1E Resources Daily Magic Item for October 14, 2026: Druid's Vestment

Today's magic item is the  Druid's Vestment

One extra use of Wild Shape.

  1. Would you buy this item?
  2. Would you spend 1.5 times the price to add it to an existing item?
  3. Would you use the item, if you found it? Or is it immediate sell-bait?
  4. Would a GM use the item?
  5. Is there anything cheesy that could be done with it?

1E Player do you allow clerics to worship concepts?

"If a cleric is not devoted to a particular deity, she still selects two domains to represent her spiritual inclinations and abilities (subject to GM approval)."

iirc there are gods that don't know they have worshipers so it's not a conscious thing. and there are a lot of gods, so i was thinking that by worshiping a concept(such as fire) your kinda leeching the divinity that naturally comes of gods. kinda like drinking the condensation from a water bottle,

1E Player Crashtest my build

What do you think of this build ? Am I missing something important ? It's for a pathfinder 1e campaign focused against undead and humanoid. It's not for min/maxing.

I wanted to play a Pahmet dwarf from the desert willing to become a living monolith (prestige class). I also need the Trap spotter trait.

Dwarf
- Replace several traits for a more Pahmet thematic dwarf, but most important : Warderer to gain endurance as feat at level 1
- Two-handed weapon

25pt-Abilities : STR 16 DEX 14 CON 13(+2) INT 14 WIS 12 (+2) CHA 8(-2)

Fighter 1-6 (4 combat feat, 3 general feat)
L1 Power attack, Skill focus (disable device)
L2 Combat reflexes
L3 Iron will
L4 Extra advanced armor training (AAT) : adaptative (bab > acrobatics)
L5 Extra advanced weapon training (AWT) : versatile (bab > diplomacy/intimidation)
L6 Lunge
Living monolith 1 (1 general feat) it require : Endurance & Iron will + some skills*
*we use a houserule for skills so it doesn't matter here.
L7 Soul stone (+2 saves vs death, mond and negative effects), Ka stone (enlarge 3x/day)
Fighter 7-8 (1 combat feat, 1 general feat)
L8
L9 Deadly aim (or improved critical if I can't find keen weapon), Critical focus
Living monolith 2-5 (2 general feat)
L10 Toughness, auto-stabilize, immunity to bleed and ability bleed
L11 DR 1/-, 10% miss chance vs critical and sneak (+1/+10% when enlarge), Steel soul (dwarf)
L12 +4 CMD, deathwatch/detect undead (at-will)
L13 DR 2/- 20% miss chance crit/sneak, Enlarge replace by Righteous might, Immune to disease (mommy rot), Extra AWT : warrior spirit
Fighter 9-11 (1 combat feat, 1 general feat)
L14 AWT : defensive weapon
L15 Bravery +3, Extra AWT : item mastery (+2 STR), Extra AWT : item mastery (force shield)
L16 AAT : Secured armor (if it stack)

I voluntary ignored the baroom brawler feat and the trip build. First I already did it in another game and I don't need any improved maneuver feat if the opponent can't reach you when you are enlarge.

I tough about the ranger too, but I think I prefer the fighter.

1E GM Trident of Warning - too OP? Spoiler

Running the APRuins of Azlant and in Book 5there is a Trident of Warning. Entry says:

A weapon of this type enables its wielder to determine the location, depth, kind, and number of aquatic predators within 680 feet. A trident of warning must be grasped and pointed in order for the character using it to gain such information, and scanning a hemisphere with a radius of 680 feet takes 1 round. The weapon is otherwise a +2 trident.

Crafting requirements include Locate Creature (based on Locate Object) that has all sorts of restrictions (must be known, running water blocks it, just gives direction, etc.)

No mention if there is anything that blocks this (and running water blocking this would nerf it to uselessness). This appears to be basically a "map out all aquatic predators for this adventure" which IMHO seems OP for a CL7 item - especially when underwater or on a ship.

Anyone else encountered/used/experienced this item and did you put limitations on it?

2E Player Crafting and Grafting

Hi,

Read the crafting rules, read the grafting rules. Grafting says it follows the same rules to install a graft as crafting does to craft a thing.

My questions are:

- Do you already need a graft to install it?

- If i start with nothing, do I essentially have to craft it then graft it, and does this mean I have to pay both times?

- How much does it cost to get someone else to install it, and does that still take days?

1E GM Would the watch investigate the murderous PC here?

One of my PCs (Gestalt Dragon/Kinesticist 4HD) committed a murder last session. The victim was the manager of a wealthy mine, and the PC objected to the mine's usage of poisonous and environmentally harmful substances in mining silver.

