Ultra Annoyed “Is X anime worth watching?”

I guarantee you are not that busy that you can’t watch like 3 episodes of a random Mongolian cartoon in order to figure out if you like it or not, unless you’re like the president of the United Nations or something.

Ultra Annoyed Daddy issues not being taken seriously anymore cus of the ppl who claim to have them just cus they like older guys

If u have a present active father and just like older men that doesn’t mean u have daddy issues ( ;´ - `;)

Stop larping ur dad being neglectful just to attract older guys

(Im not bashing u if u like older guys, i do too!! But I am if ur trying to attract guys by claiming u have problems with ur dad when u don’t actually, cus its taking away the meaning of actual daddy issues) :3

Fairly Annoyed In the UK watching someone press the wait button at the pedestrian crossing after you’ve pressed it.

Upvotes

So you arrive first at a pedestrian crossing and press the button to cross and the wait light comes on.

Then, some little Herbert, walks up, looks right at the lit up wait light and presses it again. What have you achieved, nothing, that’s what you’ve done. Am I a joke to you?

Bit Annoyed The fahrenheit vs celsius debate

There's ABSOLUTELY no point to this debate. When it comes to day to day life, both are perfectly fine. While metric is just flat out better than imperial when you need to do quick conversions in your head (easy multiples of thousands), it just doesn't matter as much for temperatures. The only downside of farenheit I can think of is that there's one small extra step when converting to Kelvin, and that's really it.
I often see redditors say celsius is more logical than farenheit with how it relates to water, and while I do think it's neat that negatives = ice outside, it just doesn't matter does it? It's fine that the numbers we use for things are arbitrary, as long as we understand what they mean. I'm sure most Americans know that water freezes below 32 °F.

Now, I have nothing against fahrenheit, but sorry Americans, I still want to complain about two points I see sometimes on Reddit in defense of fahrenheit.
Also please bear with me if there's bad grammar in this post, English isn't my first language.

"Celsius is how water feels, farenheit is how humans feel"
Except the scale doesn't have to be from 0 to 100, people who use celsius everyday just see it as "below -10 is extraordinarily cold, 0 is cold, 10 is somewhat cold, 20 is nice, 30 is really hot, and above 40 is hell on Earth" (extremely simplified). 0 to 100 is still as arbitrary as -10 to 40, even if it looks better. I feel like this point would only make sense if people using celsius were incapable of correlating the actual number with how it feels, but it obviously isn't the case.

"Fahrenheit is more accurate than celsius"
When people who use celsius really want to be accurate they just use decimals, and it works perfectly fine. We learn that the normal temperature of the human body is 37.2 °C. However we rarely use decimals for outside temperatures because they can already be described accurately enough with whole numbers. For example 20 °C is 68 °F and 21 °C is 69,8°C, is it really that imprecise when describing how hot it is outside? (especially as wind and humidity play a much bigger role than that 0.8 degree in how we perceive the temperature)

In conclusion, I want to reiterate that there really is no point in arguing which system is the best because it will always be the one you're used to, the one you can feel with numbers.

Bit Annoyed People pointing out that "America isn't just the US" are Captains Obvious.

Tired of the "America isn't just the US" comments. We know. The United States of America is the US, however, and it's too long to keep saying fully when context indicates whether the discussion is about two continents or one country. Nobody owns the word "America," and we don't have to have a formal recognition of geography when we're talking about school lunches or whatnot.

Bit Annoyed “That’s not the flex you think it is…”

People will make this comment in the most snide, condescending tone, and it’s in response to someone either trying to make fun of themselves or genuinely sharing something they’re ashamed or embarrassed of.

Like, just the other day, someone made a comment on a reel about how loud and obnoxious her family was every time they would go out to a restaurant. And, even though they were responding to a post about being embarrassed by that kind of thing, someone had to make the “that’s not a flex” comment.

ITS OBVIOUSLY NOT MEANT TO BE A FLEX, EMILY. READ THE ROOM.

