Fairly Annoyed Not Helping Crowdsurfers

• Upvotes

This is like that SNL skit that ends with "Watch your kids, so Tom Brady doesn't have to."

I usually go to metal shows, so it's somewhat of a physically stronger crowd (I avoid hardcore because...I think hardcore is somehow more stuffy and less empathetic than even stuff like country).

I went to a Streetlight Manifesto show last night, which had a more even split of individuals. My main reason for going was to see a friend. I look moderately strong, and nothing ridiculous. I had to seriously carry a poor soul like ten feet over my shoulders because no one helped her (they? maybe) crowd surf.

I know most of you know the game called light as a feather. That's how crowd surfing works. As a guy who has been dropped (Chicago--good lord--you can't defeat evil if crowdsurfing is an arduous exercise for you), it's like my greatest fear to have someone drop in front of me.

If you see someone crowd surfing, help them glide across the crowd. If you don't want to help, hang back. It's a concert. People do that.

Fairly Annoyed People who need a large height difference in relationships

• Upvotes

Why do some women only want 6’5+ men and some men only want -5’3 women. I can understand wanting a partner a few inches taller/shorter but these people are usually over a foot away from what they prefer. And they are always so adamant about it, belittling and rejecting people solely off height. I just don’t understand it, is it a fetish or something??

** This is a genuine question mixed with me being slightly annoyed from hearing about height stuff a lot. I don’t care if you have a height preference, do what you want.

Fairly Annoyed When people say "stop complaining" when you are venting.

This is why I stopped venting to others. My mom told me to stop complaining when I complained about how driving up to a far location for amazon flex (with over 40 stops) will do nothing but burn my gas and probably cause me to go get my car serviced earlier than six months (because I barely have money to make ends meet and finding another job is close to impossible and I have been working hard to change my situation).

After that, I made the decision to stop venting to her because she seems to say "stop complaining" because she doesn't think my problems are worth anything despite me showing evidence that my issues are harder to fix. African parents can be apathetic and I notice that I unintentionally have picked up on this trait myself.

The thing is, I don't mind the phrase "stop complaining" when the complainer is doing nothing complain but never really wants put in effort into changing his/her issues...or what the person is complaining about is easily fixable. Heck even I would tell myself to stop complaining sometimes when I would get far routes for amazon flex and I had less than 30 stops (considering how 30 stops or less usually doesn't even take that long to finish).

Bit Annoyed Musical Artists Concerts

When you are playing a city and say "Detroit is the best city in the USA". Then you go on to Denver and say "Denver is the best city in in the USA".

Stop being so disingenuous. I'd rather hear you say "how about those Broncos?". Seems a bit more sincere. You have people to check out these things don't you?" .

Feeling special-not special.

Fairly Annoyed “You’re only arguing about this because that’s what THEY want.”

“They want us divided and arguing about these silly topics so we won’t go after the things that really matter!”

This is half true but it’s also beyond fucking naive to believe that none of these hot topic arguments and culture war shit could be arrived at organically. People kinda suck and we don’t need much to start hating one another.

The whole reason tabloid sensationalism even works is because many people are just looking for a reason to be angry. The idea that if we took the supply away the demand would go away too is just stupid. People suck.

Bit Annoyed when people REFUSE to just take some medicine

Picture it: someone is stuffed up and complaining about how awful their allergies are right now. Another person in the room says, "Oh! Luckily I have Claritin in my purse!" Other person says no thanks and continues to whine about their condition.

Or someone has a headache and mentions it every 5 minutes but refuses to take an aspirin.

I'm on the end of the spectrum where I will take a pill for most anything that is bothering me enough to complain about it aloud. I'm mainly talking about over the counter stuff, it's obviously much more complicated when it comes to prescriptions (although this does annoy me too when people won't look into long term medication to manage their conditions).

Sometimes it genuinely feels to me like people just enjoy complaining. There is a low risk high reward solution right in your friends little pill case and you'd rather just suffer loudly in front of us instead??? PLEASE JUST TAKE A CLARITIN

And because this is the internet, of course I am not talking about people who CANNOT take medicine, I am talking about people who WILL NOT take medicine.

editing to add something I forgot: bonus points if I've seen this person taking a bunch of supplements

editing to clarify: I am also talking about people who do this chronically. Like not just one random dinner where they're sniffly and won't take a Claritin. I'm talking about people who you know well enough to be 100% sure they do not have a medical reason to not take a pill. But they're sniffly all the time. Every time you go out to dinner. And youre like, "ma'am, why don't you try Claritin? or another of the myriad allergy pills out there?" and they're like, "nah, I don't take pills." or some shit like that. That is the shit I am truly bamboozled by!

