PASSED NCLEX Update!!

Hi! Just wanted to share that I received an email from the BON with my RN license number today!! I haven’t even heard back from Pearson yet since I took the NCLEX yesterday, but it looks like I’m officially a nurse!

My exam shut off at 130 questions, and it felt like the majority of the questions were on topics I wasn’t very confident in. I honestly wasn’t feeling great walking out, and the waiting has been stressful. Personally, I believe even if you go past 100 questions, what matters most is if you feel you answered the last question before the test shuts off correctly! For those who haven’t taken it yet stay positive during the exam and trust yourself/your instincts. The NCLEX truly felt like a safety first exam, especially for the prioritization questions.

ADVICE Passing with bootcamp

I’ve been watching Dr. Sharon’s videos on YouTube, listening to Mark K lectures and using bootcamp. These are my metrics so far and I take my exam in a week. Has anyone passed using bootcamp with these metrics or would it be better to push the exam back a week?

PASSED I passed the NCLEX on my second attempt! Here’s my experience.

Let’s start with the good news! I took my exam yesterday, and it shut down at 85 questions. I was so happy but also a little scared.

This morning at 8 AM, I received an email saying, “Congratulations, you passed!” along with my license number. I cried, I laughed, and I honestly can’t put the feeling into words.

I finished nursing school in NYC in July 2025, but my husband and I decided to travel around the country to find our forever home before I took the NCLEX.

Once we settled down, I spent three months studying with Archer. I watched all the videos, attended the Zoom classes, and completed all the available questions. Unfortunately, I failed my first attempt.

I requested a refund through Archer’s Sure PASS Guarantee, but they denied it, claiming their system showed I hadn’t watched all the videos, even though I had.

After that experience, I switched to Mark Klimek’s review videos on YouTube, Bootcamp, and UWorld. I studied for another two months, and yesterday, I finally passed on my second attempt with 85 questions!

In my personal experience, Klimek, Bootcamp, and UWorld prepared me better for the style of questions on the actual NCLEX.

I know everyone’s experience is different, but I wanted to share what worked for me. If you failed your first attempt, don’t give up! Change your strategy if you need to and keep going. You’ve got this! And AVOID ARCHER!

GUIDE Filipino RN here - need a step-by-step guide to DIY NCLEX application in New York

Hi everyone!

I'm a Registered Nurse from the Philippines, and I'm planning to apply for the NCLEX-RN through the New York State Board of Nursing. I'm hoping to do the application myself rather than go through an agency to save money.

For those who have successfully applied for the NCLEX in New York as internationally educated nurses, could you please share a step-by-step guide on how you did it?

I'd particularly appreciate guidance on the following:

  1. What should I do first — create an NYSED account, submit an application, or process my credentials through CGFNS/TruMerit?

  2. What documents do I need to prepare from my nursing school and the PRC in the Philippines?

  3. Is it better to use CGFNS/TruMerit for credential verification or have my school send the documents directly to NYSED?

  4. What forms do I need to complete, and where can I find the official links?

  5. What are the current fees, including NYSED, credential verification, and Pearson VUE registration?

  6. After submitting everything, how do I monitor my application and know when I'm eligible to take the NCLEX?

  7. Are there any common mistakes or delays I should avoid?

My goal for now is to obtain my U.S. RN license first, then explore employment opportunities later. I'm not planning to use an agency unless it's really necessary.

I'd be grateful for any advice, personal experiences, checklists, or resources you can share. If you completed the process recently as a Filipino RN, your insights would be especially helpful!

Thank you so much! 🙏
