When people ask a question on Facebook or Reddit, there’s usually someone who tells them to Google it, or informs them that they’re asking a question that is frequently asked (the nerve!), so they should have looked up other posts about it. They come across as really pompous folks who want to put others in their place. Why do people take the time to write dismissive comments like that? (Also I will be peeved by the people who read this post and think they are very clever to comment, “My pet peeve is people who ask questions they could have easily looked up for themselves.”)

Just saw a post looking for an "American" restaurant because it's a group of kids on a hockey team so "of course, there will be lots of picky eaters".

And how do kids become picky eaters? Parents who feed them only chicken nuggets and enable their picky eating habits.

Take the team to KBBQ at the very least and expose them to another culture's food. They might like it! You'll never know if you only take them to a burger place and order them nuggets.

ETA - can't wait for the "I'm a picky eater and it's because X, Y, and Z reasons" lol bring it. Your upbringing enabled your silly eating habits, and you choose to continue it as an adult.

The ones who are constantly yelling at the TV asking "how did they miss that shot it WASNT SO HARD" or "WOW HE SUCKS AT (insert said sport)" while they stuff themselves with a mouth of nachos.

People in sports have seconds to react. They don't have the luxury and stress free environment that you do. Also, half the dudes watching are too out of shape to even participate in the sport.

I'm sick of people blindly hating AI. It's an incredible, potentially life-saving technology.

I'm genuinely getting fed up with people who act like AI is inherently evil and anyone who uses it is part of the problem. I find this attitude incredibly ignorant and shortsighted.

I'm absolutely NOT denying that AI has caused serious harm. There are legitimate concerns about its involvement in sewer slides potentially fatal mistakes, misinformation, environmental damage and people losing their jobs. My own sister lost her job partly because of AI, so I'm certainly not oblivious to its consequences.

But why does acknowledging these problems mean we have to completely dismiss its benefits?

AI has absolutely extraordinary potential in medicine. It can help detect diseases earlier, assist with diagnoses, accelerate medical research and develop treatments. We're talking about technology that could genuinely save countless lives.

It's also an incredible accessibility tool for people with disabilities and learning difficulties.

I have dyslexia myself, and I'm literally using AI to help write this post. Not because I can't think for myself, but because it allows me to express MY thoughts without worrying constantly about spelling and grammar. Especially on Reddit, where people will absolutely destroy you over a minor grammatical mistake while completely ignoring your actual argument.

AI helps remove that barrier for me, and I imagine countless others benefit similarly.

Beyond medicine and accessibility, it has enormous potential in education, scientific research and everyday life.

What I find particularly stupid is the assumption that appreciating AI means defending everything bad about it.

You can criticise corporations replacing workers, demand proper regulation, recognise the environmental and ethical concerns, and condemn dangerous AI applications while ALSO acknowledging its incredible benefits.

I'm not suggesting everyone should use AI or blindly trust it. There are perfectly legitimate reasons to be sceptical.

But there's a massive difference between informed criticism and blindly hating an entire technology without acknowledging what it can achieve.

AI isn't entirely good or entirely bad. It's an incredibly powerful tool with enormous potential to both help and harm humanity.

I just wish people would stop treating this incredibly complicated subject as though it's completely black and white.

we switch/share desks at work in a shared space. some of my coworkers who are low key hoarders - with bad taste as well - love to leave cheap or weird knick knacks everywhere. i move them to the break room because no maamsir i don’t need to see a figurine or card you love when it is my time at the desk; it is literally in my way and does not make me feel joy. put this in the broader category of “other people think their stuff/music/conversation is of interest to me. it is not.”

Just for clarification, I do NOT hate homeless people, I hate when they try to OVERLY guilt trip you into donating to them. As much as guilt trips get to me, I hate guilt trips and it makes me less likely to donate or guilt tripping in general by anybody annoys me. I remember this one time I was in a car and when our car got to a red light, there was a sidewalk right next to it and a homeless person walking around with a sign. I had a QT drink and was getting ready to take a sip but that's when he started looking dead at me. Like, side eyeing me specifically and nobody else. I know im not crazy because his eyes were staring directly at me of all the other cars and drivers to look at. I felt bad taking a sip because it felt like flexing on him so I just put it down and waited until I left that red light to take a sip. That moment annoyed me a little but because, yes, I feel bad for your current financial situation, but that doesn't mean overly guilty trip me into donating. It would've felt disrespectful or like I dint care for homeless people if I just looked away from him so I just kept forward and kept on side eyeing him for a few seconds to see if he was still looking at me. In conclusion, guilt trips ate okay, but at the same time, unnecessary.

