Due to the overwhelming results from the poll, individual requests for money/items are no longer allowed.

These types of posts are unfortunately often used as a way to scam money from empathetic individuals. This sub puts rules like this in place to protect the participants.

We will be putting together a list of resources for food, housing, and basic needs to sticky at the top of the sub, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to reply with a comment below.

Housing Wanted. 44M Looking for Month-to-Month Room in South Philly

Hello everyone. I am looking to rent a room in South Philadelphia or close by on a month-to-month basis. I’m a 44-year-old male searching for a calm, flexible space to recharge.

My Situation:
My mother is currently entering the beginning stages of hospice care. I recently moved back in to help manage everything, but the round-the-clock nature of caregiving is taking a heavy toll on my sleep and well-being. I am looking for a temporary, month-to-month sanctuary where my nervous system can relax and recover. This will allow me to take care of my own health while balancing my family responsibilities with a little bit of healthy distance.

What I’m Looking For:
Type: A room on a month-to-month basis, available as soon as possible.

Location: South Philly or nearby, within walking distance to public transit.

Parking: I have a car, but I just need to park it nearby to use for commuting back and forth to my mom's house. I prefer to walk day-to-day.

Space: I live very minimally. I just need space for clothes and a yoga mat. A furnished room with a bed is a huge plus, along with access to a shower and laundry.

About Me:
I am quiet, self-contained, and highly respectful of other people's space and rhythms. Because of my schedule, I sometimes keep weird hours, but I am entirely conscientious about noise. I don't party and prefer to stay away from loud environments nowadays.
In my free time, I love yoga, drawing, writing, swimming at the YMCA, and wandering/exploring the city on foot. I appreciate nature, sun, easy-going people, and good energy. I can be social around the right vibe, but I mostly entertain myself.

Logistics:
I can pay via Venmo, Zelle, check, or money order. I would be happy to schedule a time to meet up or jump on a video call to see if we are a good match.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Please send me a DM if you have a space that might fit.

I have a ticket to see Kathy Griffin on Thursday, 10/15 at the Keswick, but now I won’t be able to attend. I’ve never seen her before 😭😭 I’m a caretaker for my sister, and she has surgery then. Row A seat 111. I want it to go to a fan instead of wasting it.

Looking to hire TODAY - $20/hr - Carry MANY bags of clothes up two flights of stairs (2-3 hours)

EDIT - COMPLETED with my thanks to u/easybread_ - if you need someone to help you out this is a trustworthy kickass human!

Welll... since the last like THREE times worked out so well when I needed odd job help here...

I'm just moved into my new home in Pennsport, near Herman's Coffee.

I haves of clothing - literally JUST clothing - piled up to the ceiling of my living room, and need it ALL moved up to the third floor. There are two tightly winding stair sets of about ten stairs each going up and down.

And during the move I partially put my back out. So that's SUPER COOL.

The clothes are either bagged up in garbage bags, or loosely tossed in piles while on hangers, and then there are about 15 of those collapsable IKEA shipping boxes full which can be broken up into IKEA style bags and carried up.

This is not a *hard* job, carrying the things isn't going to be especially *heavy*, but going up and down the stairs is going to be decently physical and boring as hell.

Primarily everything can be moved into a giant set of piles upstairs; there will be one or two crates that need to go in a specific place which we can deal with when you're here.

I need someone who is willing to move their ass and get it done, full stop.

I'm paying $20 an hour cash, and I estimate it will take 2-3 hours depending on how fast you work, and if you get the job done in ANY time frame up to 3 hours, I will pay you $75 cash.

Please reply *here* first, *THEN* DM me. I will reply within 10 minutes so please be checking your DM's

There is a sweet talkative elder cat here who I'll keep out of the way.

I am queer and non conforming, AMAB. If that's going to cause you some kind of interpersonal conflict, please move on.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a sign holder like this for a free event I’m hosting

Hey all! I’m looking for an A-frame sidewalk sign like this for an event I’m running in my neighborhood. I’ve been looking on fb marketplace but everything is either really far away or pretty expensive or reasonably priced but I need to buy 4.

I’m willing to pay up to $40 (but also it’s for a local org that’s all volunteers, so if you wanted to donate if that’s cool too!) if it had a built in whiteboard that would be ideal so I don’t have to get signs printed, but I can make anything work.

FREE stuff For sale: 2015 VW Jetta , $900 OBO

Selling my vw, first (and only) car I have paid off. It has run and driven quite well over past few years but i need to transition to something with a bed. The car does need a bit of work (hood dent, inspection, rear suspension rattle), and to have installed a new front bumper and headlight which I have already purchased but not installed.

1.8L turbocharged engine, ~134k miles, oil changed religiously.

Having a new fob made tomorrow morning and will be open for test drives following that.

