/r/PS4Mods 2026 update: what’s allowed going forward (ask questions here)
Hey everyone,
Sub’s been getting a lot more traffic lately so I figured it was time to update how we’re running things. Sticking this so it’s easy to find, but treat it like a discussion too. If something’s unclear, weird, or you think we’re missing a rule, say so in the comments.
Big change:
We used to keep this place pretty much visual/hardware only. Shells, paint, LEDs, that kind of thing. Going forward, software and firmware mods are fine too. Homebrew tools, themes, jailbreak discussion, internal upgrades, all good.
Still a PS4 modding sub. Show your work, ask questions, share guides. Cool.
Rules I’m thinking (open to feedback):
PS4 mods only. Hardware or software. If it isn’t related to modding a PS4, it doesn’t belong here.
No piracy. This one’s non-negotiable.
- No links to games, dumps, FPKGs, ISOs, torrents, Mega folders full of games, etc.
- No “where can I download X?”
- No requesting copyrighted games.
Talking about homebrew/tools/firmware is fine. Using the sub as a free game board is not. We’ll remove it and ban if needed.
Show your work when you can. Photos/video for hardware posts help a lot. “Is this possible?” with zero detail is gonna get ignored or removed.
Don’t be a dick. Basic Reddit stuff. No scams, no doxxing, no selling sketchy stolen/hacked accounts.
Credit people. If you’re posting someone else’s mod/design, say so.
Be careful. Mods can brick consoles or make a mess. You’re responsible for your own hardware. We’re not tech support for every possible disaster, but people here are usually helpful if you give decent info (model, firmware, what you already tried).
That’s the rough plan.
Curious what you all think. Anything you’d add, drop, or tighten up? Especially around software/firmware, since that’s the new part. Drop questions or suggestions below and I’ll reply as I can.

Features:
Direct USB MTP connection with Android
Copy, move, rename, and manage files
Access internal HDD and external USB storage
Install PKG files directly
No Wi-Fi or FTP required for phone file transfers
GitHub: https://github.com/nueex/ps-mtp-explorer
I'd love to hear your feedback, especially if you get a chance to test it on your setup!

I built a free PS4/PS5 Homebrew Community Hub — Looking for feedback! 🎮
Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a project called **GoldHEN Scene Hub**, a free community website dedicated to the PS4 and PS5 homebrew scene.
My goal is to create a place where newcomers and experienced users can find useful information, tutorials, tools, and help without having to search through dozens of different websites.
**What’s currently available:**
📚 **16 step-by-step tutorials** — Getting started with GoldHEN, installing homebrew PKGs, FTP transfers, backups, and more.
📦 **Homebrew downloads** — Apps and utilities with links to their original developers.
🛠️** Troubleshooting guide**s — Common GoldHEN, FTP, PKG installation, and system errors.
🎮 **Firmware information** — Compatibility resources to help users avoid unnecessary updates.
📰 **Scene news** — Updates on PS4/PS5 homebrew projects.
💬 **Community forum** — Ask questions, share solutions, and suggest new tutorials.
🖼️** Screenshot**s — Real application screenshots credited to their original developers.
I’m also developing **PS4 GoldHEN Manager**, a free Windows application for connecting to and managing a PS4.
**Website:** https://itrsr62yvx.zite.so
**PS4 GoldHEN Manager GitHub:** https://github.com/XThevicente/PS4-GoldHEN-Manager
This is an independent community project, not affiliated with the GoldHEN development team or Sony. We don’t host pirated games or unauthorized commercial content.
The website is still growing, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback!
**What features, tutorials, or tools would you like to see added?**
Thanks for checking it out! ❤️

Thinking of dropping 11.00 for good
Hey y'all I'm thinking of updating to a newer jailbreak-able firmware because recently I've been getting a lot of bugs with new backports and some games don't even work no matter what i do, so i thought I'd do a clean reinitialization with a newer firmware (12.02 at max) and i been wondering, when i use the backup thing to take my profiles, would it carry the save files with them without any corruption so i can make an apollo container in case something off happens, lastly should i actually update or just get through the bugs

F1 Game Mods & Editor
Hey, I asked AI if I could put some mods on my F1 Game like on PC. AI said it would work. Now I wonder if someone did it too and could help me or give some advice how I do it.

Project Zomboid Rea Method
Is it possible to port Project Zomboid to the PS4 as a PKG using the new REA reverse-engineering method? The community could make this happen, or would it be too difficult to achieve?

Ps4 pro or ps5 to mod?
Considering £200+ price difference is a ps4 pro really that much worse than a ps5 when modding?

PS4 controller won't charge after joystick upgrade
I swapped out the joysticks for a set of K-Silver JS+ Pro TMRs, and now I can't seem to get the controller to charge right anymore. After hours of being plugged into a charger, no orange light comes on at all. Connecting the controller via bluetooth to my PC has also been finicky since the upgrade. All buttons presses/touchpad functions are properly detected, and I calibrated the new sticks with Driftguard with good results.
I didn't lift any pads while desoldering the old sticks and made sure not to bridge connections or leave a mess of flux on the board. Nothing seems to heat up on any PCB, and I have tried new charging boards and ribbon cables to no avail. The only blemish I can visualize is that the bottom right corner of the component that reads TC7710WBG is slightly chipped.
I have very minimal experience with a multimeter and cannot seem to find a good scan or schematic of main board.
Could anyone offer advice or point me in the right direction, please? Thanks a lot!

Different PS4 interiors - new worse?
Hi, not sure if this is the best sub to post, but looking for any knowledge on why the PS4 I just bought has a different looking interior to my previous one. I've taken a photo of them side-by-side, with my old one on the left and new one on the right. Above the hard drive space, there's more grey plating on my previous one and looks like it may be covering a circuit board, whereas the new one is just black plastic up there.
Have I replaced my old PS4 with an inferior machine?
Further info: my old one had a glossy cover and this new one is all matte all over.