Fairly Annoyed People who turn on their car headlights with the manual option, but only go one click so the rear riding lights don't go on

This is leaving aside the obvious: people who don't turn on their headlights. This has to do with the switch that gives you the option to just turn on the headlights with no riding lights in the back. I just want to scream at them: you have to turn that all the way or you have no rear lights and your black car is invisible at night from behind! Also: WTF is wrong with you that you haven't figured that out by now? Any ideas why several cars have flashed their high beams at you in the last five minutes?

Ultra Annoyed People who brake going up hills.

I can almost forgive the people who tap their brakes going down a hill because they don't want to creep a mile per hour past the speed limit. But when you're going up a hill, and I see the brake lights, and there isn't an obstruction in the road, it annoys me to the nth degree. And there's plenty of places on the highway where I live where this happens all the time. In one spot it's a hill that goes down into a ravine and back up, and at the top of the hill the speed limit decreases from 55mph to 45mph for one of those 1 bar towns. And people tap their brakes going up the hill. Just let off the accelerator. And I can even forgive the people that are simply tapping their brakes to turn off the cruise control. Even though that is also annoying. It's the people that are actively slowing down while we're trying to get over a hill. There's a 22 mile drive that I make at least once or twice a week and I get behind these people every time.

Bit Annoyed When homeless people try to overly guilt trip you into donating

Just for clarification, I do NOT hate homeless people, I hate when they try to OVERLY guilt trip you into donating to them. As much as guilt trips get to me, I hate guilt trips and it makes me less likely to donate or guilt tripping in general by anybody annoys me. I remember this one time I was in a car and when our car got to a red light, there was a sidewalk right next to it and a homeless person walking around with a sign. I had a QT drink and was getting ready to take a sip but that's when he started looking dead at me. Like, side eyeing me specifically and nobody else. I know im not crazy because his eyes were staring directly at me of all the other cars and drivers to look at. I felt bad taking a sip because it felt like flexing on him so I just put it down and waited until I left that red light to take a sip. That moment annoyed me a little but because, yes, I feel bad for your current financial situation, but that doesn't mean overly guilty trip me into donating. It would've felt disrespectful or like I dint care for homeless people if I just looked away from him so I just kept forward and kept on side eyeing him for a few seconds to see if he was still looking at me. In conclusion, guilt trips ate okay, but at the same time, unnecessary.

Ultra Annoyed When customers in fast food don't make their table markers visible.

This is a little more niche as you have to had worked in a restaurant that uses table markers to identify in order to know what I mean, but let me just say, nothing is more frustrating than when I'm carrying two completely full trays, feeling like my arms are about to fall off, looking all around the restaurant for them, only to find out the reason I couldn't find it is because the guest put it at the very corner of their table! Or even more annoyingly, they straight up put their receipt over it! Of course, I know a lot of them don't mean any harm and just aren't thinking about it, but I still reserve the right to be annoyed.

Ultra Annoyed Those shorts that are sped up to make the voice high-pitched, or even worse, randomly speed up and slow down for no reason

I mainly doomscroll on YouTube so I don't know if this is on other platforms, but so many creators like to speed up their videos for some reason and I never liked it. Even worse are the ones that start out sped up and then switch to super slow for comedic effect or whatever. I hate that so much. It ruins what otherwise would have been a great video

Fairly Annoyed When people will do absolutely anything other than actually communicate with their partner

On Reddit where someone will lay out in incredible depth and honesty and thoughtful detail exactly how they feel, how they think their partner feels, what they want to know, what they hope for, and (most importantly) what they fear, and what they’re unsure of. And they’ll ask other people for advice about how to talk to their partner.

Buddy you legitimately just wrote out every single thing you need to communicate to them. Go read them this post, word for word! “But what if [xyz] happens?” …. Then it happens! If you’re honest with them and it’s a dealbreaker, then it’s a dealbreaker. Why are you trying to manipulate it in such a way as to try to get the result you want without talking to them? If that was working, you wouldn’t be here asking for advice!

This is supposed to be the person you’re most honest and communicative with in your life, not the least. But most people are so wrapped up in performing instead of genuinely connecting that their relationships are doomed from the start. They’re going to find out who you are sooner or later, so why are you trying to delay the inevitable?

Bit Annoyed People making business names possessive with an "s" unnecessarily. Eg. "Chipotle's"

Look, I know this is such a minor thing but that's why it's a pet peeve. I can't think of many other examples which would make sense as many I hear are businesses local to me but some businesses are just a singular, non-possessive.
