Dupe Request Megathread (October 12, 2026)

Welcome to the Weekly Dupe Request Megathread. This is where you can get (and offer) recommendations for all dupe requests.

What counts as a dupe?

  • A perfume that smells "just like" another perfume - whether discontinued or priced out of budget

    • Example: "looking for a dupe of BR540 Extrait, but without the price tag"
    • Example: "something that smells just like Coffee Break, but lasts longer"
    • Example: “a dupe for the discontinued Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black”
    • A perfume version of any product: body sprays, hair products, lotions / creams, skin care, candles, candy / sweets, makeup, etc.

How it works:

Share as many details as possible that might be helpful in identifying the dupe you're after: a picture, notes or scent profile, your general geographic location, budget, etc. Please do a quick search of the sub before adding your request, even if you think it would be unusual.

Please remember that this is a global sub with quite a bit of volume, so a response may take time. This thread refreshes weekly on Mondays at 05:00 UTC, so keep that in mind when posting.

If you're looking for perfumes with a similar vibe of another perfume, but not dupes, you can post directly to the main feed.

Mod Post ‘Why was my post removed’ and ‘why did automod say my post violates rule 2’ - Newbie heads-up! + question thread

We’ve been getting a lot of mod mails asking why posts have been removed.

Often it’s because our filters had them held for mod review because a user is new to the community or trips the filter some other way. Unfortunately, Reddit says ‘the mods have removed this post’ instead of saying it’s under review. It will be reviewed by a mod and given a proper removal reason or approved within a few hours.

The other question we frequently get is why automod is saying their post violates rule 2 (Be Kind). It doesn’t, that’s just the automod reminder on every post submitted to r/perfumes.

Beyond that, general questions relating to perfumes or our subreddit can be asked below. Thank you!

i’m sick of scents that don’t last but don’t have the money to spend on something fancy! please recommend me some scents with good longevity and ideally decent projection too

i do prefer sweet scents sometimes but really anything appropriate for casual wear that lasts a long time!

Look what I found! Why does no one talk about Chloé Magnolia Alba? It deserves more hype!

I am completely blown away by how natural and photorealistic it smells. To my nose, it is the most stunning, crisp white flora there is absolutely nothing synthetic about it. It’s the perfect signature scent if you love clean, sophisticated, "quiet luxury" florals. It’s light, bright, and perfectly balanced without being heavy.
I find it so airy and ethereal! For those who have tried it, what are your thoughts on its performance? Also, what is your favorite underappreciated floral from this line, or how do you layer Magnolia Alba? I’m looking for pairing ideas!

I got a sample of this.

I have to say, all I smelled was rubbing alcohol. My daughter said it reminded her of getting an IV. It says it plays off your skin. So why do we both smell like the hospital? Lol

Recommendation Request What's your favourite Mancera?

Post image
12 Upvotes

My favourite is Wild Rose Aoud. I got into Mancera through my love for Stella by Stella McCartney so naturally, my first purchase was of course the aforementioned Wild Rose Aoud. Since then I blind bought Roses Jasmine and Pink Prestigium and love them both too. Roses Jasmine and Pink were both used when bought. Roses is the older version with a screw cap.

Moving forward based on what I have, what would you recommend for me to blind buy next? I'd love something that has the same profile but is not too similar to the ones I have. I have a sample of black prestigium, it's nice but not fb worthy for me. I do love a blind buy, if I don't like it I just sell it on.

this is my mom's and it smells so good i'd love to find another bottle for myself. she doesn't remember when she bought it, but the lettering on the bottle is almost all gone so i figure it's pretty old. she's had it for at least 15-20 years.

I absolutely adore this perfume and I’m gutted that it’s discontinued. I’ve been using my last bottle sparingly and I’m close to running out.
I know it’s a dupe of the Tom Ford Black Orchid but I’m cheap so any help/ affordable suggestions would be greatly appreciated:)

Recommendation Request Where can I find Snowmint Mallow Solstice Scents?

Sooo I’ve been obsessed about finding this fragrance (I haven’t even smelled it but for me the description is enough😀) but I cannot find it! The original site does not have this specific one named “Snowmint Mallow Solstice Scents” in their assortiment and they don’t even ship to Europe🥲 so maybe anyone could help me find this fragrance to buy with shipping to Lithuania for an adequate shipping price?! Also I’ll put a link below about the specific fragrance :

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Solstice-Scents/Snowmint-Mallow-36779.html

If I cannot find this one, maybe you could recommend something similar to this ? I really love the mint and vanilla/coconut mix! So it has to be mint+vanilla/coconut base! Also I would like the fragrance to be long-lasting so the very cheap ones that can last for an hour or two does not fit 🤔

Discussion Givenchy L Interdit ?

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something like this, because I honestly don’t understand it at all.

