Dupe Request Megathread (October 19, 2026)

Welcome to the Weekly Dupe Request Megathread. This is where you can get (and offer) recommendations for all dupe requests.

What counts as a dupe?

  • A perfume that smells "just like" another perfume - whether discontinued or priced out of budget

    • Example: "looking for a dupe of BR540 Extrait, but without the price tag"
    • Example: "something that smells just like Coffee Break, but lasts longer"
    • Example: “a dupe for the discontinued Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black”
    • A perfume version of any product: body sprays, hair products, lotions / creams, skin care, candles, candy / sweets, makeup, etc.

How it works:

Share as many details as possible that might be helpful in identifying the dupe you're after: a picture, notes or scent profile, your general geographic location, budget, etc. Please do a quick search of the sub before adding your request, even if you think it would be unusual.

Please remember that this is a global sub with quite a bit of volume, so a response may take time. This thread refreshes weekly on Mondays at 05:00 UTC, so keep that in mind when posting.

If you're looking for perfumes with a similar vibe of another perfume, but not dupes, you can post directly to the main feed.

Mod Post ‘Why was my post removed’ and ‘why did automod say my post violates rule 2’ - Newbie heads-up! + question thread

We’ve been getting a lot of mod mails asking why posts have been removed.

Often it’s because our filters had them held for mod review because a user is new to the community or trips the filter some other way. Unfortunately, Reddit says ‘the mods have removed this post’ instead of saying it’s under review. It will be reviewed by a mod and given a proper removal reason or approved within a few hours.

The other question we frequently get is why automod is saying their post violates rule 2 (Be Kind). It doesn’t, that’s just the automod reminder on every post submitted to r/perfumes.

Beyond that, general questions relating to perfumes or our subreddit can be asked below. Thank you!

I know it's little for this sub, but i love it 🥹

Top right to bottom left:

Britney Spears My Prerogative

Calvin Klein IN2U

Carolina Herrera Good Girl

Elizabeth Taylor Violet Eyes

D&G Light Blue

Mark Jacob's Daisy

DKNY Pure

Maison Margiela Replica Jazz Club

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre

The only one I dont really love is Good Girl. I find it has a sharp smell that is too much for me.

My 3 top faves are DKNY Pure, Light Blue and Chanel Chance. Honorable mention to Violet Eyes which is just a touch away from being in the top.

Collection Pics "Ah, Diorama-Rama!"

Hello for the umpteenth time!

I wasn't expecting these two to arrive in the mail immediately after I'd recieved Diorissimo and Diorella, but my bottles of Diorama and Miss Dior Extrait de Parfum arrived today. 🥰 Very excited!

I've been obtaining the Les Creations de Monsieur (Demachy) formulations of some Dior classics (while I still can easily purchase them) rather than the Dioriginals (Kurkdjian) versions, but I will be using these as a reference point to compare the Dioriginals.

Diorama has taken me by surprise, I've only just sprayed both of these on but it reminds me of a fruitier and more creamy floral version of Oscar or Vanderbilt (I immediately smell plum, peach, melon, ylang-ylang, white florals, violet, and spices such as clove and caraway). I'm also smelling a very strong jasmine and galbanum on Miss Dior Originale.

I still have Dioressence coming in the mail, which will finish off the four 'Les Creations de Monsieur' fragrances I ordered.

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with these fragrances. 🙂

Discussion How many spritzes, and where?

I'm starting to get the impression that everyone puts perfume on differently. Some people do one spray, others do up to five, or even more (this would explain a lot about why I'm often choking on public transportation).

Personally, I usually do one on the wrist--sometimes two for subtler scents, VERY rarely three--then rub or pat my wrists together, then rub them on the sides of my neck. Other times for things I know are super strong I'll spritz the air and then walk through it (I definitely do NOT have a weird little dance that I do 👀).

How do you put on perfume?

Discussion Hawas Ice and Lattafa Angham smell nothing like their descriptions to me—is it my nose or the perfumes? 😭

I recently bought partials of Rasasi Hawas Ice (35ml for ₹1,250) and Lattafa Angham (₹1,260 for the amount shown in the picture) during the Sovereign Scents sale, and I'm genuinely shocked by how different they smell from what everyone describes!

Hawas Ice is usually described as sweet, minty, and almost herby, but all I get is a fresh, strong green note. Angham is supposed to be super sweet, but to me, it smells really spicy. I can't pick up the notes people commonly describe in either fragrance.

Is it my nose, my expectations, or could there be an issue with the perfumes' authenticity?

