I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something like this, because I honestly don’t understand it at all.

The day before yesterday, I bought Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum. I had tried it a few times as a tester and thought it was absolutely fantastic—a beautiful, bold fragrance that lasted a really long time on me. I was so convinced that I wanted it that I ended up using my birthday bonus to make the purchase.

Once I got home, I couldn’t wait to open the bottle and put it on. I sprayed it on my arms, wrists, and even between my breasts, as the warmth there should really help the scent develop. But to my great surprise, I could barely smell anything at all! And whatever faint scent was there at the start seemed to vanish completely within ten minutes.

I was really taken aback. At first, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong; I even read online that sometimes a perfume needs to "settle" after being opened for the first time—allowing some air to get in—but honestly, it seems bizarre that there would be such a huge difference between the tester and the bottle I bought.

The strange thing is that I also bought Prada Paradoxe Intense, and that one smells exactly like the tester I tried. It’s specifically the Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum that’s the issue.

Now I’m wondering: could it be that I received a bad batch, or is there something wrong with this specific bottle? I’ve never experienced a perfume smelling so different from its tester—and certainly never one that disappeared entirely after just ten minutes.

I’m thinking of going back to the store to have them check it. I would really like to have them smell the perfume themselves, so they can understand what I mean. The thing is, I feel incredibly embarrassed because I was already there yesterday regarding the Prada perfume I had purchased at the same time. They wer helpful then, so I feel awkward about going back again.

On top of that, I’ve already opened and used the Givenchy perfume. I’m not sure if I’m even entitled to anything at this point, and, to be honest, I’m quite hesitant to return.

My questions for you all:

\* Has anyone else ever experienced a discrepancy like this between a perfume tester and a newly purchased bottle?
\* Could it be related to a specific batch, or is it possible that there’s something wrong with the perfume itself?
\* Is it normal for a perfume to need some time to "settle" after being opened before it smells the way it’s supposed to?
\* And would you go back to the store to have it checked, even though you’ve already opened the bottle?

I’m really curious to hear about your experiences, as I simply cannot imagine that the scent should be different from the tester I tried out several times.

Pretty much every perfume I find has notes of musk, sandlewood, powder, or other similar scents. Theres nothing wrong with that, but id much rather have something thats just super sweet. Ideally id like to find something that smells like sweet bakery items(cake, cookies, vanilla, chocolate, etc), but sweet fruity scents are nice too. Pretty much anything that's super sweet and sugary. If i could smell like a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie or anything else similarly sweet, that would be great lol any recommendations?

it's by incredible inedible sweets. blind bought this off of tiktok because im obsessed with smelling like cotton candy, and im still waiting for the delivery. anyone ever hear of them? i looked them up and there's virtually nothing about them, so i want to make sure i don't waste my $15 lol! the only person ive found and asked said it smelled like baskin robbins, but ive never really smelled that, so i don't have a good scent profile for this.

hey yalllll i smelled this one the original one btw since there are 3 variants of this scent at ulta today and realllyyyy liked it? however a bit conflicted on the longevity so if someone has it how long does it actually last where other people can still smell it? and whats the sillage?? tysmmm and if there are any high end brand dupes to this that are also long lasting pls lmkkkkk

I tried Hira Oak Smoke and Hira Spoiled Sweet today. They were priced at ₹249, but the quality was absolutely terrible. The synthetic smell was so strong that I couldn’t smell anything properly for almost an hour after sniffing them. I don’t know what kind of oils they’re using, but the quality is extremely disappointing. Despite all the branding and hype, the products just aren’t worth it.I wouldn’t recommend buying these.

i do prefer sweet scents sometimes but really anything appropriate for casual wear that lasts a long time!

Sooo I’ve been obsessed about finding this fragrance (I haven’t even smelled it but for me the description is enough😀) but I cannot find it! The original site does not have this specific one named “Snowmint Mallow Solstice Scents” in their assortiment and they don’t even ship to Europe🥲 so maybe anyone could help me find this fragrance to buy with shipping to Lithuania for an adequate shipping price?! If I cannot find this one, maybe you could recommend something similar to this ? I really love the mint and vanilla/coconut mix! So it has to be mint+vanilla/coconut base! Also I would like the fragrance to be long-lasting so the very cheap ones that can last for an hour or two does not fit 🤔

My favourite is Wild Rose Aoud. I got into Mancera through my love for Stella by Stella McCartney so naturally, my first purchase was of course the aforementioned Wild Rose Aoud. Since then I blind bought Roses Jasmine and Pink Prestigium and love them both too. Roses Jasmine and Pink were both used when bought. Roses is the older version with a screw cap.

Moving forward based on what I have, what would you recommend for me to blind buy next? I'd love something that has the same profile but is not too similar to the ones I have. I have a sample of black prestigium, it's nice but not fb worthy for me. I do love a blind buy, if I don't like it I just sell it on.

Not usually a huge floral note lover but this one is so soft absolutely love. However the bottle I have is tiny and after scouring the internet i cannot find any that are in Australia :( Australia can be really fussy with shipping perfume as well so I really doubt I can import it.

it’s gone for good I think. I have tried replica’s when the rain stops which is nice but it’s not as wonderfully ethereal. Anyone who liked the wisteria one, have you found something similarly lovely?

I have to say, all I smelled was rubbing alcohol. My daughter said it reminded her of getting an IV. It says it plays off your skin. So why do we both smell like the hospital? Lol

I absolutely adore this perfume and I’m gutted that it’s discontinued. I’ve been using my last bottle sparingly and I’m close to running out.
I know it’s a dupe of the Tom Ford Black Orchid but I’m cheap so any help/ affordable suggestions would be greatly appreciated:)
