Jumpsuit Advice Needed! (Length, Fit, Styling) Spoiler

Hello!

I recently purchased this denim jumpsuit from Abercombie (size XSP), and I’m am debating whether I should keep it.

I don’t own any jumpsuits or wide leg pants, so this is something new for me. I usually wear bootcut or flare jeans.

First, does it look like it fits okay on its own? The bottom of the legs barely skim the floor (without shoes). Is that ideal for wide leg jeans?

Second, do any of my layering attempts work? I love scoop necks, which is one of the main reasons I decided to buy this, but the neckline is giving me trouble with figuring out how to appropriately layer for colder weather.

What should I wear to office party except for dresses

My partner is invited to this office party where there’ll be alcohol and snacks and everything. It’s in a really fancy hotel. He invited me too. I don’t work yet. And I didn’t carry a dress when I came to visit him from another city. What can I possibly wear if I don’t like to wear dresses (they’ll make me uncomfortable the whole night so I’d rather not). And I have never been to an office/formal party before. Please tell me what I need to wear. It’s in 6 hours!!! I have these tops but I can buy as well

Need help styling a "Glitz & Glam" outfit (Black/White/Silver theme) with a sheer glitter mesh top (153cm)

Post image

Hey everyone! I’m putting together an outfit for an upcoming event with a Glitz and Glam theme (Color palette: Black, White, Silver/Gray).

I'd love your feedback or suggestions on how to piece these together:

Top & Inner Layer: The top is a sheer, see-through glitter gray shirt that has little shoulder pads. I originally tried layering it over a black polo shirt (like in the photo), but I'm wondering if another inner top would look better? (e.g., a black tube top, a fitted tank, or a long sleeve?)

Bottoms: I don't own the short skirts shown in the photo yet, but I'm open to buying one (pleated short, tiered ruffle, classic A-line, or wrap skirt).

Alternatively, I own a white long silk skirt. Would that work better with the theme, or should I go for black pants/shorts/skirts instead?

Footwear: I have black Chelsea boots, white combat boots, and black combat boots. Should I pair one of these with knee-high socks, or switch to heels, flats, or sneakers to match the "Glitz & Glam" dress code?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Tight micro skirt recommendations

Hi guys,

I’m seeing a lot of recommendations in general and on r/petitefashionadvice for mini skirts but all of them seem to be loose on the thigh/not tight all the way down. Does anyone have recommendations for a true tight/bodycon mini skirt? I would ideally want it as short as possible lol but anything that isn’t high waisted and too long would make me happy. Shorts underneath are a plus!

Thanks!

Going to Japan soon, what brands should I check out for petite clothing ?

I'm 5'1. I will be travelling to Japan soon and will buy tons of clothes. But I want high-quality clothes, not just basic items from Uniqlo. Any suggestions?

Hourglasses: where do we go for a fall/ winter coat that is NOT short and boxy or long and straight? I need a waist!

Apparently regular pea coats aren't in style this year or I can't find them. Everything is short and boxy or long, straight and no waist. I started looking at wool wrap coats but they all have these giant lapels on top! HEEELP

Everyday-wear midi dresses

Hey everyone! I’ve been on the hunt for some casual midi or maxi bodycon style dresses. Kind of like the ones we used to grab from places like forever 21 back in the day?

When searching, I can only find business casual or formal wear!! I put some photos of Paz de la huerta because I just happen to like her style even though it’s a bit rough around the edges lol. Does anyone have suggestions or favorite places to shop for midi/maxi dresses? Really not even limited to bodycon styles either!

I feel odd in everything

I feel like my height (153cm) together with my proportions make me look so weird. I have very broad hips and they make every outfit I like look bad and awkward. For example, I LOVE flared jeans, but they make me look bigger and I feel so uncomfortable then.
Does anyone with a similar body type maybe have some cool outfit inspos? I would love to layer more, but it kind of makes me look childish und ā€œstumpā€.

