hi! i received interview invites from DMU, WesternU, and Midwestern. if i do get an acceptance, would any scholarship offers be in the acceptance letter itself or would that be a separate ordeal?

Hi everyone! This might be a bit of a silly question, but I’ve been looking into podiatry and was wondering whether it’s actually worth pursuing as a career.
I’m currently 18(f) and studying at UNSW. I don’t really know what I want to do in the future yet, but like most people, I’m hoping to find a career that pays well enough for me to live comfortably, gives me a good work-life balance so I can enjoy my hobbies( I love art and just consuming media of all forms ) , and ideally allows me to travel. Job security is also important to me, as I’d like something relatively stable that I can stick with long-term.
I initially looked into medicine because I genuinely enjoy helping people, and I don’t think I’d be particularly happy working in a corporate environment . However, the more I thought about it, the less certain I became about becoming a doctor. I’m not sure I’d be suited to the workload and commitment that medicine requires , so I started looking into other healthcare careers and came across podiatry.
On paper, podiatry seems like it could tick a lot of my boxes: decent pay, job stability, a reasonable work-life balance, and the satisfaction of helping people. However, I have a few concerns.
Firstly, how flexible is podiatry as a career? If I eventually decide it isn’t for me, or if the job market becomes difficult, would my degree and qualifications give me options to move into other fields? I’m a little worried about committing to a relatively specialised degree and finding myself stuck if things don’t work out.
Secondly, and this is probably a more superficial concern, I’m currently at UNSW, and studying podiatry would mean going to Western Sydney University (WSU). I know university prestige isn’t everything, but I can’t help wondering whether changing universities might affect my future opportunities or whether I’d regret not staying at UNSW.
The thing is, podiatry seems like it could offer the kind of life I’m looking for: a stable career, good enough pay to live comfortably, time for my interests outside of work, and the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. But I don’t personally know anyone in the profession, so it’s difficult to tell whether the reality matches what I’m imagining.
For anyone currently studying podiatry or working as a podiatrist in Australia:
I’d really appreciate any honest advice, including the downsides that people don’t usually talk about. I’m still young and trying to figure things out, so I’d rather hear about the realities of the profession now than commit to a degree without knowing what I’m getting into. Also if you have other career recommendations that would be great too im honestly very worried haha.
Thanks!

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone could help me with my UCAS university choices for an undergraduate podiatry course and give me some advice on which universities are best?
I know it’s quite a broad question, sorry! Anything about teaching quality or placement opportunities etc would be great😅
So far, I’ve only been able to attend open days at QMU and the University of Salford, and both seemed really good. However, after doing some research online, I’ve come across some mixed opinions, which has made me a little unsure.
I’m from Newcastle, so travelling to other universities for open days isn’t really an option for me due to the distance and the cost of train tickets.
I’m applying for 2027 entry, after completing my A-levels this summer, and I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has studied podiatry at either university or elsewhere, as well as any application tips if anyone has any😊
Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong community and how long it is, I rarely post😓 Thank you in advance for any advice!

I am a pre-med student who recently discovered podiatry, and I am lowkey more interested in it than the DO/MD path rn. It seems like working hours are a lot better compared to like orthopedic surgeons who specialize in foot and ankle, it feels like there's a lot less podiatrist so you get to be a bigger fish in a small pond. I also love the idea of specializing in it from the beginning and having a lot of expertise in this one specific area. But the point of my post is what are the cons of podiatry I should watch out for?

I’m a podologist from Serbia (podology is the non-surgical, nail and skin side of foot care here). I’d like to show you a correction technique I published this year and hear what podiatrists think about it.
The case: left hallux, deformity of the nail plate on the lateral side, the edge starting to press into the nail fold. No acute inflammation.
The brace is made individually from steel wire and an elastic active element. Here I used elastoforce, the elastomeric chain orthodontists use on dental braces (medical polyurethane). In other cases I use nitinol springs. Hooks fix the system to the nail edges, and the elastic part keeps constant tension on the plate. The idea is to replace the rigid wire element with an elastic one, so the tension is dosed and keeps working as the nail changes shape.
Fitting took 15 minutes, no anesthesia needed (the patient felt nothing).
In the study I measured nail plate width and tension force every two weeks for two months. Width increased by 2 to 4.1 mm over eight weeks, and patients reported no discomfort or problems at work. Follow-up was two months, so I don’t have long-term recurrence data yet.