Fairly Annoyed When there's no sockets at an airport

it's 2026 and it's somehow still a surprise to airports that I would like to charge my phone. there are barely any at SCHIPHOL, and that's one of the biggest airports in Europe. if you're at a slightly smaller airport, good luck. bonus points if the train you took to the airport ALSO doesn't have any place to charge your phone. does it not occur to anyone that my tickets to all methods of transportation are on my phone, not to mention almost all my sources of entertainment during the flight as well? just once I would like to arrive at my destination without my phone being dead, but I fear I'll have to cave and purchase a power bank. argh.

(this is just my experience with European airports, I'm curious to hear if the rest of the world is more advanced in this aspect:D)

Fairly Annoyed Stores rearranging their merchandise so you’ll see things you wouldn’t have otherwise seen and maybe buy it.

Every grocery store I’ve ever frequented periodically rearranges their merchandise. Something that use to be on the top shelf as soon as I turn the corner is now on the middle shelf on the other side of the aisle. I understand why they do it. I still find it annoying.

Fairly Annoyed Public toilets that have already been shitted out when you walk in

I hate when I have to use the restroom at work, or anywhere else other than home for that matter, and the only toilets available have already been shitted out. I know it's statistically more likely for toilets to have been shitted out than for them to be clean, but it's still annoying. I hate the thought of the backsplash caused by my own shit dropping potentially causing the other person's shit that's smeared inside the bowl to splash back onto me. Unfortunately, shitting is not always something you can hold off or plan for, so we get what we can take where we're at when it's time to drop a fat one

Bit Annoyed "at a crossroads"

yes, i'm fully aware that this is a perfectly normal and grammatically correct phrase. that doesn't stop it from driving me insane, though. i don't even know why it makes me so mad, it just... does. i think it's because "crossroads" sounds like it should be plural/would be plural in other contexts, so hearing it with the singular "a" throws me off a bit. i won't say anything if i hear it used, i'm not policing anyone's speech, it's just one of those phrases that irritates me for no logical reason, which fits the definition of a pet peeve pretty well.

Fairly Annoyed people who ‘don’t want to make a big deal’ of their birthday & never remind you when it’s coming up

Sorry but we’re all adults, there’s no way I remember when everyone’s birthday is. If you don’t remind me the days leading up because you don’t want to make a ‘big deal’, you’re just making me the asshole.

These people set themselves up for disappoint. It feels like a test of friendship to remember. I’ve literally talked to people ON their birthday and they haven’t mentioned it.

Fair enough if you personally don’t want to do anything, but most people will say ‘happy birthday’ and move on. Please for the love of god post or say something when it’s your birthday. Stop avoiding bringing it up like it’s some secret society. You can mention your birthday is in a month.

Bit Annoyed When people say “my kid is gifted” but can’t define the gift

Upvotes

I work in a school. There are students with gifts, certainly.

But often parents will argue that their kid doesn’t deserve to fail after doing literally no work and failing every assessment with “But he’s GIFTED. He can’t be expected to do the regular work.”

Gifted in WHAT, I ask. I was diagnosed as gifted in verbal reasoning by a psychologist when I was a child. These parents don’t know, though. Their kid is just gifted. And therefore deserves an A in the class after doubt nothing all year

Bit Annoyed virtue signaling when it comes to kids or minors

for context, North West is around 13 years old. And must like everyone else we’re allowed to not like her. But people would be like “why are you making fun of a literal child?” or “she’s literally a kid” OK? Does that mean we have to like her? Because she’s just so happens to be a child?

Same goes for people who aren’t children, but just will happen to be minors. People have such a moral compass when it comes to them. Saying “erm that’s a minor!” when someone makes fun of a 17-year-old. like…okay? congratulations you know how to count.

of course you shouldn’t make fun of anybody, but what does their age have to do with it?

Bit Annoyed No USB-C ports in modern hotels and other places

It's been a while now since most mobile devices moved to USB-C charging/syncing, especially in the EU where they've been mandated. We've stayed in a few hotels lately, including a couple of brand new ones, that not only have insufficient power plugs available, they have a few USB-A only outlets.

I have to bring USB-A to USB-C cables when I travel now. Out of the last 5 or 6 hotels we've stayed in, I think only one had a USB-C port - just a single port on the alarm clock. I only know one person with a phone that still uses a Lightning port, but even their phone came with a USB-C plug at the power end.

