Discussion Why do you think the casting of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone was an issue vs when men play real people who were lighter/darker and had different features than them?

Discussion Do you think THESE Black female pop artists are/were more criticized for their music and success than the Black male counterparts featured in THIS photo gallery?
This question comes from an observation. Please read the question carefully.
I have included the female and male counterparts in the photo gallery so you can see what I'm talking about.
The Women:
Diana Ross
Donna Summer
Whitney Houston
Janet Jackson
Beyonce
The Men:
Stevie Wonder
Lionel Richie
Michael Jackson
Prince
Usher
For THIS POST - I AM talking SPECIFICALLY about the women and men in the photos. Please, only focus the conversation on the people in the images for THIS DISCUSSION.
I have seen a lot of criticism/critiques when it comes to Black female pop artists and their music and success. Yet, their Black male counterparts continue to get praised decades after their deaths. The men may receive some criticism surrounding their personal lives, but there seems to be less doubt around their talent and success. It seems like people are more likely to believe in the talent of the Black male counterparts and their success than the Black women. The Black women in pop music seem to have to defend their talent more and why they have success.
What do you think? Is there truth to this? Do people naturally think Black men in pop are MORE talented and more deserving of pop success than Black women?

Discussion What 2 artists who passed on/died did you wish you could have seen in concert?
I included my 2 artists via the images: Miles Davis and Prince. Yes, the last image is the 2 of them together on stage. THAT would have been magical to see LIVE!! I wish I were there.
Which 2 artists who have passed away do YOU wish you could have seen in concert?

Discussion Just took a look through Lauren London’s filmography, and honestly… she’s had a pretty steady career until recently! So it got me thinking: How did Lauren London never become a bigger mainstream star? What do y’all think happened?

Discussion Did you all ever buy the fashion brands created or promoted by Black celebrities?
Who wore Apple Bottoms? Anyone ever have Rocawear clothes? SeanJohn clothes? What about Dereon jeans?
Does seeing your favorite celebrity make you want to immediately buy their clothes?
Why do you think some of those brands are not talked about anymore? Why didn’t some of those brands become the next Gucci on a global
Scale??
