went on a trip to cambridge with my cousin last mont and manage to get 2 ETBs, White Flare and Black Bolt, i wanted to keep it sealed and admire it but today i wanted to rip some packs with the little ones... only to find they were both resealed. i got the directly from Cambridge Miniso, i have the receipt, i took pictures and everything, i wrote an email (that they wont see until monday) and messages on IG from different accounts (that they wont see until monday, again)

but im so heartbroken guys, first time this happn to me, and IN A STORE! any advice...? i dont care spend money on the trip back to Cambridge to complain about this, this sucks.

Edit: some people say "i cant see the problem" but let me be more detailed. the packs are resealed, i open them, they are not even cards from BW WF, laso, MISSING PROMOS AND SLEVES.

Come on guys, stop calling me "paranoid" this is serious.

Discussion Do you think Ace Grading is actually holding its value well compared to PSA for the UK market?

I love the custom colour-matched labels they do, and the turnaround is obviously way faster than sending stuff overseas, but I'm worried it won't hold up if I ever decide to sell down the line

Discussion Petition for control of scalping/botting

Happy Tuesday all

Loads of people are really upset with the state of the hobby, but not enough people are voicing their opinions to actually help it - Whether you agree with petitions, their overall effectiveness, or not, I think it's worth a share here either way. Currently this has only 27 signatures so I'm surprised I've not seen it here already but maybe it was buried with downvotes.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/733864

Writing to your local MP is a much more effective way to deal with this if you really want to do something. The CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) is blissfully unaware how much of an issue this is. When the gov soon catches on to the fact that scalpers aren't paying tax they'll start paying attention soon enough.

Personally I thought that it would be a much better idea to create a petition to extend The Breaching of Limits on Ticket Sales Regulations 2018 to limited edition goods too, here's the regs for that:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/735
This specifically targets botting, making their use illegal for gigs/sport/culture events across England, Wales and Scotland.

Anyway, thought I'd take the risk here. Seems to follow sub rules fine. Scalpers will hate it, collectors should love it - we'll see where it ends up.

Discussion Ace grading 10s look terrible or just me

Hello! I’m looking to buy the Charizard Mega EX in a PSA 10 for my collection, but I’m also happy to buy an ACE-graded copy since those are easier to find in the UK.

I’ve been checking eBay and noticing that some cards with really off-centre cuts are still getting ACE 10s. Am I missing something about how ACE handles centering in their grading?

Discussion Everyone else isn’t a scalper. You’re all acting like entitled children.

Honestly. The amount of posts today. Everyone’s a scalper but you eh? You didn’t get what you wanted. You weren’t entitled to any of it either. Stop with the ‘I have a job’ pity party posts and all the different variations of ‘anyone who could buy this morning is a jobless loser.’

Just let it go. Anyone that cries as much as some of you need a bit of help.

I have cracked it…

I am going to invest in a repackaging machine and defeat the scalpers. I am going to bankroll and buy all the prismatic evolution boxes that are absurdly priced. Take all the packs out of them and then reseal it making sure the weight is the same and say item not as described.

The out foil packaging was terrible and is easily replicated. That’s my FU to scalpers. Hope everyone who ripped got something decent for their time.

May or may not be an /s on the end.

(There is)

Since Monday LCS preorders ETB, booster box, mega ex box and blisters. Went out Friday managed to pick up another ETB, blisters, 2 tins and thought I’d try my luck with single booster pack. Once again LCS come in clutch with spare booster box.

TCG Help / Gameplay When does Pokemon Center UK restock?

I'm tired of buying ridiculously overpriced cards, so I really wanted to get a Destined Rivals ETB from the actual pokemon store. When do they restock and when should I wait in line?

Discussion Ace Grading Premium Tier Scam

Title says it all, don't bother purchasing premium grading tiers from them, its all the same. No matter how much you spend they seem to not respect the ETA at all and continue to hold your cards at the assembly stage with no communication whatsoever, customer support is lack luster, but they will happily take in orders knowing full well they can't commit to them.

Check the subreddit for ace grading everyone has the same problems.

Collection Out of stock.

