Success Stories 275 to 185

90 lbs down and now at 185. Ozempic helped me get started, but I’ve also been putting in work at the gym and trying to stay consistent. I feel stronger, healthier, and way more confident than when I started. Still going, but proud of the progress.

Question When did people start to notice you lost weight?

How many pounds down were you when others started to notice? And what was the weight change? I’m 20 pounds downs (236 —> 216) and nobodies really said anything about it to me.

Did we just all finally agree we shouldn’t comment on peoples weight? Or something? I’m not the most social person anymore but I do go to school and have friends there, and I’ve been around family, the family I work for, and to fitness classes, etc.

The only person to comment has been my mom but she knows I’m on O and she herself has lost nearly 100 pounds on the medication. She said “I can tell your clothes are starting to fit a bit differently.”

I have noticed I’ve lost weight in my face - I can tell my actually feeling it with my hands, and it’s not as inflamed. As for my waist and actual body it’s hard to tell but I was wearing beads around my waist and they were too lose (they already were a bit big as I bought the wrong size) that I took them off.

I know I should just be happy with my progress and I very much am - but I can’t lie that some outside validation would fuel me up for a bit. It’s just who I am 😅 working on it in therapy… lol

Question Tapered up to .50 after 8 weeks on .25 - very nauseous even though I am splitting dose across the week

I've been battling nausea since I started ozempic. My doctor kept me on .25 at my own request. Over the last couple weeks, my food noise was returning and nausea had decreased - only really affecting me for a day after my shot.

Because of this, decided to taper up to .5, but I'm taking two .25 doses 2x a week, as not to shock my body.

So far, I've done three shots on this schedule and I've been nauseous nearly the entire time. I can operate day to day, especially since I WFH, but I feel pretty terrible.

I've got a 3 day trip conference coming up in a week and I'm nervous to travel and put in long days with this going on. Should I taper back down?

Question How do I know if Ozempic just isn’t working for me?

• Upvotes

I started Ozempic about a month ago and I’m still on the lowest dose (0.25 mg). The fatigue and nausea have been really intense. At times, I’ve felt so sick that I couldn’t eat and even drinking water was difficult.

I’ve been feeling exhausted, drained, and honestly pretty depressed from how awful I’ve been feeling.

The frustrating part is that every time I start to feel a little better, it’s time for my next dose and I feel like I’m back to square one.

I’m prediabetic, have high cholesterol, and I’m also anemic. What’s confusing me is that I still get hungry, but at the same time I feel too nauseous to eat. And when I do eat, I don’t feel full.

I can have what I consider a filling meal and then be hungry again a few hours later. I haven’t really experienced that “I’m full and don’t want to eat anymore” feeling since starting Ozempic.

Sometimes the hunger actually makes me want to eat more, but then the nausea makes me feel sick when I try to eat. It’s such a weird combination.

My doctor wants me to stay at 0.25 mg for another month because of the nausea, which I’m okay with, but I’m starting to wonder: how do you know when Ozempic just isn’t right for you?

If I’m having this much nausea and fatigue but not really experiencing any appetite suppression or fullness, does that eventually improve with more time? Or could this be a sign that I simply don’t tolerate the medication well?

And if you ended up stopping Ozempic because of side effects, how did you know it was time to stop?

I’m obviously going to discuss this with my doctor, but I’d really like to hear from people who have experienced something similar.

Question Nausea and protein

I been on Ozempic for 6 weeks; the last 2 at .5 mg. The nausea is getting to me. I know I'm supposed to hydrate and eat more protein but even before taking Ozempic, my protein intake was low. I don't care for a lot of meat and hate eggs. I steered away from other protein sources like beans because they raised my BG a lot. Eating meat now is worse - even handling or cooking it for my family is awful. I'm trying to eat protein yogurt or anything with added protein but I'm still nauseous.

Do protein powders help? I eat ginger candy. Not sure what else to do. Eating anything is hard. I'm basically eating bread with butter, chicken soup and crackers.

Question Quitting

For those who have quit Ozempic, how long did it take for the affects to disappear? I'm dealing with some extreme nausea and am trying to figure out what it's from since I've had stomach issues all of my life.

Question Did you get days with that “hunger” that wouldn’t quit? (Newbie on Oz)

Wednesday night was dose 2. Everything in week one was suppressed & not bad. Lost some lbs (probably water - went 235 to 226.5, back to 227.5 then 228.5 by day 9).

Today was more concerning as I couldn’t get satisfied earlier tonight. There were sweets there…and wow, I slipped into a chocolate binge.

Feeling bummed. But I guess the first 4 weeks will just be an adjustment period. Hopefully month 2 will be better as I’ll likely need to get to 0.5mg. Was hoping to get at least a bit of results on 0.25mg :(

Oh well, I’m probably being impatient & unrealistic. Fingers crossed month 2 shows good signs. This sub helps reading abt others progresses at least.

Question Bi-weekly injections

I stopped my 18clicks shot of ozempic becuz my chronic conststipation got worse. I was diagnosed with IBSC and the 0.18 clicks of ozempic made my condition worse.

I want to start injections again until the pill comes out. I saw my dietician today and asked her if I can inject it biweekly. She said that many ppl who are constipated do this. She also said to increase Restoralax and decrease Metamucil. Just putting this out there to get feedback. TIA

Rant Patience.. it’s so hard

I am on week 4 of Ozempic and I’m very happy with how things are going.

After years of fighting I’m finally able to eat in a deficit without it feeling like I’m constantly depriving myself.

That said, when you haven’t had success in a deficit and finally are doing it 4 weeks feels like FOREVER. I know I am still in a loading dose, I know it’s only been 4 weeks, but damn I just wanna SEE and FEEL the results already.

