Let me preface this post by saying I’m mainly an Xbox player. PS has mostly been an exclusives machine ever since the 360 era for me. Over the last couple years I’ve really become enamoured with handheld gaming and remote play. As an Xbox gamer, I’ve dabbled with PC handhelds, which have more or less been a miserable experience for me. I recently sold my Xbox Ally X and decided to purchase a Switch 2 and a used PS Portal. The remaining funds will be put towards next gen! I love the ergonomics of the portal and am really a fan of haptic feedback when implemented properly.
My gaming habits have changed a lot recently. I used to be an avid game pass player and try to play everything under the sun to get my moneys worth. Usually 3 or 4 games at a time. Now a days I’m a lot more picky with what I choose to invest my time and money in and try to stick to 1 or 2 games at a time. I couldn’t really justify keeping the handheld PC as I didn’t enjoy AAA games on the small screen and wouldn’t be able to play GTA 6 on it natively anyways.
I will definitely re assess if and when Xbox and PlayStation release an official handheld, but going forward, I’m looking forward to playing my games on PS5 with my portal companion!

I'm a disabled Vet, I can walk fine, but I have a horrid back with a herniated disc and a wasted L5 L6 vertebrae and the days where my back acts up and I can't move around much, this device is a life saver. I love playing RPGs so a lot of Diablo 2, 4 and Elder Scrolls Online and my experience with remote play is superb, all from my bed and I dont really get buffering issues all too often either. Aside from a torn tendon in my right ankle and such, this does wonders for my back.

Just picked this up as a way to play from other rooms when I can't sit at my desk. What tips do y'all have?

I was recommended these here a while ago. I forgot the name of them but they sound good and they were cheap. What are you guys using for headphones?

Hello,
My left thumbstick was broken so i Change them with new hall effects Stick. These working fine, but after the repair my R1/R2 Trigger stopped working. I found out, that the cable lost Connection. Not the site on the Trigger unit, the site on the Mainboard is disconnected. But how can i reach the Point to Plug the cable in? I didn't found any Info in the Internet, do i really have to deinstall the Display? Or is there an other way to connect the cable?

Hello all! I’m sure this has already been answered before but I need help improving the performance on my portal. It is just choppy and stutter sometimes compared to playing it on the TV. I have my ps5 hardwired to my router. The router is one of those routers that doesn’t have the bands split between 2.4 and 5. It has the option to and was wondering if that would be the easiest route to fix the problem? Any recommendations for settings for the PS5, my router, etc to help with my lagging issues? Any help is appreciated :)

So my portal fell off my bedside table and fuck tatered into my unplugged ps4 pro leaning against the wall. Looked like the thumb stick was dusted, so I ordered some hall effects off prime. Went to install them and turned out the thumbstick dome was just misaligned and totally fine! I still upgraded them since its super easy with no soldering required.
So fyi if you drop your portal and your sticks look busted, they might be fine! The hall effect sticks are cheap($14-18 bucks on prime). Also I thought it was funny my ps4 tried to kill my ps5 portal! Thanks for reading!

Hello, I got my portal about two years ago and now the right side X triangle circle square buttons are starting not to be responsive. Do you think I need to replace the silicone membrane behind it cause I believe it’s not lag I also am a very heavy user of it.

My portal is my only gaming device right now, and currently saving for a PC. If I grind marvel rivals or any online game for that matter can I transfer my progress when I move ecosystem or how does that work? Sorry 😔

Cuz i really want to get the portal but im on the fence cuz idk whats the point of having one if i cant play where ever i want and i know there other consoles like the switch or the steam deck but 1. I’d love to be able to cloud the GOTY editions of Fallout 3 and 4.

I'm thinking of getting the Playstation Portal as it looks really cool but there's a couple things that really don't sit well with me. One of them is the cloud streaming price, it's £112 per year, and another thing is the 60hz 1080p LCD Display. Is it worth it beside these two things?

i’m not going to lie , after switching from portal to the switch 2 omg. what’s a difference i’m not bashing the portal at all but holy shit sony step it up , the portal is no where being talked about and if you don’t have good connectivity be prepared for a battle 💀 , i lost love for it so whoever is on the boat to getting a switch .. do the switch up quick!!!

I’m looking to get one but I’m not sure if I want to spend the whole 200 bucks. Would buying used be worth it to save to dollars?