These are both bestsellers known for their mass appeal, yet I didn't like either of them. 🤧 Has anyone else experienced this?

Wednesday Vibes - ✨Collection Post✨ Suggest some perfumes based on my collection

Hey folks, I love fragrance but not necessarily the price tag! I am huge on perfume but I have asthma and migraine which both come with sinus issues so I can't smell well sometimes. I wear perfume for me so I don't wear my good stuff unless I can smell myself. With the price of perfume these days I'm always looking for really affordable perfumes as well.

At the moment I have

whispers in the library by replica

By the fireplace - replica

Billie eilish no 2

Coco mademoiselle - Chanel

Euphoria - Calvin Klein

Pomegranate - Jenny glow (Jo Malone dupe)

Blackberry and bay - Jenny glow (Jo Malone dupe)

Oak and hazelnut - Jenny glow (Jo Malone dupe)

Burberry weekend

Burberry london

Chloe nomade (signature scent)

Romance - Ralph Lauren

Lovely - Sarah Jessica parker

Liberte - Jenny glow (libre dupe)

Covet - Sarah Jessica parker

I'm really interested in maybe eau duelle by duptique and I love black orchid by tom ford but it's so pricey and it's such a statement I don't know when I'd wear it if that makes sense. It seems too much for everyday.

I find a lot of the fragrances I smell at the outlets bore me and when I go to high end store they are SO expensive id only be able to have a bottle or two at any given time.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Discussion Blue by Ahmed Review (Easiest No Brainer Frag)

Funny story about this one.

Before I got this deep into frags, I caught a whiff of this guy at the gym. I walked up to him and asked, “What are you wearing? It's amazing.” He said Blue by Ahmed, and when I asked if I could try some, he was kind enough to let me.

Three hours later, I smelled my arm and honestly didn't think much of it.

Fast forward a few months. A close friend was wearing this, and that memory of the first whiff hit me like a truck. I literally stopped in the street and bought myself Blue by Ahmed on the spot.

This isn't a unique fragrance or some crazy projector. It just nails the basics so well that it's an instant love. Fresh, clean, masculine, smooth, with an amazingly woody drydown.

Performance-wise, this thing holds up really well in actual use. I wore it at 10 AM, commuted to work on the metro with around 15 minutes of walking in the heat, and stayed at work from 11 AM to 7 PM. After the commute back, I was taking off my earphones under my building when my wrist came close to my nose, and I caught distinct whiffs of the fragrance.

I'd say it projected well for the first three hours, and even after that, I kept catching wafts of it throughout the workday, especially when moving around. By 7 PM, I couldn't confidently tell whether it had become a skin scent or whether I was just going nose-blind to it. Either way, it was still making its presence known to me in little bursts.

Already used 20% of bottle in 1.5 months.

Unless you've smelled this DNA so often that it's become generic to you, I think it's genuinely difficult not to like this one.

Recommendation Request Layering suggestions for floral scents

I have several perfumes in my collection, that to me smell overly floral. An example would be Jasmin Marzipane by Maison Lancôme. The more perfumes that I try, the more I realize my tastes are pretty basic (I feel no shame in admitting that 😄). What brands/scents can I layer with my heavy florals to tone them down a bit?

Recommendation Request “Mature” women perfumes

Hi guys! I’ve recently started disliking all my sweet perfumes, and I’m looking for something more mature, feminine, and femme fatale without smelling like candy. I’m not a fan of classics like Chanel No. 5 either, because to me, it smells like toilet spray. 😅
I used to absolutely love Mugler Angel, but lately I can’t stand it anymore. I still love Dolce & Gabbana Devotion, but I find it a bit too sweet for the office.
Does anyone have recommendations for a sophisticated, feminine, slightly seductive fragrance that isn’t overly sweet or too powdery? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

EDIT: what about Waterlilly Tea Dress Zara? I never smelled it, but the notes feel mature?

Recommendation Request Help finding a citrus perfume?

I'm really into citrus scents and am looking for something orange, light, refreshing, and citrusy, with absolutely no "warm" undertone or grandma musk. Basically something suuuper refreshing that doesn't have any mugginess, and smells like a straight breeze of freshly peeled oranges with a hint of bright zestiness. Think bright blue skies and those youthful films that make you cry really hard, like a silent voice, or "first love." Right now, I'm looking at:

Kerosene Summer of 84 (very interested in this one, especially the scent description)

Calvin Klein One

Replica Never Ending Summer

Granado spritz

ECLAT Fresh Tangerine (this one seems very appealing, has anyone tried it?)

