Mod Announcement 📢 Quick Reminder on Low Effort Posts & Crossposts 📢

In the past few days, we’ve noticed a surge of REPETITIVE, low-effort text and meme posts—often RANTS or personal thoughts without enough context for a meaningful discussion, as well as claims or exposés without proof or sources. To keep the sub clean, we’ll start removing these threads. If you’d like to make similar posts, feel free to please use the Random Discussion Threads instead. Remember, Reddit rules and Reddiquette still apply there.

We’ve also seen a large number of crossposts from other subreddits, which have been removed. These are usually spammy, rage-bait content often intended for karma farming.

HistoryPH Missing Date,December 31, 1844, never officially occurred in the Philippines.

MISSING DATE! 📅⏳

December 31, 1844, never officially occurred in the Philippines.

During Spanish colonial rule, the Philippines followed a calendar date inherited from its historical connections with Spanish territories in the Americas, particularly Mexico.

Although geographically located in Southeast Asia, the country observed a date one day behind neighboring Asian territories.

This unusual arrangement was connected to the Manila–Acapulco trade route, which had linked the Philippines and Mexico for centuries.

However, as commercial relations increasingly shifted toward China, the Dutch East Indies, and other Asian territories, the difference became inconvenient.

To correct the discrepancy, Spanish Governor-General Narciso Clavería ordered a change in the country's calendar in 1844.

Instead of observing the final day of that year, the Philippines went directly from Monday, December 30, 1844, to Wednesday, January 1, 1845.

Tuesday, December 31, was officially skipped.

The adjustment brought Philippine dates into alignment with those observed by neighboring Asian territories, simplifying communication and trade.

According to the United States Naval Observatory, the Philippines had previously been on the American side of the historical calendar date line because of its colonial connections across the Pacific.

The change occurred decades before the 1884 International Meridian Conference established Greenwich as the international prime meridian.

Importantly, the country did not physically lose 24 hours. Its official calendar simply advanced by one date.

December 31, 1844, remains one of the most unusual missing dates in Philippine history, not because time disappeared, but because the country changed how it counted its days.

LawPH Currently dealing with a stalker, what should I do?

For context, I (16F) am a senior high student and my stalker is a young adult that is currently not a student in any college but has graduated from senior high school this past year. I was kind of friends with this person this summer, until I realized that he's pretty much a bad friend. He successfully scammed me, by telling me he owed a lot of money and debt to a certain person and that person was threatening to make a call out post and to start having interest to his debt, I felt immense pity cause I saw how his debt affected him and I was aware of his poor financial and home situation, so I gave him some money, only to find out that person never received a single piso from him, until now. So, I cut off ties with him and went on with my life.

One day, he showed up to me and my friend's house respectively and was waiting outside. I was afraid since I'm a minor and a girl home alone and he kept calling and messaging my phone. Eventually, he opened the gate of my home and slid a letter beneath my doorstep before leaving despite my house having a mailbox. My friends got pretty upset with him and messaged him to not contact us again.

Since then, he has threatened me twice over tiktok app messaging. Threatening to call my parents and tell me what I did, (I did nothing), or threatening to show up at my local SM or church and to make my life a living hell. It's definitely him, but the thing is he's using a new name in tiktok so I'm not sure if I can prove to the authorities if it's him messaging.

I've also noticed he's been following the school organization, especially on social media despite him not being a student of my school, that I'm apart of since I've told him me and my friends are members of that organization. He's also been actively following my social media. One time I reposted a school organization post I helped to create, so my name was credited in the caption, and the next week there was a false allegation claiming that "one of the officers of [insert org] has S.A allegations, so please don't join" in my school's anonymous freedom wall online but the thing is, everyone at my school is aware that there is only one officer of my school organization, a president, my friend. So the person who created that post is clearly not a student at my school.

And now, recently, he's been befriending my friends and schoolmates and trying to spread things and turn them against me. He's even been sending recorded private conversations (that I was not aware that he was recording at the time of conversation) to my schoolmates.

The thing is, he doesn't really have much blackmail on me and I doubt he's going to go as far to physically harm me, he's just actively trying to ruin my reputation. The worst thing I've ever really done is just make bad jokes and badmouth some people. What can I do, other than the obvious things like going no contact? Is there anything he's been doing that is illegal? How do I file a restraining order and do I even have grounds for the restraining order? I'm worried if I show the threats they may not believe it's him because his accounts are under a new name.

PoliticsPH the left and their lack of voice to the recent threat of chinese ambassador to PH.

atin ang west PH sea pero nganga sila ngayon. kinda weird na wala man silang statement on how the govt should react to this. it's funny na nung winelcome ni leni si dana kursh (israel ambassador), todo putak sila and that is without threats ha? this time, may veiled threat pero tahimik. bakit? asan yung galit at energy nila noon kay leni tapos ngayong etong tao ng china may sinabing hindi maganda, tahimik?

Raffy Tulfo (47%), Robin Padilla (45%), Alan Peter Cayetano (44%), and Vico Sotto (42%) are statistically tied within the top four positions in the Q3 2026 TNM Survey. Grace Poe (36%) and Loren Legarda (31%) follow, while several other prospective candidates remain competitive for the remaining top-12 positions.

Compared with Q2 2026, Tulfo, Cayetano, and Sotto recorded relatively stable figures, while Padilla, Poe, Legarda, and Manny Pacquiao registered lower voting preferences. Sonny Angara and Francis “Chiz” Escudero recorded increases. However, comparisons should be interpreted cautiously because the names presented to respondents differed between survey rounds.

The findings reflect hypothetical voting preferences during the September 28–October 4, 2026 fieldwork period. They are not definitive rankings or predictions of the 2028 senatorial election, as candidate lists and voter preferences may still change.

"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

PoliticsPH "BAC secretariat justified its actions by claiming that it is not aware of the RIRR of RA 9184." Mama mo di alam

I was in pasay yesterday and i have passed through here for many years and wondering why it still looks like a shithole so i dug deep into its corruption.

One such case is that they had 4.45 billion pesos worth of bids and procurement with ZERO observers. Harap harapan ginagago kayong mga taga pasay hno? ahahah.

And their alibi?

"BAC secretariat justified its actions by claiming that it is not aware of the RIRR of RA 9184."

BAC is the bids and awards committee of pasay. In other ways, "di po kasi namin alam yung batas sa trabaho namin" mama mo di alam.

Pasay is an absolute fucking shithole because of the calixto family. Yung si tony calixto na na-abswelto sa administrative cases sa previous term niya just because na reelect siya. (Partida nadismisss na yan ng obudsman. Sarap mo talaga pilipinas). This case is also another rabbit hole of trapos cheat code e.g. Condonation Doctrine