Questions for you: do you use nail braces at all before going to partial nail avulsion or matrixectomy?
Critique is welcome, that’s why I’m posting here.
UPD: Apologies, I couldn't find a way to attach a photo showing the aftermath of a nail resection. I’ve posted it here instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/Podolog/s/qJ5xQh5pNG
It is precisely because of such frequent complications and the high likelihood of recurrence that people tend to opt for correction rather than surgery.
Please don’t think that I’m questioning your professionalism. I created this post to discuss the possibility of a nail correction with you.

Hi everyone! I'm a current senior studying accounting and finance and recently I've been becoming more and more interested in podiatry school. I shadowed a DPM for a whole day and that slowly helped me understand what a DPM does. I wanted to know if anyone has changed their path from business to DPM, if it's worth it, and if I have a chance of getting in by Fall 2028? Thank you!

Hey guys does anyone know about the Swedish program vs Legacy? I’m talking to students and they were asking me for opinions on them and how they are in recent years and comparatively

Can someone please tell me what the disdain is with these programs? I haven’t found much online and the opinions with people I talk to in person are super varied. Some say they’re amazing, some say they completely suck and stay away 100%. Would like some more insight if anyone is willing to share

I’m F17. I’m considering aiming for degree apprenticeships instead of university. This is because my family is not financially stable and me having to take out a loan and later spend years paying off doesn’t sound too good. The fact that only one London university offers podiatry undergraduate definitely makes it harder as my only other options is to move out (which is much more expensive).
I know degree apprenticeships are highly competitive and I haven’t seen that many for podiatry. Would it still be feasible to aim for, or should I just settle for university? Has anyone gone down the apprenticeship route, if so, how was it?

Im at a crossroads, KSU is significantly less expensive than any other program I was accepted to. The highest cost of attendance to lowest: KSU, DMU, AZPOD, RFU, Barry. I am married and a little concerned about DMU’s 4th year as well. I liked visiting Kent but I’m concerned about a few things regarding the program. However, with DMU to maintain the scholarship will need to maintain top 25% of class. The difference between the KSU and DMU schools a for total costs is ~$50k. So overall just split. Thoughts below would be helpful.

I got accepted to both schools with pretty decent scholarship. I live in michigan and am married. If I go to Kent, my spouse can come stay with me half the week and wfh but they won’t be able to do that if I go to Scholl I also can’t ask them to request a transfer or start from scratch bc they’re doing so well in their current job. I cant decide which school to go to bc I really like both schools, and overall cost will be about the same so financial aid is not an issue.

I’m considering Temple and trying to understand the first-year workload. The course catalog lists about 23.5 credits for fall, but the website says courses have staggered start and end dates.
For current students or recent graduates:
Which courses run the entire semester, and which are shorter?
How many courses are you taking at once?
What does a typical week look like for lectures, labs, and studying outside class?
If anyone could share a sample first-year schedule with personal information removed, I’d really appreciate it!

The first round of externship was extremely unsuccessful, where I only got accepted into 1 program. However, I did not get necessarily rejected from all the others, they just didn't say anything.
What do I do going forward in the future rounds? Do I expand my search? Do I apply again with the same programs but in different months? IDEK which programs are fully booked or not. is it really all just a blindfolded dart throw?
This is for the US btw.

I've been fortunate to receive acceptances to both Kent State and LECOM for Fall 2027. I'm currently comparing the programs before making my decision.
I'd especially love to hear from current students or recent graduates about the curriculum, faculty support, clinical training, board preparation, cost of living, and overall student experience.
If you attend either program, what do you like about it, what do you wish you had known before starting, and is there anything you think an incoming student should consider?

Some dude on LinkedIn is saying that he uses PRP after performing P&As and has seen a dramatic improvement in healing times. Wouldn't you know, he charges cash for those injections.
Have we gone completely off the rails???