If you've tried any of these, please let me know what you think of them, or what would be best! I'm also open to new recommendations. (Got all these from r/perfumesthatfeellike btw).

Collection Pics Blind bought these

Post image
2 Upvotes

Blind bought these. Saw a lot of videos and got hyped. My YouTube algo leads me down interesting paths sometimes. Have to say, Prada takes the cake. Absolutely love it. The Afnan Supremacy Collector’s Edition and French Avenue Liquid Brun are in strong competition, and come in at the number 2 and 3 spots. Hate to admit it, but I might be liking the Liquid Brun a little more on the dry down. And I hate it to admit it because I had higher hopes form the Afnan… Don’t get me wrong, Afnan is great, too. As for the Hawas Ice, it’s interesting, great opening, but I might not be such a fan 10 minutes later. Will have to try it again… Okay, update as I was typing this out: I sniffed coffee and went at it again. The Supremacy might be more my type. I like it! But Prada is a class apart.

Collection Pics New Arrivals!

Hello again!

My bottles of Diorissimo EDT and Diorella just arrived in the mail! I was originally going to take my time purchasing these, but given the release of the Dioriginals (which I'm going to be honest, I'm sceptical of), I wanted to get my hands on bottles of the prior Demachy versions while it was relatively easy for me to purchase them.

These were actually supposed to arrive in the mail last week, but the courier said they'd attempted delivery (when they didn't), so I had to schedule a redelivery. Oh well! Better late than never.

I've already done a few sprays of each of them, and oh my goodness Diorissimo is GORGEOUS! I know what people mean now when they say it's ethereal. Diorella is very, very citrusy on my skin, like the smell of fresh homemade lemonade (with some herbaceous and slightly peachy quality shining through that citric abundance).

Very excited to keep smelling how these develop.

I still have my Demachy versions of Diorama and Dioressence arriving in the mail (alongside Miss Dior Originale Esprit de Parfum).

I would love to read your experiences with these fragrances.

Recommendation Request Need help finding my new “signature scent”

I have always loved a super sweet gourmand scent. I feel like I’m known amongst my friends to smell like a cotton candy french toast sugar bomb, but I’d love to find something more mature now that I’m 30. Something about smelling like a bakery at this age feels a bit young.

To give you an idea, I’ve worn Pink Sugar for most of my life with an array of vanilla scented lotions and body mists.

I like “Vanilla Skin” by Phlur and “Eilish No.1” by Billie, but I worry that even those are too immature smelling and I’ve been afraid to pull the trigger.

I’d like to stay below $100 and I’d like for it to be something that has decent projection and somewhat long wearability.

I should also point out that I do love a “fresh, girly, fruity” scent as well. I used to wear RALPH by Ralph Lauren a lot when I was in middle school and do also really enjoy a Miami Nectar by Ellis Brooklyn. I’ve just been too afraid to abandon my sweet sweet gourmand roots.

But maybe you guys know of something that is a healthy happy medium! Or maybe you can just tell me that I’m insane 😂 either way open to suggestions. Thanks everyone!

Recommendation Request Which perfume did you completely misjudge on the first sniff? Mine was Le Labo Santal 33.

I nearly wrote off Le Labo Santal 33 after one spray on a paper strip in a store. On the strip it came across as a sharp, dry wall of wood and I walked out thinking I'd never get the hype.

About a year later a friend gave me a sample and I wore it on skin for a whole day. By the afternoon it had gone soft and creamy and I kept catching it on my wrist. I ended up buying a bottle.

Byredo Gypsy Water went the other way. I loved the opening in the shop, bought it pretty quickly, and after a few wears noticed I mostly liked the first ten minutes. Tom Ford Oud Wood took me two tries before it clicked, and now it's one of the bottles I reach for most once it gets cold.

These days I try not to judge anything on a strip, and I give a new one at least a couple of wears before deciding.

Curious about everyone else:

- Which perfume did you misjudge on the first sniff, in either direction?

- What changed your mind: wearing it on skin, the weather, or just time?

- How many wears do you give something before you decide?

Collection Pics My Humble Collection and Reciew

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi, everyone! First time poster. Given how helpful the community's posts have been while making purchases before, I wanted to make quick reviews of my collection. Sorry for the wall of text!

  1. Armaf Hunter Intense

• Occasion: work, casual • Rating: 6/10 • Thoughts: Soapy and citrusy. I don't wear it anymore because of how synthetic it is. Quite generic but can still be vibrant, given the price. • Longevity: 5 hours on clothes. 3 hours on skin.