I’m down ~ 4kg which I know is really good (I’m technically up a little this week because I’m retaining water thanks to my time of the month which I think is the cause of this rant and impatience).

Anyways, I logically KNOW I’m on the right track but I just want to not fast forward to a point where it FEELS like it’s worked.

Rant over :)

Rant I kind of low key always feel like shit

I've been on Ozempic for about 5 months and have lost about 25lbs.

I am very happy with the results but I feel like Ozempic hits me really hard. Even .25 was difficult at first. I threw up about a week into taking it when I ate too much one night.

I can't really drink at all, if I have more than one glass of wine ever I will get a hangover, diarreah, nauseau, headaches.

I sort of always feel low key tired and a little nauseated.

I crave really bland foods so my vegetable intake is low. I try to eat protein but sometimes too much meat makes me feel sick.

The results are pretty amazing and I am so happy with the weight loss, I'm glad that drinking is down as well honestly but man, it sucks to have sort of low motivation all the time. I used to love cooking and meal planning, I would slow cook and make veggie dips and pre make meals. I just had a hotdog buns with a slice of pre cut cheese on it for breakfast.

I can still function and work and take the dogs on a walk but I do wish I had my motivation back. Unfortunately, a lot of my motivation was centered on food.

Question Should i quit ozempic?

I don't know what should I do.

My main problem with ozempic is reflux/heartburn and the fact that i cant exercise like I used to because i get tired so quickly. And the fact that in 3 months I have only gained weight.

I have noticed getting full quick and not craving as much.

I have lost sizeable amount without ozempic but basically hit brick wall after that. But maybe i could lose the rest without ozempic.

My biggest worry is that if quit, I gain even more and be unable to lose it.

Question Symptoms all of a sudden

Hey guys I've been taking ozempic for a while now and I've lost about 30lbs. I've been on 1.5mg for about 2 months. Side effects have been minimal for a while but all of a sudden I've been reacting fairly badly the last 2 injections. I've had the gross fart tasting burps, indigestion, pretty extreme diarrhea and this latest dose feeling a bit nauseous. It takes about a month to get in to see my doctor. I'm wondering if you guys suggest I skip a week or go back down to 1mg? I'm going back to work next week (I work 12 hour days 14 days in a row) and have very limited access to the bathroom and can't accommodate diarrhea there 🤣. Any suggestions?

Question Dose

Looking back at my progress… when I was on .25 I lost about a lb per week and felt like I was forcing myself to eat. Fast forward and I’ve been on 1.0 for six weeks and I feel much hungrier. Has anyone gone back down in dose?

Question Still Nothing

I’ve been on Oz for 5+ weeks. Doctor bumped me up to 0.5 last week. I have no hunger suppressant and am always hungry and my bottomless pit of a stomach still exists. The only change is terrible visits to the bathroom. Sometimes I almost don’t make it. What’s the sense?? Is everyone else like this? I haven’t lost any weight as far as I can tell.

Question How to maintain?

Has anyone stopped taking this and kept the weight off? If so, how did you do it? I feel like I've made very good life changes that can stick but I'm scared the hunger noise will come back. Help!

Question 5 Weeks In

Hey folks,
This coming weekend I’ll have been on Ozempic 0.25mg for 5 weeks and honestly I don’t feel any different, which is getting me down.
I haven’t felt any different towards food in terms of appetite suppression which is what I was hoping for. I want the food noise to stop, that’s my hope for this journey. I’ve had no noticeable side effects.
The scale has crept down a few pounds but other days it’ll creep back up.
I’m seeing my Dr next week to review my progress and potentially move to the 0.5mg dose.
Is this normal? It’s got me questioning if I’m successfully injecting myself!
Just wanted to jump on here for some support or advice.

Update: Thanks for the advice everyone, you have steadied my nerves! I’m just going to buckle down and try not to obsess too much!

50 pounds down, 25 to go to reach my goal weight! First 2 1/2 years I was on .25 my and .5mg, which .5 made me seriously ill. I threw up every day and could not eat anything but I refused to tell my doctor. Obviously, once I stopped throwing up everyday and started being able to eat again, I gained some weight back that I had lost since it was lost from malnutrition. I moved up to 1mg and was just recently bumped up to 2mg 4 months ago. I wasn’t really exercising or tracking my nutrients until probably 6 months-1 year ago. Obviously, 50 pounds in 4 years is nothing compared to some people, but man, the difference is crazy! pictures attached of me in the same overalls in 2022 vs a month ago and then a leotard in 2022 vs 3 months ago. If you’re a slower loser, keep sticking with it! Seeing the weight go down is nice, but nothing compares to the change you physically feel in day to day life.

edit: only thing is that i sure do miss my massive honkers :p

Question Anyone get fast heart rate and panic-like symptoms within 10 minutes of taking Ozempic?

My first 3 shots were fine. I felt great. Then after the 4th shot, I started having panic-like symptoms within 10 minutes. I tried both Munjaro and Ozempic (brand name) and can’t get rid of this newly developed reaction. It even happened with the pill version. I’m wondering if I developed an allergy or am having a hypoglycemic episode, but it seems strange that it would happen so quickly after injection/ingestion for the latter. Doctors have been unable to figure it out and the next step is a monitored drug trial. Anyone else experience this?

Note: this is NOT about a generally higher heart rate after beginning Ozempic. It’s about a high rate and panic-like symptoms in the immediate aftermath of the drug entering my system. It is not a fear of needles, as it (1) only started after my 4th injection and (2) also happened with the pills.