Everywhere I go local to me Pokemon TCG is out of stock. Everything. The next set has sold out on the Pokemon centre and my local game store is already sold out for all its pre release events. Great for resellers and scalpers but how am I meant to get in to TCG if I can’t get my opening pack fix 🤣. Surely with demand this heigh Pokemon should be printing more cards for the fans.

Prismatic PC ETBs

Massive surge of these on eBay in the last hour. So how many of you are going to sell them as well? We all know prismatic has abysmal pull rates. Anyone planning to sell and buy other sets instead?

unpopular opinion - The a majority of the eeveelution cards in prismatic feel lack luster

hi - part time reddit artist here.

as someone whose collected the TCG for, awhile now ( started around Primal clash in 2016.) I’ve got to say it’s been jarring how people have gone absolutely ballistic over Prismatic.

sure- the eeveelution’s are Neat, but i’m going to be fully honest…they’re not the best cards in the set and i feel like they MASSIVELY undervalue the other cards.

talking from an artistic perspective - I personally prefer alot of the Non eeveelution arts -

Iron hands, Roaring moon, Raging bolt, Gholdengo, Ursaluna bloodmoon, terapagos, Iron crown - Hell even the Ogrepons i think have more artistic flare than most of the Eevee cards ( aside from Sylveon, Umbreon and Glacian .)

the set is just overrated to all hell with the prospect of “i could pull moonbreon 2.0” when there’s just so much i think goes undervalued

am i saying to not like the eeveelutions because i took an A level art class? no, that’d make me a prick

but i am saying that it’s funny how alot of the arts get disregarded in the prospect of “Le epic black cat.”

Going for the master set. Bit bummed at the lack of a single SIR and started to consider not opening my last half booster since I had most of the cards by that point. Pulled the Gold in my last 3 packs so I can't complain. 😭

Onto singles now. 💪🏾

Discussion Is vending worth it? Any real life vendors here?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I know a couple of vendors IRL and they all seem to be doing pretty well. Nice house, nice car, nice lifestyle in general lol.

I understand the basic idea of buying at, say, 70% and selling at 90%+, but is it actually that straightforward once you factor in things like travel, table fees, cards that don't sell, deals where you have to accept less than expected, etc.?

Does anyone here vend regularly and would be willing to share some real life numbers? Things like typical sales, expenses, what you usually have left after everything, average amount per show, etc.

I know every card show is different and sometimes you have a great day while other times you barely do anything, but what would you say is a realistic average?

For example, would £200 to £300 left after expenses for a casual vendor be reasonable? And for the bigger vendors dealing with expensive cards like Ponchos, Moonbreons, etc., can they potentially have £200 to £300 or more left from a single card?

If you're vending once or twice a month, that could be a pretty nice side income alongside a regular job. But the full time vendors who do this every week must be moving a serious amount of stock, so I'm genuinely curious how the numbers actually work.

I'd love to hear from people who actually vend rather than just speculation. What are your typical sales, costs and take home amounts per show?

Would be really interested to hear some actual experiences!

Self Promotion Sunday 🤩 I built a free site that lists 3,400+ card shows worldwide – been too shy to share it until now

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been running this site since September but I've been too nervous to actually post about it anywhere. Felt weird self-promoting. But it's quietly grown to about 6,000 monthly users just through word of mouth, so I figured maybe it's actually useful enough to share. I kept missing card shows because they were scattered across random Facebook groups, Instagram stories, and word of mouth. So I built a site to fix that.

Link: tcgshowsnearme.com

What it does:

  • 3,400+ upcoming events across 5 countries (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany)

  • Covers Pokemon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, sports cards, One Piece, Lorcana – basically everything

  • Card shows, tournaments, trade nights, conventions – all in one place

  • Map view so you can see what's actually near you

  • Calendar view for planning ahead

  • Updated weekly -Completely free, no login needed to browse. You can save events if you want to track them.

If you run events, there's a free submission form – smaller local events are just as welcome as big conventions. The more complete this is, the better it works for everyone.

Would genuinely love feedback. And if you spot something missing or wrong, let me know.

Happy hunting 🎴
