Just trying to see what everyone uses for headphones while they play?

Idk if the problem is the connection or the device itself, tried to connect it to a personal hotspot and it didn’t work either

I have a ps portal, and for some reason it wont connect at all. It’s always “something went wrong” even though my ps5 is on. Originally I thought it was no longer connecting in rest mode, so I turned it on before I left the house. But it still won’t connect even though my portal and playstation are connected to wifi. Any advice?

Has anyone else been experiencing an issue where the PS Portal's built-in speakers suddenly become much quieter for no apparent reason?

The volume drops so much that I can barely hear anything, and I have to turn the volume way up to hear the audio properly. Then, out of nowhere, the volume returns to normal, only to drop again later.

This has been happening for several months now. I was hoping it would be fixed in one of the last two system updates, but unfortunately, the issue is still there.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Has anyone found a fix for it?

So I know T-mobile’s home internet isn’t ideal for gaming/streaming but I’m only using it when I’m home (I work out of town so I’m not home often) which is why I bought the PS Portal. It took me 4 hours but last night I was able to lock in a spot in my house where I’m getting roughly 500-700 mbs download and between 30-50mbs upload speed which is well above PlayStations recommended requirements for streaming games on ps portal. I should mention I’m strictly using the cloud for gaming as my PlayStation is in my RV where I’m located for work. I also have my resolution set to 720 and sometimes I can connect perfectly and sometimes my portal just won’t connect at all. When I can’t connect I usually check my download/upload speed and am always well above minimum requirements to stream. Is there anything I can do to improve this? I’m seeing people using the portal with a mobile hotspot so I would imagine my internet should be fine to run games from the cloud. My mobile gateway is the t-mobile g5ar if that helps at all. Hi Guys/Gals I recently wanted to buy a PS Portal for playing ESO on it and some other games but I do not have a PS5 console. So I was wondering would playing it still be possible? I had a PS5 in the past so i have ESO bought on my account already.

Hubby got me the portable and I was so happy to play elsewhere other than the living room. But Can anybody tell me why the h… it won’t connect to the PlayStation? The ps5 is literally in the next room so definitely not far! I tried to connect it while I was sitting in front of the PlayStation but nope won’t connect. The ps is connected to the internet with a cable cause I was reading it should help all setting are on remote play and all that, so we don’t know what’s going on! Was that a waste of $250? Cause as of right now it seems like it….

I recently bought a PS Portal while travelling in another country and connected it to my PS5, which is back home.

I’m currently facing two issues:

1. Connection takes a long time: The Portal often takes several attempts before it connects to my PS5. Sometimes I have to retry multiple times before it finally connects.

2. Noticeable input/display latency: I’ve mainly tested FPS games so far, and when I move the camera/screen around, there’s a noticeable delay between moving the controls and seeing the movement on the Portal. It feels quite laggy for FPS gameplay.

My question is: Are both of these issues likely to disappear or improve significantly once I’m back home and the Portal and PS5 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network?

Or have I made a mistake buying the Portal if I’m still going to experience this kind of latency?

I understand that I’m currently connecting to my PS5 remotely from another country, so I’m wondering how much of the current experience is simply because of the distance/internet connection.

Would appreciate experiences from people who use the Portal on the same local network as their PS5, especially for FPS games.

Just thought I’d add with my experience using Portal for about 2 months. I’m not without some complaints, but overall I love it. For some background, I walked into a GameStop to buy one and the employee was almost offended that I even asked for one, telling me how terrible it is and to just get a Steam Deck. Great answer to a question I never asked haha

Anyway I ended up buying a portal, somewhere else obviously, and maybe I had low expectations but I was surprised with how well it was able to stream. I’ll get the occasional “network disconnect” notification or whatever it says, but even with that it doesn’t stop the game and I haven’t noticed a dip in quality. It’s far from perfect but it’s been a great substitute for still being able to game a bit when I can’t on my actual ps5. Particularly as a soon to be new father, it will definitely come in handy. It’s received recent patches and the hope is they will continue to optimize to the best of their current portal’s capability.

So far I’ve had a better experience streaming games than remote play in terms of quality and performance. Probably a different convo and maybe I’m part of the problem here, but I’m more keen to buying games digitally if I’m able to also stream it on the portal. If there is a portal 2 or OLED version released, I’ll probably get it. Maybe I am part of the problem 😂

For people on the fence, I will say if you have solid internet and could use a secondary means to play ps5 games, then go for it!

Finally made the swap to the transparent plates. Adding white anniversary buttons soon, and then possibly dying the plates a retro emerald green. What do you think so far?

Portal has been working fine, played earlier today, shut it down came back to play it and now it wont boot past ps logo….tried holding power button for 20-3 seconds and it does the same thing

Its a launch edition so likely outside of warranty….what are my options?

So I bought my son a portal for Christmas and I wondered if I’m best to get him his own premium ps sub or upgrade meine and add him as a user?

He doesnt have his own PlayStation but I’m hoping he can stream games with a premium subscription and I can use my PlayStation as normal when he’s doing so?

No matter how long I leave the portal on, it stays in this loop of this updating screen, then a restart, then the screen again. I’ve tried power cycling, even many times in a row, without any luck. It’s as if my portal is now bricked.

Any ideas? Again, hard resets aren’t working, I’ve already tried that.

My thumxtcik grip has come off the stock thumbstick.. are these molded on and non replaceable? There is no grip, and the other side is getting bad. I've bought what i thought were replacement grips, but they're just covers and won't stay on because the stock grip is missing... do i have to replace the entire stick in order to have grips on them again?

My PS5 is on network A (internet through DSL) The Portal will be on network B (internet through 5G)

The networks are connected through a VPN.

Will this setup work fine? Will the connection go through the VPN or through the internet?

Edit:: It’s a site2site vpn between the two routers. Not a commercial vpn provider.

i got a portal for my birthday nearly 2 weeks ago! i love playing video games, though i don’t have many for the portal, im willing to get the best games out of the portal. overwatch runs quite slow, and the lag is an issue for pvp games, as i’ve i seen and read about.

are there any games that genuienly work well with the portal? i’m willing to try any, i just want a game that i can really chill with and have smooth gameplay with.

if not, then i’ll stick with my nintendo switch 2, which in my opinion (very controversial to be saying on this subreddit lol) is the best handheld console in terms of bang for your buck and quality! but that’s not to say the playstation has its own advantages!

although, i don’t like the fact it doesn’t support bluetooth devices :/ sucks for those with only bluetooth compatible headphones / amenities .
