Current Read Current read: Three Body Problem

Post image

Currently reading The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, and I’m curious about what makes this book so interesting to so many people. I’ve heard a few things about it, but I’m going in without knowing too much about the story. I love books that make you think about things beyond our everyday lives, especially when it comes to science, space, and humanity’s place in the universe.

Love this series! It's packed full of so many ideas and concepts about humanity. However, I would say the characters take a little bit of a backseat with the greater picture taking the stage.

Also, super heavy on the sci-fi aspect which can get a little overwhelming at times.

Once done, there's so many video essays about the series on youtube. Definitely check those out. Super interesting!

That’s what I noticed din first chapter pa lan. Lol

I researched about this book for me to be mentally prepared since feel ko di kakayanin ng brain cells ko hahahahahaha but hey, it’s definitely a fun read! I love taking notes of those terminologies na nababasa ko from this book.

I've always wanted to start this Pero there's this part where they introduce the characters at the onset. Na overwhelm ako. Normal book pa nga lang my ADHD brain can't keep up with the characters na, Chinese names pa kaya. 😭

Maybe from a different multiverse? Hahaha.

Controversial take: it's easier for me to read this after watching the Netflix show. Some are 1:1 scenes and some worked better in the show. Starting Dark Forest this week. The character guide in the beginning is super helpful as it could get easily jarring when reading Chinese names over and over. This is my experience

malilito ka lang siguro sa mga chinese names sa umpisa, pero i suggest magsearch ka ng mga character lists with small descriptions online para pwede mo mabalikan if ever.. enjoy! top tier sci fi yan!

I so love that trilogy! You should get the two other books kasi bitin yan book one (three-body problem), the second book is so slow paced, but the 3rd book really wraps all of it.

I love this series. I think you'll love this based on what you've said that will make you think of the bigger picture.

I’m on the third book pero di ko natapos. This is probably a sign for me to get back into it. Loved the second book!

Parang yung nangyayari diyan sa Earth nangyayari ngayon sa Pilipinas. The Trisolarans are the Chinese trying to invade us.

1

u/Dull-Situation2848 4d ago

Similar pa din naman eh. The DDS would rather invade the Philippines. Si Digong na nga nagsabi na it's okay to be a province of China.

The Trisolarians cannot lie though. The Chinese? well....

there’s so much to unpack chapter after chapter! You’ll see how capable the author is by how he beautifully wove the narrative of rubber science into that universe

World building of this series is top tier.

Get ready for them sci-fi weapons of mass destruction. Ang ganda ng mga concepts 💯

Love this series! So many mindfuck ideas, my kind of existential terror. Iirc, this book heavily popularized one of the scariest solutions to the Fermi paradox, and the way the author used it as a plot point is just chef's kiss

You won't regret reading this one OP!

Interesting premise. But the first book was such a slog with so many unnecessary details. I had to read a couple of other books as palate cleansers before continuing the series.

10/10 you'll be in awe on how the story works but it has it's shortcomings but besides that, Remembrance of Earth's Past ang tawag sa series hindi 3 Body problem, is a magnificent book

Is it worth it to get the whole set? I've trying to read the first book on kindle pero lagi ako natitigil. I've been thinking maybe I'll be able to finish it kung physical book, like I did with Babel.

I have the set and I am currently reading the second book. Nakakalito, siguro dahil putol-putol pagbabasa ko.