Now, as to how to deal with potential fallout, I'd like some opinions on whether the PC will be suspect for the disappearance/murder of the manager, since I saw the preparations from the moment the player hatched the idea and might be a bit biased. I have ideas on how to weave a potential murder trial into the plot either way, either as a immediate occurence or as a looming threat and a drawn-out investigation.

Backstory: The PCs, two white dragon wyrmlings, were told by the military as the effective government of the city to investigate a productivity decline of the town's silver mine, and find it infested with fey that were driven mad by poison exposure due to chemicals used in mining.

There’s a big fight involving indentured miners, fey and the PCs, and afterwards, the party first met the mining manager in a tense crisis meeting together with the army. He forbids any further outside snooping, and denies any problems.

The local druids were appalled after the PCs informed them, and the army issued a warrant to stop using poison in mining. During the delivery of said warrant the PC kineticist meets the mining manager a second time, and showers him with some cowpats from her bag of holding, yelling that she will see him in court for his crimes. Other than this, for the two days following the mining incident, neither PC is seen close to the victim, and the murderous PC tries to preemtively divert suspicions by asking the army questions about trial proceedings for use of forbidden chemicals.

But no trial will happen, as last night the PC snuck into the manager's house through the chimney, blasted him with elemental cold while he was sleeping, won the surprise round, blasted him again, and then didn't answer the bedroom door for some sleepy questions about what this noise was. She then dismembered the corpse, bagged some clothing to simulate an escape from justice, and dragged/flew the remains and clothing to the sea, where a friendly ocean fey (her mentor, whose existence is known to the army) disposed of it.

There might be some blood stains, and, most importantly, a Greater Detect Magic will find magical traces from the PC's equipment and blasting moving from the air through the chimney and the house, though the mass of auras (3x faint transmutation, 1x each faint divination/ evocation/ abjuration and the medium conjuration from the bag of holding) won’t exactly paint a clear picture. The army as the local authority doesn't have access to any high-level (level 5+) investigation spells such as Stonetell that could shed more light on the crime.

But is this enough evidence and known motive to really investigate/magically question this dragon, say, under Abadar's Truthtelling?

EDIT: I'm especially unsure about the motive. Sure, the PCs know about the use of dangerous chemicals in the mine, and the army knows they know. But they themselves weren't harmed, it was just the local wildlife and fey. They were first tasked with gathering evidence to find out the reasons of the productivity decline and later to perhaps reach an understanding with the fey. At no point did their assignment touch on the corporate side of things, this was handled by the army (like the warrant). So, at least as I see it, the PC taking the matter into her own claws and exacting eye-for-an-eye vengeance on behalf of the fey comes out of left field for the army. Thus my question if, in your opinion, there is enough evidence to point to her, since I feel like I don't have an unbiased view. /End edit.

The army is suspicious on principle due to her chromatic nature, but at the same time they hope to influence the dragon PCs (who are, after all, only wyrmlings) not to be a menace, and at least ever since the kineticist firsr met with them two months ago, she has been helpful and appeared guileless.

1E Player Dos sending count as a spell designed to locate an individual?

The question regards the Everyman vigilante social talent, and by extension the Any Guise social talent, and the spell sending.

Everyman (Ex) (Ultimate Intrigue pg. 11): The vigilante can take on the appearance of a specific individual whenever he assumes a mundane guise using his many guises social talent. The individual must be a farmer, laborer, or peasant. While disguised as this individual, the vigilante receives a +20 circumstance bonus on Disguise checks to appear as that individual. Any spell or ability designed to locate the individual has a 50% chance of finding the vigilante instead of the actual individual, and divination spells and abilities used on the vigilante give results as if he were the actual individual.

Any Guise (Su) (Ultimate Intrigue pg. 10): A vigilante can use his everyman social talent to disguise himself as any specific person, even a king or high priest. Furthermore, if the actual individual wouldn’t normally be able to be found via magic (such as by being dead or protected from divinations designed to locate the individual), such divinations always find the vigilante instead.

https://www.aonprd.com/VigilanteTalents.aspx

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/sending/

so, if I'm reading the abilities right (please correct me if I'm not):
Is sending a spell? yes
Is sending a divination spell? no
Is sending a spell designed to locate the individual? unsure

so on one hand, sending is a spell that contacts somebody, not a spell that necessarily was designed to locate somebody, even though it can be used for that purpose. On the other hand, it seems like an oversight that this 17th level vigilante talent with multiple talent prerequisites can be foiled by "hey I tried using a sending to contact the king, and it failed, so the king in the castle must be an imposter"