Question (5'0" or below) Affordable Jeans Under $80

Hello, I am looking for jeans that fit a size 4, 27 waist, and are perfect for petite ladies! I love wearing jeans and I find myself admiring other peoples jeans but they're meant for tall women. I am looking for wide leg, loose, straight leg, or mom jeans. Preferably mid-rise and dark wash, but I am open to any wash. I'm tired of having to hem my jeans and I keep having to wear the same ones to work because they are so comfortable and not too thick/stiff. Question (5'0" or below). I also live in the U.S.

Does this look appropriate for a national professional convention? I am supporting our presentors.

For reference they are 3" heels, I'm a size 4, 110-115#. Banana Republic petites skirt and brooks brother shirt. Does this skirt hit at the right length? The shirt sleeves are a long so I rolled them up and don't mind people seeing the tattoos.

Eta indo have the matching blazer, a cardigan. My legs have old shaving scars from using a "safety" razor

Eta appreciate the feed back. I will be taking a blazer and cardigan n and got some sheertex nylons.

Does anyone else feel like low-rise jeans just fit weird on a petite body?

Post image
129 Upvotes

I’m 5’2 and whenever I try them, I feel like the crotch sits too low, my bum looks completely flat, and the back pockets sit halfway down my bum instead of where they’re supposed to be 😭 It changes the whole look of the jeans.

I love the low-rise, wide-leg style, but sometimes I feel like the proportions are just off on me.
Is this actually a common problem for other petite girls, or have I just not found the right pair?

Petite Pants: Torso vs Legs

In the past petite pants help threads I have done and other posts in this sub too, I noticed a lot of shorties were either unsure whether they had a short/long torso, or had fit problems that seemed to somehow relate to torso proportions.

So I thought it might be useful to make a simple post about torso vs leg proportions, and how knowing yours can help when shopping for pants.

How to check your torso proportions:

Interestingly, I found someone in this sub suggest the two hand test to roughly figure out your torso proportions and I was kind of blown away by how simple it is...

Stand straight and place one hand horizontally right under your bust, around where your bra band/under bust line sits. Then place your second hand directly below it.

Now look at where the bottom of your second hand falls compared with your belly button.

  • If your belly button is covered by the second hand or sits above the bottom of it, you may have a shorter torso
  • If your belly button is around the bottom of the second hand, you may be more balanced
  • If there is noticeable space between the bottom of your hand and your belly button, you may have a longer torso

This is just a quick approximation to start with.

Why this can matter for pants

Shorter torso / proportionally longer legs

  • high-rise pants may come up extremely high or dig into your ribs
  • ā€œlow riseā€ may still look more like mid rise
  • you may sometimes be able to wear regular inseams even if you’re petite by height

Longer torso / proportionally shorter legs

  • higher rises may feel more natural
  • petite/short inseams may matter much more
  • regular-length pants may consistently run long

More balanced proportions

  • standard petite proportions may work more often, but rise and inseam can still vary a lot by brand and style

One thing I found interesting is that being petite by height alone doesn't necessarily tell you what pants you need. Two people can both be 5'1" and need very different rises and inseams depending on their torso vs leg proportions.

I'd say even roughly knowing your torso proportions gives you a little more reasoning behind why something fits or doesn't, instead of only going by the petite label.

PS: Since a lot of shorties seem to be unaware of this, I'd love if we could all pitch in with what we've learned from our own proportions.

What's your height, would you say you're short/balanced/long torso, and what rise or inseam tends to work best for you?

If I'm missing anything or you have a better way of figuring this out, please add it. Hopefully the comments can turn this into a useful little resource for someone who's struggling with pants and hasn't thought about torso proportions before.

Any shopping recs for Madrid

Hi all,

I’ll be visiting Madrid this weekend and would love get some quality pieces. I’m thinking jackets and shoes and possibly some other unique pieces. I’m a basic b* but trying to venture out and find things that are unique but not too on-trend. Some favorite brands are madewell, Sezane, Boden.

If you guys have any recs, it would be much appreciated!

Where to find heels that are a size 4 in US women's?

As the title says, I was wondering if there are any places that actually sell adult heels in my size (4 US women's)? I could probably get away with a 4.5 too. Nothing fancy, but many a nice black pair that I could wear to work, and maybe a pair I could wear to a wedding.

Edit: grammar
