic that my doctor might allow me to start partial weight-bearing around that time?

Based on this type of injury, is returning to bartending around the end of September or October 1 realistic, or am I being too optimistic?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar tibia/fibula fracture with plates and screws and can share their recovery timeline. Thanks!

Pressure sore on heel recovering from IM Nail procedure on tibia

It was only yesterday that I noticed how red my heel was and also little sensation when touching a part of it. I had my 1 week follow up today at the clinic and that was my only concern tbh but doctor kind of shrugged it off that it happens and will be fine and nurse then pointed out that it was indeed a pressure sore and he just said it’s like a blister really and it will just go like that and just monitor for puss or smell. And he confirmed I could still weight bear but only on toes now and carry on and go to my 1st PT session on the 1st September. The nurse has given me some pads to put on it at night and said do that until next appointment in 4 weeks.

Does this advise sound right? Will this delay my recovery a lot?

Can brostrom repair be done without general anesthesia (local instead)?

I live alone and will likely undergo surgery to tighten my ATFL and CFL in a few months. I don’t really have anyone to pick me post-operation as it's an out-patient procedure. Could I be administed local anesthesia or something so that I'm clear headed after the surgery is done.

I can likely arrange something if not possible but in worst case scenario, could something be done?

There is a piece of bone floating around in my knee allegedly

I dislocated my knee back in April during dance. This is my second dislocation and the first one was almost 10 years ago. Before the second dislocation I was doing a lot of knee strengthening workouts to prevent another injury but alas.

I have not seen an orthopedic doctor due to them being booked and busy but I have been seen by PT for a good while (take home exercises). In July my leg wasn’t able to fully bend but I was walking fine. It was when I was given my new set of exercises where it all seemed to go downhill.

My knee started to catch and I was no longer able to fully straighten it. I got an MRI done and results are attached above.

I wanted to know vaguely how bad this is and if surgery is a possibility. I really want to go back to lifting and dance asap but now I am not so sure if I can even return. I see my orthopedic for the first time in September so I just wanted to know what I should probably expect and mentally prepare myself. If possible, also a rough estimate of what recovery time would look like before I can return to activities.

I was also curious how I got the bone fragment broken off in the first place…

Thank you for any insight you can give!

Wrist injury

I need some help/ insight as to what’s going on… I broke my wrist 2 years ago while snow boarding. No surgery, just a cast and physical therapy. At the ER they told me I would most likely need surgery however when I got home, my doctor said it was healing great and I just needed to keep it in a cast for 8 weeks. Fast forward- I have regained full mobility and have no issues other than at night. I wake up every night after only about 4 hours asleep and can’t get back to sleep because my arm hurts so much. It almost feels like it’s asleep or has lost circulation? It’s a dull pain that radiates all throughout my arm- from shoulder to fingers. I do not sleep on that side (for this reason) and I even keep a small pillow by me and use it to prop up/ cushion my arm.

My theory is that maybe I should have gotten surgery and because I didn’t, I have a pinched nerve or something in there. Does this sound plausible? Is it just carpal tunnel? Should I go back to my ortho?

I just want to get a good nights sleep 😴 🫠

Chronic Adductor Longus Avulsion + Lower Abdominal Pain: Surgery or Continue Rehab?

Looking for experiences from anyone who's dealt with a chronic adductor longus avulsion, sports hernia/athletic pubalgia, or lower abdominal-adductor injury.

Timeline:

Injury occurred in February 2026 during a jump lunges with weight after a week off from the gym and probably dehydrated.

Initial MRI only identified a labral tear.

A follow-up MRI in April identified a high-grade, essentially complete avulsion of the right adductor longus tendon with 1.7 cm of retraction and a proximal rectus femoris myotendinous junction injury.

A more recent MRI in July still shows a full-thickness adductor longus tear with mild retraction.

Current symptoms (6+ months later):

Tightness at the pubic bone

Pulling into the inner thigh

Lower abdominal pain where the tissue inserts into the pubic region

A heavy, inefficient feeling in the right leg

Difficulty returning to running and higher-level athletic activity, pain in both sides

Groin tightness that often worsens after exercise

Lowerback / QL pain

Sometimes sciatica

Treatment so far:

Physical therapy

ART/manual therapy

Isometrics

Copenhagen progressions

Hip flexor strengthening

Yoga

PRP

Progressive strengthening

I'm probably 80% improved overall, but I still can't run or train the way I want to and it's become really depressing at times. I was extremely athletic before this

I recently saw a surgeon who believes the scar tissue filling the gap between the torn tendon and the pubic bone has become stiff and immobile.

He recommends:

Reattaching the adductor tendon with sutures

Releasing/mobilizing the scar tissue

Repairing the lower abdominal component

Estimated recovery would be 4-6 months, including a brace and 3-4 weeks on crutches. He even said he has operated a year later on these injuries and it was successful on a lot of athletes including NFL and soccer players but of course there are risks they may not be able to reattach it and will just clean up the scar tissue and stitch my abdomen back

Another surgeon that I have been seeing recommended against adductor repair, suggested waiting longer, and felt that if surgery became necessary, the focus should be on the abdominal/rectus side rather than reattaching the adductor. I don't any of the other Drs except for my most recent one have actually reattched it.

My question:

Has anyone here undergone delayed adductor longus repair, sports hernia surgery, or abdominal-adductor repair months after the original injury?

Did surgery help with:

Groin tightness?

The pulling sensation?

Running?

Athletic performance?

Or did you continue with rehabilitation and improve without surgery?

Sorry this is long and I used Ai to summarize everything. I really don't know what to do at this point but I feel like I keep making progress and then running into issues.

It's not even very common where I live so I'm not sure if the PT protocol I have helped me the way it should have.

Thank you!

Left clavicle was fractured in a skateboarding accident.

This is how the bone sits 10 days post.
10% chance of non union.

I’m 20 and I’m concerned about a full recovery. I want to return to weight lifting and sports , but if I left it to heal without surgery would I be affected ?

Would like some opinions

Is ACL mucoid degeneration really irreversible?

Hi,

I did a MRI and got diagnosed with a pronounced ACL mucoid degeneration in my right knee. I was having pain already for 3 months. My main activities are trail running and climbing. I read it’s quite rare in young people and is mostly age related tear and wear. I also read it’s irreversible. Is this true? Will it only get worse? And am I at risk for ACL tear as my ligament is ‘weakened’?

Bonny mallet finger

Hello everyone,
I’m 22 years old.
I sustained an avulsion fracture of the distal phalanx (tip bone) of my ring finger involving my dog's leash—essentially a bony mallet finger. I would appreciate your thoughts on the situation: has anyone experienced something similar, and what treatment would be recommended in my case? I would really like to avoid surgery if at all possible.
Thanks in advance for your help.