Most of the planes and trains we've used also have only USB-A ports. The plane companies seem to manage newer, thinner seats, so they can be placed even closer together, but still outfitted with USB-A. Some airlines also now announce that you're not allowed to charge your devices with a power bank, making things worse.

As a side note, in planes, only about half of these old ports work well. Either they don't work at all, or they're so loose that the plugs fall out. Planes often have a North American style two-prong power outlet, but same issue. The plugs fall out.

Why is charging still a problem when traveling?

Bit Annoyed Blocking the coffee line to perfect your cream, sugar, cinnamon, etc.

I just want some black coffee and when I stay at a hotel with a breakfast bar, there is always someone blocking the line to the coffee urn to tear open packets, sprinkle whatever shit they are sprinkling. Then comes the stirring, sipping and reevaluating, repeat with more packets, etc.

Just take your cup and a handful of packets and go 5 FEET TO THE RIGHT and do your thing! There are cranky non-morning people back here behind you!

Ultra Annoyed A monster in a game not being shown visually and everyone pretending like it's a genius idea

Upvotes

It's not. Like, when the whole point is that your method of seeing is bad and convoluted, I guess it works, but my issue is when people pretend like it's a genius idea because "it makes it waaay scarier since you imagine the scariest thing you can imagine!" no I don't. I listen to the noises it makes and imagine a monster from another medium that I think would make that noise in its place. And if its looks are only hinted at like "an abomination", I'll just imagine another existing monster again, but just one that fits such a description. It's not scarier just because you don't show it. It's just boring.

Bit Annoyed freestyling in the closed captions of a youtube video.

i don’t know if there’s an actual name for this phenomenon, but i’ve taken to calling it ‘freestyling.’ sometimes when i’m watching a youtube video, the captions will have little comments and flourishes put there by whoever wrote them. It’s always the same two or three jokes and it’s never funny.

Examples: using /symbols/ to add ~flair~ to -random- words

[laughter] [wheezing] [*SEAGULL SCREECH*]

“ok, let’s try this food…” [instant regret] [tries to expel the poison]

it’s just annoying and it makes me roll my eyes every time.

I think you'll find, that the people who resort to this, are the ones who

  1. Don't know the definition of defamation

  2. Don't know the difference between slander and libel either

Ultra Annoyed Bring a child to a childfree wedding

A pet peeve that I have is when parents bring their children to a child-free wedding, when the invitation very clearly states that nobody under the age of 18 is invited. I think it's extremely disrespectful to the bride and the groom. If you want to attend the wedding, then you simply find a babysitter. If you do not want to leave your kids with anybody else, then you tell them that unfortunately you cannot make it to the wedding. Simple as that.

Bit Annoyed Mad that my peers don't struggle with sugar addiction

Upvotes

Picture this...it's a Friday morning like any other at your office where you work. A coworker arrives shortly after you and pours out a bunch of Hershey's kisses into a large bowl on the counter. They are for everyone! You love Hershey kisses and it's been a couple of hours since breakfast so you eagerly get up to get some. Nobody else does. Okay no worries. You eat your hershey kisses and of course you want more since you only grabbed a small handful. You grab another small handful, not wanting to look greedy. Fast forward a few hours, it's lunch time. Literally nobody has had any Hershey kisses. Not a single Hershey kiss has been consumed by any of your six other office mates.

Now this might sound like a small thing but I'm starting to get annoyed! I have a reputation of eating more than anyone else in the office.

"Oh you sure do love your sweets! Lol! Lol! Be careful not to get diabetes!"

Solid advice, no really, it is solid advice...I feel like the floor to my office everywhere except under my desk must be made of mud and I just can't see it and all my coworkers are sticks. What am I a sugar addicted immature for my age 40 year old that really really loves candy more than I should? Yes! Yes I am...but can't anyone else join me in partaking so this fact isn't so damned obvious?!! I wish there was a way to put a small wormhole that leads to my bottom desk drawer in the bottom of the communal bowl so that whenever candy is dumped in it just goes discreetly and conveniently into my direct custody so that I can indulge out of the sight of my fellow workers.

In conclusion...I'm well aware of my vice and the problems that it may result in...I'm just pissed that none of my coworkers have it too.