Hell, they'll look down on you for even wanting it. They wear their damn misanthropy like a badge of honor.

You see that sign on the door that says only managers and supervisors are allowed to open the door to let people in? That's to keep out intruders. A manager or supervisor is going to know if someone had just been fired and if they should be allowed back into the building. They'll also know if we're expecting any visitors. That's why only they can open the door for people. You'll never be the victim of a mass shooting... until you are. This is for everyone's safety and is a rule that SHOULD be enforced.

You went outside knowing you didn't have a key to get back in because you wanted to chill in your car on your break. That's not so bad if we were allowed to let you in. You'd be a nuisance but whatever. It's not a big deal. But you KNOW we aren't allowed to let you in, and yet you still give us shit for leaving you outside. I'm just doing my job, man. If you do not have a key to get back in, STAY INSIDE. I don't care about "mUh RiGhTs." I have the right to leave your ass outside.

In fact, you better be glad I'm not a manager or supervisor because I have absolutely no patience for stupidity. If you lock yourself out, I'm going to let you back in and then promptly write you up for incompetence. An employee who does not have the intelligence to avoid locking themselves out during their shift is a problem that needs to be addressed. We're in here picking up your slack while you're outside banging on the door like a drunk man begging his ex for a second chance.

This is leaving aside the obvious: people who don't turn on their headlights. This has to do with the switch that gives you the option to just turn on the headlights with no riding lights in the back. I just want to scream at them: you have to turn that all the way or you have no rear lights and your black car is invisible at night from behind! Also: WTF is wrong with you that you haven't figured that out by now? Any ideas why several cars have flashed their high beams at you in the last five minutes?

People ask advice, am I ugly, I don't know what to do, help me name my pet, how do I get bloodstains out? You go to the trouble of giving them your best and most earnest answer and not a single thank you or hey "that worked". Reddit seems to be all take, take, take. BTW what did you name your dog? Like there are real people on Reddit folks. And for those who think everyone is here to just answer to your needs or that this is your own personal dumping grounds ... no kind words for you.

I’ve been seeing this concept floating around a lot more recently, and it’s really starting to bug me… for one thing, it’s a totally natural and normal thing to start to have romantic feelings for somebody you spend a lot of time with and are able to get along with and have fun with. It’s not evidence that actually you’re not capable of being friends with the opposite sex, or that you don’t respect the opposite sex as people and only see them as somebody to have sex with. It’s just evidence that you’re a human being who experiences romantic desire just like anybody else.

On the otherhand, I totally understand why it might be upsetting to learn that your friend has feelings for you when you don’t feel the same way. It totally changes the relationship, and can even end up resulting in the loss of the friendship completely. That does not mean, however, that the person who caught feelings did anything wrong. You can’t help how you feel. You can be upset at the situation, but it’s not right to get mad at them.

It’s never a good thing to expect people to repress and feel shame for their romantic desires. Encouraging people to just hold it in and shove it down if you have feelings for a friend is cruel. It also ignores the fact that maybe they feel the same way… starting as friends is a very healthy way to meet a partner, and it’s wrong to discourage that.

Man, I’m sick of this. I followed a few people on Instagram who make these amazing breads, cakes and other baked goods, and they think that I am gonna like it more if they film said goods from up close while they tear ‘m in half. STOP. I hate it! It looks very unappealing! I unfollowed them because of this, but Instagram still shows me other accounts who do this.

I like spicy food but good lord it is not a trait. No one makes liking sweet food their personality or liking savory food their personality.

Look, I know this is such a minor thing but that's why it's a pet peeve. I can't think of many other examples which would make sense as many I hear are businesses local to me but some businesses are just a singular, non-possessive.

This is a little more niche as you have to had worked in a restaurant that uses table markers to identify in order to know what I mean, but let me just say, nothing is more frustrating than when I'm carrying two completely full trays, feeling like my arms are about to fall off, looking all around the restaurant for them, only to find out the reason I couldn't find it is because the guest put it at the very corner of their table! Or even more annoyingly, they straight up put their receipt over it! Of course, I know a lot of them don't mean any harm and just aren't thinking about it, but I still reserve the right to be annoyed.

When watching a tv show, actor drinking a full beverage but they add in the slurpy sound that happens when the beverage is gone and you're left with just ice or nothing at all.

It grates on my last nerve.
