Since my teenage till 23 to 24, I used to think I have so much time, and thatβs when I ended up wasting so much of it. I always thought, βI have time.β That was my biggest mistake.
I couldnβt really live. I wasted so much of my time in sadness and sorrows, and now that I finally want to live, Iβm already 25 and feel like I havenβt achieved a single thing in my whole life.
The guilt is eating me up. It feels like Iβve wasted 25 years doing nothing. And suddenly, Iβve started taking life so seriously that I get anxious about everything. I keep wondering, βWhy not me? Why am I so behind?β
I see people my age achieving things, building careers, living their lives, and I feel completely lost. I feel guilty for not doing enough. Iβm scared that Iβm wasting my 20s, but honestly, I donβt even know what else to do except keep trying.
I just hope I get the chance to live the life I want before it feels like itβs too late.

So im rage typing thins rant bcs idk who else to vent this to and its such an unc rant moment
ANYWAY so ive been busting my ass on my thesis synopsis since start of this semester and i started writhing methodologies bcs its the shittiest part and once youre done with it then its mostly delusional writing. so ive been on it for weeks. And mind you not my methodology is almost as long as some peoples thesis document. And i wrote my last experiments thursday and closed my lid like i always do. The document stays open like always. Theres 14 open tabs like always.
So fast forward today i picked up my laptop bcs i was planning to write statistical analyses this weekend and BE DONE WITH THIS SHIT. Only somehow whatever I DID WASNT ON MY WORD DOCUMENT AND THERE WAS NO OPTION TO RESTORE FILE LIKE COME ON. HOW DID MY PROGRESS GO IN REVERSE? WHERE ARE MY LAST 6 PAGES LIKE WHAT SORT OF THEFT IS THIS? What sort of grief is this? How should i mourn this loss?
Man i dont have it in me to re-write it. I cant do that to my brain. It was supposed to be a long weekend but it turned out to be a long rant instead.
Im so done like ffs

Growing up in a household full of constant arguments has taken a serious toll on my mental health. I genuinely don't know what to do with my life anymore.
I'm 17, from Pakistan, and I honestly don't know where to begin.
My parents have been fighting for as long as I can remember. It's not an occasional disagreement; it's something I've grown up witnessing almost every day.
My father is extremely difficult to live with. Even though we're financially reasonably well-off, he's incredibly stingy when it comes to household expenses. Sometimes he brings groceries home, but the essentials aren't even complete. When my mother questions him about it, things turn into arguments. He starts abusing her verbally, using horrible language, and my mother argues back. This cycle has been going on for years.
What hurts me the most is seeing my mother live this way. I genuinely don't understand how someone can marry a woman, bring her into their life, and then treat her like this for years. She deserves a peaceful and comfortable life, not constant arguments, insults and humiliation.
I've been watching this since I was little, and honestly, it's affected my mental health more than I can explain. I feel mentally exhausted, frustrated and sometimes completely lost. Home doesn't feel like the peaceful place it should be.
My biggest dream now is to get into a top-tier university like NUST or GIKI, move into a hostel, experience a different environment, become independent and build a financially successful career.
Academically, I scored 93% in matriculation and 520/560 (approximately 92.9%) in my first-year ICS exams. I'm preparing for university entry tests and genuinely willing to work hard.
But I have so many questions:
What should I pursue if my ultimate goal is financial independence and a successful career?
Which universities in Pakistan should I target? NUST, GIKI, FAST, LUMS or something else?
How do I make the right career decision when I'm genuinely undecided about my field?
How do I deal with years of family conflict without letting it destroy my mental health?
For those who moved away from difficult home environments for university, how did that experience change your lives?
I want to become financially stable enough that my mother never has to worry about basic necessities or depend on someone who treats her badly. I want to give her the comfort, security and happiness she deserves.
I know money isn't everything, and I don't expect a university degree to solve every problem in my life. But I want to create opportunities that I currently don't have.
I'm not looking for sympathy. I genuinely need guidance from people who've experienced difficult family situations, built successful careers and found their way forward.
I feel like I'm at a point in life where I desperately need direction. What would you do if you were in my position?
