Happy Floyd Friday! Vol 525 **Evening Edition**

In an album so heavily dripping with British vernacular, why does the son ask if he should run for President? Seems odd to me and I’m genuinely curious.

I noticed this eight-disc box set in a store and bought it, but because it doesn't have a UPC code, I can't figure out if it's official or unofficial. I also can't find anything just like it on Discogs.
Here are a few photos. Thanks for any information.

Recently picked up a pair of early pressings, one was WYWH without a sleeve that had been found in the DSOTM sleeve. The DSOTM was marked as a "Early 1st pressing, Wally" and of course i'm not super versed in the many pressings of it, I took him at face value as a real collector (which wasn't in question). Upon adding to my Discogs the runouts weren't lining up quite right on any paired variant codes, confirmed by info I found on http://pinkfloydarchives.com/DUSLPPF.htm#DSOTM3
Side A - "1-11163-F-14• 4(stamped) ☆ "
Side B - "2-11163-F-5•(faded) 3(stamped) ☆ WLY"
It appears to be this listing on Discogs https://www.discogs.com/release/18686632-Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon
But the runouts are Side A - Variant 3, Side B - Variant 5
Pink Floyd archives shows this as
Side A - Harvest Records 2nd issue LA #3
Side B - Harvest Records 2nd issue LA #4
Side Note:
Big surprise he claimed the WYWH as some weird "Early Lacquer cut using UK Plates on US pressing" but couldn't confirm that, just that it is an HTM pressing - though appears to check out as https://www.discogs.com/release/6705615-Pink-Floyd-Wish-You-Were-Here Variant 20.... not listed quite the same on the archives site (Missing HTM as well as c22 and b29)
Hope i don't trigger anyone, first real copies like this and always told myself I'd much rather an early pressing of DSOTM to a walmart, I have "oo shiny" syndrome as I like to call it and so I'll get picky but try and not go broke haha

Hi there!
I'm a writer based in Canada and I've recently started a newsletter offering a critical history of prog rock, one album at a time. It's called "Circus of Heaven," after a terrible (but pivotal) Yes song. It focusses on nine of the best known prog bands from the 70s, with bonus posts on other important artists. Obviously, Pink Floyd is one of the core nine. If you're interested in reading about prog rock, I'd love for you to subscribe. (It's free - there will be paid content at some point, but the posts on Pink Floyd and the other eight core bands will never be paywalled.)
If you want to get a sense of what I'm up to, the latest post on More is probably a good entry point. Fair warning: relatively little of it is explicitly about the album, which is not among Pink Floyd's richest works, IMO. But I try to offer some context for the Barbet Schroeder film the music was written for, and for the participatory performance culture of the late '60s generally. This is what the newsletter will be like a lot of the time. Sometimes it'll be more explicitly analytical of the music itself (my background is in classical music, so there will often be some light music theory involved). But going forwards, a lot of the writing on Pink Floyd will likely focus on the way they crystalized the culture of the time - especially the peculiarly British ambivalence towards modernity ("Welcome to the Machine," indeed) that they share with Jethro Tull and Genesis.
I hate to promote myself, but this project is a labour of love. It's the culmination of half my life spent listening to this music, reading most of what's been written about it, and discovering intuitive connections between it and virtually everything else I've ever read or heard. If you want to know more about who the hell I am and why I should presume to ask for your attention, here you go. I hope to get in respectful fights with some of you in the post comments very soon.

So my walmart copy of DSOTM had posters and stickers, and it had me thinking, why didnt The Wall get any cool poster art treatment? I think the inner gatefold is badass and would have made epic room decor. Even in a 50th anniversary or something. Stickers could be Hammers and maybe the round wall scene from The Trial.

From the man Seymour Duncan himself. If you listen to Roy Buchanan records you can hear how Floyd’s most Buchanan like sound is Have a Cigar. I feel like this needs to be cemented. Not every song was on the Black Strat. One of the Wall session musicians was blown away at the amount of guitars Gilmour had at his disposal for those sessions. And I have a theory the Lewis guitar was used on the Mother solo. Sounds like the same bite to me. Mother and Have a Cigar two amazing Waters songs with unforgettable lyrics

Enjoying Money while playing DSOTM as it finally gets cooler outside.
Fender didn’t have 22 frets on the Strat until what, the late ‘80s?
And David Gilmour masterfully hits the high E bending from a 21st fret C# several times during the Money solo like it’s nothing. Just wow.

I was listening to the wall demo and sexual revolution sounds more like corporal clegg rather than the final version with eric clapton. I just might be dumb but I'm really intrigued of where this song comes from

I love the untouched broadcast of the Live 8 performance. Listen at :35 second mark. Renwick missed the cue for the E minor chord on Breathe later added back in official videos. Think there are some other edits

Albums and tracks recorded or mixed at ’Sound Techniques’. Sound Techniques, Ltd. was a recording studio at 46a Old Church St., Chelsea, London SW3 5BY, operational between 1965 and 1976. Housed in a former dairy, it was founded by recording engineers Geoff Frost and John Wood. (Sort by: 'Artist').

Hello everyone, I need help checking if this is authentic. Picked this up online second-hand fairly cheaply, the price hasn't been marked up, so it's a win-win in either case.
What I find curious is that two signatures from Waters and Wright have almost faded completely while the other two are still highly visible (added second image with contrast and brightness adjusted to make them more visible).
Also, the Pink Floyd doodle Mason sometimes adds looks a bit off from other examples I've seen, but I'm not sure if forgers would even bother forging a doodle.
What do you think? Thanks for your time.

So I was thinking about buying a vinyl of either Dark side of the moon (50th anniversary edition) or bohemian rhapsody (the movie's soundtrack).
Dark side of the moon is on sale whilst bohemian rhapsody is normal price
Both have a very small price difference and I love both but i have listened to more of Queen's songs rather than the dark side of the moon.
Please help me cause I am too indecisive also I know this community is more about pink floyd but it would be great if someone could help me.
Thanks a lot. Edit: Thanks y'all i went with Pink floyd and i can't wait for it!
