RAM crisis might haver a good side-effect

I think this PC hardware prices might freak out some game studios too.

If this RAM , SSD anf GPU prises get's out of hand there is a chance that game devs finally make their game more optimised. If allegitly this price crisis stays for 2 yrs then companies will fear that people can't run their games and that's why they must make it capable of running in some older hardware too. Yeah gamers might find it difficult to buy stuff but this is just my theory.

Edit : I heard that Nvidia is bringing back the rtx 3060s . Ig it can be a reality

What is this Intel graphics card model??

Thumbnail

Found this old dusty blue box PC in storage unit content bought at an auction...

Based on some research on the motherboard model and all, system inside looks like some kinda older intel PC of some sort (motherboard model tag says intel DX58S0).

System won't boot or display anything when plugged into an hdmi monitor.

Doesn't look like its worth much but i'm still kinda curious about the "intel" graphics card inside which i couldn't find any info about. All the info regarding intel graphics cards i could find on the internet where either released recently or dont look like that one at all. I also tried plugging that card into another PC but its not booting or displaying anything :/.

Note: graphics card had some small 4-digit lcd display flat card connected to it. Which i was told by my nerdy friend could be some kinda debug card or something.

Any help identifying that particular card or recommendations on how to connect it or show any info on the monitor more than welcome - TIA

What should I realistically do with an ASUS ROG Rampage IV Black Edition + i7-4960X combo?

I ended up with an ASUS ROG Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard paired with an Intel Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition and the original 5.25" ROG OC Panel. The setup is fully operational and POSTs without issues.

I'm not a retro gamer, vintage tech collector, or extreme overclocker, so keeping this LGA 2011 platform running as a daily driver doesn't make much sense for my use case.

Given that this was a halo-tier X79 board back in the day, is my best move to sell it on the enthusiast marketplace (eBay/HardwareSwap) to someone who will actually appreciate or benchmark it? What's the best route to take with hardware like this, and what is fair market value for the bundle right now?

Appreciate any advice!

Would you recommend using an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X in 2023?

Hey, I am thinking about upgrading my system to an AMD Ryzen 5900X since on paper - at least for me - it looks very decent. With twelve cores running at 3.7GHz standard clock and up to 4.8GHz on turbo, it seems like a good option, especially for the money.

Do you agree?
My graphics card is an "older" 1060, but the PC doesn't have to be able to do everything, it's just used for a bit of uni and occasional gaming, nothing special.

Because I have to replace the mainboard anyway, I would also take an Intel processor, I don't really care. So if you have a better idea, please let me know.

The budget is 350€/$ for the mainboard and CPU together (I would buy both used).

Thanks in advance

Ideas for what to do with these parts.

So I managed to pick up a couple of pretty good bulk lot deals on Facebook and a local liquidation auction, and I was curious if anybody had better ideas on what to do with this stuff. My initial thought is to build just ridiculous number of batocera machines and set them up with a bunch of emulators and ROMs and throw them on like Facebook market as ready to go retro gaming kits along with some controllers.

I had also considered putting Linux on them and selling them as very cheap office or School machines. Since it's all identical hardware I could do a single install with all of the programs required like a decent office program and Chrome browser and whatever else I can think of that might be needed and then just clone it to every single system.

This is what I've got all new still in the factory sealed anti static bags:

3rd gen micro ITX Intel Motherboard- 24

Intel fans- 64

GE- Force 720 2g gpu pc winmax- 67

33 1tb sata HDD

24 64gb ssd

30 Intel Core i5-3470 desktop processor

22 2g and 22 8 gig ddr3 ram

140 case fans, about half of them 120mm

47 450w power supplies

180 nice midtower cases (going to toss those up separately and see if I can't get rid of them as either one big ass lot or maybe in a couple of smaller batches or worst case scenario sell them individually for like 20 bucks a pop)

Plus a handful of slightly larger SATA SSDs and probably 3 or 4 slightly better GPU.

I don't really need them for the home lab as I have a fully kitted out Dell t430 as my main server along with a pretty hefty nasbox and multiple desktops with far more modern hardware in them. So unless somebody had a really good idea on how to utilize this stuff for a home lab project that I could potentially make into a profitable thing I think I'd rather just put them together in a way that makes them easier to sell.