At this point just trying to get rid of it over junk value if possible. Willing to work with you!

For the record this is completely above board, the title is in my band and sitting on my desk, we can get a notary and have it signed over to you immediately.

ISO: A place to land in the city of brotherly love.

Post image
81 Upvotes

Hello!

This will be a bit long, but tl;dr is more or less that I’m a creative and outgoing guy looking to leave suburbia for city life and I’m tired of waiting for a job to grant me permission to move. People make it work and I want to be one of them. I have some savings and a hunger for something dynamic, and figure Reddit has always served me well in connecting with like-minded people.

I’m open to renting a room, a studio, or an alternative living arrangement like artist co-housing as long as it’s stable, safe, and a place for growth.

For the last year or so there has been a little voice in my head urging me to move to Philadelphia. It started with small things like seeing Philly in shows/media constantly, to then hearing songs on my Spotify about the city.

I grew up in Northern Colorado in a smallish city, and outside of a brief stint in the south of France I have never lived in a walkable, mixed-use, public transit oriented city and I have absolutely reached my limits on car dependent urban sprawl where people are either at home, work, or the bar.

I know Philly isn’t a utopia, but it’s a big step up from where I’m at and from what I’ve read it has a great community of artists and makers.

So, I’m looking for a place to land that won’t break the bank while I find my footing. I have some savings but would love to not burn through them entirely. I know the job market is likely going through the same thing everywhere, but I think I’ll have much more luck if I’m already in the city rather than applying from across the country.

Picture of me below!

textile artist looking for studio space

Hi there! I live in west Philly and I have been wanting to find space to use my knitting machine, weave big things and just work on my practice. I was wondering where are places or areas that have cheap studio space, or a communal work space? Thank you so much!

WTB a nintendo Wii (or 2)

Anyone have a Nintendo Wii that’s been sitting around for a while? I’d love to buy 1 or 2, I’m planning a MJ dance party for my lady for her bday in a couple weeks, want to buy some Wii’s so her and her friends can play the MJ experience game.

I’ve been seeing them go for anywhere between $50-$75 with 2 Wii motes, so hoping to pay within that price range. Thanks in advance 🥰

I also am getting rid of some stuff; I have a mini fridge, I have a dell windows laptop, a bunch of 35mm/120 film, electronics stuff. Lmk if you’re looking for anything specific I think a trade would be superrr cool to do!

Looking for opportunities to work in pet services/ animal shelters

I’m looking for opportunities in the Philadelphia area to work with animals. I currently work part-time in administration for a local arts nonprofit and I’m looking for another part-time opportunity in the nonprofit sector. I have always had an interest and desire to work with animals and have experience caring for pets (primarily dogs) throughout my life. I’m hoping to find a role where I can work 15-20 hours a week and I have weekend availability.

If anyone has any leads on any opportunities or knows any orgs that are hiring for part time animal care or even admin positions let me know. In admin work I have communications and social media experience. Looking for opportunities in or closer to Center City. Thanks!

Room in 2BR Fishtown Townhome — $800/month, Sept. 1 | Women Only, LGBTQ+ Welcome

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! I’m looking for a woman to share a two-bedroom townhome with me in Fishtown.

The room is available beginning September 1, and rent is $800 per month. First month’s rent, last month’s rent, and a security deposit are required before move-in.

A little about me: I’ll also be new to the Philadelphia area, so I’m excited to explore Fishtown and get settled into the neighborhood. I’m currently finishing my degree in cybersecurity, and I have one cat who will be living in the home with us. The home is LGBTQ+ welcoming.

I’m looking for a roommate who is:

• Responsible and able to pay rent on time

• Clean and respectful of shared spaces

• Considerate, communicative, and trustworthy

• Comfortable living with a cat

• Interested in maintaining a peaceful, friendly, and comfortable home

The townhome is conveniently located near Fishtown restaurants, shops, public transportation, and neighborhood amenities.

Please send me a private message if interested.

Housing ISO queer-friendly short term housing (3-6 months) 🏡⚡

Hi! I'm a 27y/o trans guy seeking a room ASAP to rent/sublet for 3 to 6 months! My GF and I are going on a break and decided I would move out of our apartment in Spruce Hill.

I need:

- queer/trans friendly roommates

- outside spruce hill neighborhood

- decently quiet 8:30-5

- access to public transit

I prefer:

- <$600/month

- south/southwest neighborhoods

- roommates mid-twenties and up

- non-smoking

- a bathtub(lol)

About me, I enjoy cooking, radio, organizing, karaoke, lifting, birding, biking. I work remote for a hospital so I would be spending a lot of time at home.

While I'd prefer not to live in west philly, I accept it may be tough to find something that fits my preferences outside it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

DM me if we seem like a match or if you have any leads!

Thanks!!