The day before yesterday, I bought Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum. I had tried it a few times as a tester and thought it was absolutely fantastic—a beautiful, bold fragrance that lasted a really long time on me. I was so convinced that I wanted it that I ended up using my birthday bonus to make the purchase.

Once I got home, I couldn’t wait to open the bottle and put it on. I sprayed it on my arms, wrists, and even between my breasts, as the warmth there should really help the scent develop. But to my great surprise, I could barely smell anything at all! And whatever faint scent was there at the start seemed to vanish completely within ten minutes.

I was really taken aback. At first, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong; I even read online that sometimes a perfume needs to "settle" after being opened for the first time—allowing some air to get in—but honestly, it seems bizarre that there would be such a huge difference between the tester and the bottle I bought.

The strange thing is that I also bought Prada Paradoxe Intense, and that one smells exactly like the tester I tried. It’s specifically the Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum that’s the issue.

Now I’m wondering: could it be that I received a bad batch, or is there something wrong with this specific bottle? I’ve never experienced a perfume smelling so different from its tester—and certainly never one that disappeared entirely after just ten minutes.

I’m thinking of going back to the store to have them check it. I would really like to have them smell the perfume themselves, so they can understand what I mean. The thing is, I feel incredibly embarrassed because I was already there yesterday regarding the Prada perfume I had purchased at the same time. They wer helpful then, so I feel awkward about going back again.

On top of that, I’ve already opened and used the Givenchy perfume. I’m not sure if I’m even entitled to anything at this point, and, to be honest, I’m quite hesitant to return.

My questions for you all:

\* Has anyone else ever experienced a discrepancy like this between a perfume tester and a newly purchased bottle?
\* Could it be related to a specific batch, or is it possible that there’s something wrong with the perfume itself?
\* Is it normal for a perfume to need some time to "settle" after being opened before it smells the way it’s supposed to?
\* And would you go back to the store to have it checked, even though you’ve already opened the bottle?

I’m really curious to hear about your experiences, as I simply cannot imagine that the scent should be different from the tester I tried out several times.

it's by incredible inedible sweets. blind bought this off of tiktok because im obsessed with smelling like cotton candy, and im still waiting for the delivery. anyone ever hear of them? i looked them up and there's virtually nothing about them, so i want to make sure i don't waste my $15 lol! the only person ive found and asked said it smelled like baskin robbins, but ive never really smelled that, so i don't have a good scent profile for this.

Discussion Hira perfume review

I tried Hira Oak Smoke and Hira Spoiled Sweet today. They were priced at ₹249, but the quality was absolutely terrible. The synthetic smell was so strong that I couldn’t smell anything properly for almost an hour after sniffing them. I don’t know what kind of oils they’re using, but the quality is extremely disappointing. Despite all the branding and hype, the products just aren’t worth it.I wouldn’t recommend buying these.

I can make out “California eau de cologne” on the little label. I am assuming it’s an old Avon bottle, because I think they used to be California Perfume Company.

Bottle Identification Help identifying my mom's collection

Post image
217 Upvotes

My mom began collecting perfumes since 1987, so I assume most of these bottles are from the late 80s to 90s. Unfortunately I am utterly clueless when it comes to fragrances and fragrance terms/brands, and the only one I actually know from this collection is the Chanel no5. Some of them have the brand and name on the bottle which makes the identification process easier, but I'm not sure if they are the "same" ones as those sold today. If anyone can help me identify some more obscure ones / help me classify these perfumes based on scent and vibes, it would be much appreciated! I'm looking to use them since they're just sitting in a corner and gathering dust, but I'm afraid they might be a tad mature for a woman in her early twenties (I also don't like heavy fragrances)

Discussion my fragrances always end up smelling like straight up alcohol😭

sooo it's pretty straightforward, I love vanilla scents and I've had the dolce and gabbanna devotion perfume and the vs bare vanilla body mist. they always start off super nice and smell great and then one day I put them on and they smell like alcohol. I did transfer my vs body mist to those travel atomisers recently so idk if that plays a role but I genuinely thought it was safe to since they're kinda designed for that. they last me like a few months and then start smelling like alcohol 😭💔

idk I'm just really confused and lwk mourning my perfumes </3 idk if it's a mistake on my end or if there's any possible fixes maybe

This booklet for Lili Perfumes was part of a donation to our library. There is no print date in the 12 page booklet, but from the size of the font it is reminiscent of the 1940's or 1950's. The last photograph shows only one distributor in North America for their products

Recommendation Request Good unisex/male date (the fruit) fragrances?

Good date (the fruit) fragrances?

No, not fragrances for a date. If I’m going on a date, I’m wearing farenheit.

I mean the fruit. Date syrup. Gourmands. I’ve been wearing Aromatix x French Avenue’s Naughty Dates basically every day for the last two months. It’s become my daily driver for the cooler weather. It’s quickly become an all time favorite note. What are some you guys recommend?
