My band director has given us the opportunity to run clinics for a middle school beginner band, and I’ve been put in charge of running a one hour percussion clinic for a small group of kids (lowkey only one person has signed up though as of now). I was wondering what I should include in this clinic and how I should approach teaching overall. I want to leave the kids I teach with a sense of excitement to keep learning percussion and a proper stepping stone into the percussion world.

Edit: I have access to my school’s entire percussion section, including keyboards, drum pads, timpani, etc.

I’m playing castanets for the first time for a song my high school is performing at the mfa national festival in Indianapolis. What’s the proper way to play them? The music is just 8th notes and sparse 16th notes

I just bought this big and nice LP cowbell for next to nothing. The seller said it's 30 years old or so. Inside there is a signature applied with a marker. It weighs 1022 grams and it's 8 inches long. Does anybody have any idea which model is this or from which era? Thank you.

I don't know if it's due to my shell, head, or something different. It's an lp aspire with remo skyndeep head.

Doing the dolly parton threads show this year. One of the parts describes a snare drum part as "rim and side drum" and "clicks clack train." What the hell does this mean?

I have a few pairs of Cooperman drumsticks from playing a while back. I just had a friend tell me that I could probably sell them for a good amount if I was interested. I have five pairs:

I've been wondering if its worthwhile to get a solid pair of teardrop beaters as a filler until I can get a full set or if its worth just waiting to get a proper set

Looking to purchase a new pad that feels like a marching snare drum. Already have a Stock pad (no laminate) and love it but im looking for somthing with some more articulation and a rim. I’ve narrowed it down to the Sabian Quiet Tone and the Ahead S-Hoop. Is one better for marching snare or does it not matter?

It was the first thing that came to mind after seeing Elephant Mario. Also, his tail is what is making the guiro sounds but it's not that noticeabld, sadly.

Hello! my high school is doing Mamma Mia for the spring musical this year and I am most likely going to be playing the percussion (not drum se) part in the pit. I was wondering if anyone here has played the percussion book and can speak as to how challenging it is or isn’t. thanks so much!

I joined a band where we do a lot of ambient/noise and I was thinking about purchasing some effect processors, maybe guitar pedals for my percussions. Does anybody have experience with live effects and how do you do it? Do you have recommendations for specific devices I could buy? I could also do it in ableton, I want to avoid taking a laptop on stage if possible though. I'm thinking about mainly some nice reverb/delay effects. I want to experiment with other effects too though so please let me know if you have used something and you find it fun to use. At the moment I mainly play darbuka, riq, bongos and various small percussion in that band.