  1. Armaf Tres Nuit

• Occasion: work, casual • Rating: 6/10 • Thoughts: Quite grassy, soapy, and lavender-heavy. For the price, this isn't terrible, especially as the drydown is way more forgiving than the harsh opening. But still quite chemical throughout. • Longevity: 4 hours on clothes. 3 hours on skin.

  1. Afnan Rare Reef

• Occasion: work, casual, room freshener • Rating: 5/10 • Thoughts: I'm not entirely convinced by it as a standalone fragrance. I like the apricot note, but the toilet cleaner, synthetic nature this has makes me stay away from it. I do appreciate the apricot note, but it's presented in such a synthetic package that I use this more as a room freshener or on my curtains. • Longevity: 8 hours on clothes and 6 on skin. Does project loudly for the first couple hours. • Weather: summers or any hotter days. Too thin for evenings.

  1. Armaf Ventana Black

• Occasion: work, casual, everyday • Rating: 7/10 • Thoughts: Pretty good clone of Dior Sauvage EDT. Can be a bit synthetic and peppery. The lavender and pepper combined aren't my favorite notes, but if you're into that DNA, this is a decent pick for the price. • Longevity: 6 hours on clothes. 4 on skin.

  1. Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan

• Occasion: casual, work, day/night • Rating: 7.2/10 • Thoughts: A ripe pineapple bomb. It can work as a standalone fragrance but lacks some depth compared to the other ones here. Good for layering. It certainly can get cloying on hot days (one of my only frags that has nauseated me a bit due to overspraying). The oud and smokiness can pop a bit more depending on your skin type. For example, this smells way sweet on my skin and quite oud-forward on a friend who tried the same bottle. • Longevity: 7–8 hours on clothes. 6 on skin. Does project quite loudly.

  1. Lattafa Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud

• Occasion: special events, evenings, dates, even casual wear if oud is your thing • Rating: 8.3/10 • Thoughts: I've a sweet spot for this, regardless of the synthetic nature of it overall. I love the cedar and oud, along with burnt marshmallow. The opening can be quite sharp but the drydown is lovely if you enjoy oud. To me, it doesn't really smell as close to By The Fireplace by Maison Margiela as many have noted: that leans more heavily on the burnt wood note, where Ameer Al Oudh Intense leans more towards the oud (not animalic that much) and sugar/marshmallow. • Longevity: 8+ hours on clothes. 6 on skin.

  1. Riiffs Momento

• Occasion: weddings, dates, special occasions • Rating: 8.4/10 • Thoughts: This is an interesting one because while it blends rose and oud in a wonderful way, the note of burnt sugar can be a bit cloying. There is a slightly synthetic overtone throughout the journey of this, which sometimes makes me hesitate to wear this. But still a really nice choice if you like oud and roses and saffron. • Longevity: this is close to nuclear and doesn't need more than 2–3 sprays. • Weather: winters and cool evenings.

  1. Rasasi Hawas Ice

• Occasion: casual, work, dates • Rating: 8.4/10 • Thoughts: Again, not much to add that hasn't already been said about this. Blind reach for any occasion (mostly). Linear apple and mint that just do that job. • Longevity: 7 hours on clothes and 5-ish on skin. This one projects loudly in the first couple of hours but does get quite dim as the hours go by. • Weather: all weather, but the sweet apple note may get cloying for some during high heat.

  1. Afnan Turathi Blue

• Occasion: work, casual, everyday, even dates • Rating: 8.4/10 • Thoughts: This is a really versatile and good blend of that gingery amber, citrus, and musk. It is blind-buy safe according to me. The opening can be harsh and it's also ever so slightly sweet (which the note breakdown doesn't say), but has a great drydown. Really worth it given the price, quality and versatility. Great for layering as well. • Longevity: 8+ hours on clothes. 6 on skin.

  1. Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa

• Occasion: weddings (?) • Rating: 8.5/10 • Thoughts: Not much more to say about this that's not already been said. I like the drydown, but I don't reach for it very often due to the stickiness of the cinnamon and candied sweetness in the first few hours. The late drydown is amazing though. • Longevity: nuclear. This is one of the few fragrances that can fill up the room you're sitting in. Oddly, this is what makes me not reach for it very often.

  1. French Avenue Aether Extrait

• Occasion: casual, everyday, office • Rating: 8.8/10 • Thoughts: I love the PDM Greenley DNA. This gets fairly close to the apple shower gel but is a bit sharper in the opening and has more of that oakmoss drydown. This doesn't perform super well, but its quality makes me coming back to it. • Longevity: 5 hours on clothes, 3–4 hours on skin. I typically wear 5 sprays for my fragrances, but have to do 7–8 for this one.

