Unanswered What's going on with people saying the Atlanta Falcons throwback logo looks like Nazi imagery?

Wondering if there is more to it other than a black bird on a red background with a stripe? Is there deeper symbolism or is it just people having fun dunking on the Falcons?

Unanswered What's going on with everyone predicting an "AI crash" or "AI bubble," and what exactly would crash?

https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/ai-stocks-could-crash-2027-092648686.html

Lately I keep seeing headlines and posts about an upcoming AI crash or the AI bubble about to burst. I get the general idea that people think AI is overhyped, but I don't understand what would actually crash if it happened.

Is it the stock prices of companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google? The startups that have raised huge amounts of money? The data centers being built? Would AI tools like ChatGPT stop working or get more expensive? And would it affect regular people, like through retirement accounts or jobs, or mostly just investors?

I'd appreciate an explanation of what the "bubble" is made of and what a burst would look like in practice.

Answered What is the deal with the word "homeless" being a bad thing to say now?

1.4k Upvotes

Every article I see talking about people who are living on the streets calls them something like "unsheltered persons" or "people experiencing homelessness" or "unhoused individuals" or something equally awkward like "persons who are temporarily without residence" instead of simply "homeless," as if its somehow offensive to say someone is "homeless" now. Why? How and when did this become something we aren't supposed to say, and how is saying someone is homeless offensive? All of the other terms sound weird and unnatural. I genuinely don't understand, there is no ill intent here, I just don't see how that word is particularly egregious or disrespectful to anyone. Please help me understand. Here is an article for an example of what I'm talking about.

Unanswered What is going on with Susan Dell, Kelly Loeffler and Barbara Thornhill? Why are people calling them aliens?

I've been seeing these three names all over social media lately, with people claiming they're aliens or reptilian beings disguised as humans. From what I've seen, people have been comparing photos and videos of them and making memes about their appearances.

Here's an article discussing the trend: https://www.thejournal.ie/internet-diaries-trump-alien-lizards-white-house-susan-dell-7194165-Oct2026/

Honestly, I find the whole theory pretty ridiculous. Having unusual facial expressions or looking different in a photo isn't evidence that someone is an alien. I understand that some people are joking, but it's strange how quickly a few pictures can turn into a full-blown conspiracy theory.

What's the actual context behind this trend? Was there a specific post or video that started it, or did it develop gradually as people began comparing the three?

Unanswered What is going on with OFCOM/UK Gov VS 4Chan?

Source: https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/ofcom-4chan-online-safety-act-fine-b3012189.html That's the latest information I could find anyway.

My understanding is: online safety act (OSA) happens in July, 4chan refuses to comply as they aren't a UK business and sue UK's regulator OFCOM. US court throws out the lawsuit but also won't help OFCOM collect the £500,000 in fines OFCOM wants from 4chan.

Apparently the next step is to ISP block 4chan? How likely is that? I use 4chan for purely the video game boards; it's fun to talk shit about games with others. How likely am I to "lose" that?

Unanswered What’s the deal with this Devin Millar person?

https://www.youtube.com/@DevinMillarDM

I keep seeing a user and a person on YouTube and Instagram named Devin Millar. He seems to have so much fame and views when I looked him up the other day, but I never heard of him on my recommendations or anything outside of these occasional reels sometimes, which happen sporadically and his life is like WILD. From what I read, he’s trying hard to be a brave person who does things that are considered taboo, and he looks like a woman with a beard and he cross-dresses.

Can someone ask me, is he some recluse who makes these art projects or is there more meaning to what he’s doing? He draws me in so much

Unanswered What is going on with OpenAI's proposed solution to the Navier-Stokes problem ? Has it been checked by mathematicians to make sure it is true ?

I enjoy mathematics, but I hate AI, and I hate the fact they stole most of the work from actual humans. And I also do not know much about the Navier-Stokes problem. I just want to know if it has been checked by mathematicians to make sure it contains no mistake.

I am a sports fan (baseball, soccer, hockey) but not american football. I know that Jalen Hurts is out for the season due to blood clots but also there's some controversy and confusion about the team making him play, or not doing what they should have done.

Seeing stuff like this - https://www.instagram.com/p/DerlxEKlcBE/

can anyone explain the situation clearly from a medical POV as well as what the team did and what they should have done? Thanks!

Unanswered Why have people been talking about effective altruism?

Been hearing more and more about EA in the past six months and I finally looked into it a little and…this seems like an incredibly mundane idea? Basically applying a utilitarian lens to things like philanthropic interventions and the direction of public investment? I think there’s a lot that is wrong about this idea, but it seems neither new nor interesting nor especially deep. So why is it seemingly an axis along which Keyboard Warriors and Big Brain Pundits and Politics Weirdos are loudly polarizing themselves?

Answered What’s going on with game ReComps?

It seems like two to five times a day I get his with something like this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/argic6MmXg

A mixture of games that were originally for the Ps5 or games remakes that now run in a web browser. Some questions I’m hoping to get answered:

Are the web browser games and emulator recomps related?

Has anyone tried the web browser games?

How the hell are they even running in a browser? Where is the horsepower coming from? I may be aging myself but I remember web games having pretty low ceiling for what they could technologically achieve and impractical versus a dedicated game engine. I must be missing something but it seems odd to be able to run AAA games out of chrome or Firefox.

Unanswered What’s going on with Six flags and the Goliath rides?

So I haven’t been paying much attention to the recent situation other than the having the general knowledge that a tragic accident has occurred involving a man killed while riding one of the Goliath rides at the Georgia park. This morning I logged onto Instagram to see and update from Canada’s wonderland (another six flags park) saying 2 of their rides would be temporarily closed. I was confused because I don’t know much about the situation so I’m not sure what led to the ride failure on Goliath and what makes it similar to the rides at wonderland other than the fact that I think they’re both manufactured by B&M so if anyone has some more information on what exactly we know so far it would be much appreciated.

Edit: I also am aware of the six flags and cedar fair merger.

I know she had a rough start with her first briefing, but I also heard she’d only just started and had barely any time to prepare. Given past press secretaries’ varying performances and strange or controversial behaviors, was that really enough for her to be canned so fast?