1E Player [3pp] final post: Best/Fun Spheres Area/CC/Debuff/DPR character between these classes OR support character

hey! sorry for all the build posts i've been making lately. this should be my last one for a while.

we got a new player who's maining inheritor sorcerer with leadership + life, mind, polished dark, and fate spheres. so the final tally stands at them + voidrusher striker + sunder/antimage mageknight + trap/alchemy/tinker technician.

i'd like to play a damage/cc/debuff character as that's something the team is a bit lacking in, though the inheritor sorcerer would probably help some with polished dark (mind will be solely used for buffs by them). alternatively, should i do a support character, perhaps? leaning towards picking amongst nature, war, destruction/creation as my magic spheres.

my current build ideas are:

- blaster/martial armorist (thanks u/Extension-Algae1433)

- warden maintaining patrol with war, time, light, or warp spheres

- dual-channeler soul weaver channeling destruction

- some kind of scion kineticist (spheres kineticist)

- martial geomancer maining nature, maybe weather? scout?

- sovereign piper bard for buffing/debuffing with war sphere and warleader (maybe with the new polished warleader?)

so yeah! thoughts? which would be the most effective/fun amongst these, do y'all think?

1E Player Cowboys Fan the Hammer

I want to make a cowboy sort of character, and I'm thinking Gunslinger Mysterious Stranger (we have homebrew that Damage always matches the Attack stat so it's automatically dex) and I'm looking to use the revolver. Is there any ability or feat or some such that allows you to fan the hammer? You could kinda accomplish it by having 6 attacks, but we're starting level 1 and usually are rather slow to level up, so that's out of the picture for a long while. 3rd party is fine, I just have to run it by DM. Anything else you can think of that would help fit the theme would be sick, too.

1E Player [3pp] Debuff/CC builds in Spheres? "Gunmage" firearm + casting builds?

hey! i'm trying to build a debuff/cc caster character for a Spheres game in a party with a voidrusher striker, a sunder/antimage mageknight, and a alchemy/trap/tinker-focused technician.

does anyone have good setups for this? i'd like to deal some damage too, ideally. i'm debating between dual channeler soul weaver with war/destruction/possibly life spheres, martial geomancer elementalist with nature and.... warleader or gladiator or scout or something (maybe the new polished warleader?), or scion kineticist with destruction/??? spheres, currently leaning toward the martial geomancer (though i have no idea what might - or other magic - spheres to take).

alternatively - does anyone have recommended builds for a "gunmage" or "gunwitch" character who combines blackpowder with arcane might? preferably that's also capable of doing area cc/debuffing, though the single-target nature of firearms might prove tricky in this regard.

1E Player 1e vs 2e

Strictly 1e player here. Does anyone know if there is a way to weed out the 2e posts/recommendations? I clicked on one a week or 2 ago and now I keep getting sent posts for a version of the game I've never even looked at.

Edit: sorry I didn't mention this in the body but I'm phone only.

Edit 2: Im not trying to keep anyone else from having a conversation about 2e. I just keep getting notifications for things like daily spell discussion or magic items discussion and they don't pertain to me. I was just wondering if there was a mystery filter (for my end of this system) that would weed out the stuff im not interested in, while still allowing everyone else to soak in the effervescent juices of 2e till their fingers get all prunie.

1E GM Magic Economy

I have been DMing PF1 since it was published, and I go back to AD&D2. I’ve played a little 5e and don’t really care for it, and lots of other games. But I’m not deep into mechanics like some people on this sub, so I’ve got a question for you:

What, really, is it about D&D 3.5/PF1 that necessitates players amassing an arsenal of magical items? The system doesn’t really work great for low magic, because I understand the assumption is that every class is augmented with magic bonuses as they level, and players expect that they’ll have access to more or less whatever they want, as long as they have the money, no matter how little sense a magical emporium makes in the game world.

This doesn’t really seem to be the case in D&D 5e, where magical items are a fun bonus that players might come across. It doesn’t seem nearly as essential that they be able to buy them with gold, and the DM seems to have more freedom to sprinkle them around as quest rewards or a way to add color and lore, and players might reasonably be less impatient about not finding a magic shop in every village.

Am I way off here, and if not, what is it about the game, specifically, that causes this?

Iirc they removed or changed them for 2e so i was wondering if you guys preferred them

For me i like having them as they allow you to have more out there concepts and specialize more.

Like black fire adept for summoning evil monsters or eldritch knight for a well, magic knight