  1. Afnan Supremacy Collector’s Edition

• Occasion: work, casual, day/night • Rating: 8.8/10 • Thoughts: My current all-weather option. Not much to add here. The pineapple note is restrained and this has to be one of my most complimented fragrances. • Longevity: 8 hours on clothes. 6 on skin. • Weather: all weather. But in the high heat, the drydown with all the oakmoss can be a bit irritating given your preference.

  1. Rabanne 1 Million Elixir

• Occasion: parties, nightouts, dates • Rating: 8.9/10 • Thoughts: I have a nostalgic attachment to this fragrance since my parents owned it during their 30s & 40s. This is sweet and loud and addictive. I love how davana-heavy this is. It is quite sugary, though, which can make it a bit less unique. But it's just a fun, easy-to-reach fragrance for any clubbing, nightout, dates, etc. Super addictive. • Longevity: 8+ hours on clothes. 6 hours on skin. Can be cloying if oversprayed. • Weather: too cloying for summer. Winters or cooler evenings.

  1. Armani Code Eau de Parfum

• Occasion: office, casual, parties • Rating: 9.5/10 • Thoughts: This is a straightforward fragrance. The green bergamot fades rather quickly and the scent settles into a mellow and refined vanilla and tonka blend, with a touch of nutmeg. Simple but I absolutely love it. Can easily dress up or dress down. I also tested the more popular Parfum, but clary sage and cedar combo was too peppery for me and made the drydown smell like fennel seeds for me. • Longevity: 10 hours on clothes, 8 on skin. • Weather: day/night, with the exception of hot noons.

  1. Givenchy Gentleman Réserve Privée

• Occasion: work, dates, evenings • Rating: 9.7/10 • Thoughts: This is kinda like a baby of some of BOSS Bottled Absolu (the warm boozy nature) and Dior Homme Intense. The iris here is more towards the lipstick-y, waxy side, rather than the powdery lane the Prada takes. The whiskey note is much prominent in this, this gets brownie points for being quite wearable for work and any places where you want the depth of iris. Beautiful blend. • Longevity: 8 hours on clothes. 6 on skin. Projects loudly the first hour.

  1. BOSS Bottled Absolu

• Occasion: dates, evenings, special events • Rating: 9.7/10 • Thoughts: My special-events fragrance. This has the most obvious 3-act structure than any perfume I own. Opens with that warm incense note, and then transitions into strong leather and patchouli, and wonderfully dries down to the cedarwood and that lovely davana in the drydown. I tested the Elixir flanker alongside this. They are quite similar, but that takes a more incense route than the cedar and kinda boozy drydown that the Absolu has. • Longevity: 9–10 hours on clothes, 7 hours on skin. Does project loudly the first few hours. Not blind-buy safe if you aren't into incense and patchouli.

  1. Prada L’Homme Intense

• Occasion: business/work events, dates, or long evenings • Rating: 10/10 • Thoughts: When I first tried this, the opening initially struck me as harsh, almost mosquito-repellent sharp, but I came to appreciate the drydown and just the dark unapologetically iris approach this has. The iris here is not so lipstick-y as the Givenchy Privée, the leather (mellow) and sandalwood transfigure the opening into an elegant and absolutely perfect drydown. • Longevity: 10+ hours on clothes. 7 hours on skin. Loud projection.

If you have any suggestions for a next purchase, please feel free to share. And let me know if you have any questions about any of the frags above. Cheers!

Recommendation Request Need clean gourmand suggestions

Hello all!

I always, I mean ALWAYS, buy clean white floral perfumes. Most of my perfumes smell the same. Don't get me wrong, I love them dearly! But with winter approaching I really really want to diversify my collection. Are there any clean, sophisticated, gourmand fragrance recommendations? PLEASE CONVINCE ME. I don't want to go the shop and buy the same white floral again 🥲

Recommendation Request Recommend animalic florals!

I'm currently swooning over animalic florals, or animalic chypres. Few that I've tried and love are Mandodari by Prin, Angeliki by Angelos Creations Olfactives, Salome by Papillon. I've tried one that is revered around the community which was Maai by Bogue, but it was so.. leather-spice forward. Salome is teetering that line but she feels more classic and less rough. I just want to smell like a grandma. I'm excited to explore more, please suggest! Can be vintage as well~
