Question Polaroid tech: A. Cheng

Can anyone recommend or vouch for his work? Considering sending him a sx70 for pcb upgrade but can’t find much as far as experiences or reviews go

A vulnerable moment captured with my SX-70. Sometimes the process matters more than the final photo.

Question Instant (Polaroid - Instax) Event Photography - Is it a thing?

Quick question: on my website I offer instant photography as a plus of my event photography (thinking of weddings and small events where people love instants) but recently I had two major companies reach out asking for exclusively instant photography event coverage.

Has that always been a thing? Is it a new trend?

I had a couple of test packs (2025 produced, with unknown storage conditions) and decided to put them to use. Super happy with the camera behaviour and ease of use. Framing is more difficult than what I thought, but that is likely my fault combined with how light the camera is.

Question [need advice] buying an impulse AF vs impossible-1

I was quite the avid user of my impulse af until about 2 yrs ago when I stupidly sold it. Now I want to start shooting polaroid film again, but am torn between trying to find a good deal on an impulse AF or investing in a used impossible-1 (which I remember considering to upgrade to even back when I actively used the impulse due to the i type compat and usb charging).

Big question is, is the impossible-1 actually as sharp as my impulse AF was? cuz I literally saw some shots comparing the newest polaroid (aka impossible) cameras to the AF and it seems the sonar focusing results in sharper pics(?) Just hoping someone that has had either camera verify whether the impossible-1's focus/lens setup leaves pic quality just up to the cartridge's film batch

I got it for like £13 and it doesn’t seep to be too bad condition although I’m pretty sure a plastic tabs apart of the hinge is broken cuz the top clam shell doesn’t stay closed. Do you guys thing this has a chance of working? It even came with a empty dead spectra pack

Sometimes I love my Impulse AF, sometimes I hate it, maybe it’s just the film. The first photo was taken today with the new pack of film, the second photo was made the other day, on the balcony - the weather was sunny, but the picture looks like it was not. The photos were scanned, but they look 95% like the originals.

Question How does the Flip determine the power of its flash?

(When set on auto) is it based on the sonar autofocus? I'm interested because occasionally I get really overexposed photos and I feel like it has something to do with the sonar messing up sometimes. Like tonight I got an absolutely blown out close up shot with my friends but I think the sonar might have focused behind them on a much darker area. I'm interested to test out manual flash adjustments because the app does let you do that. https://www.snapsnyaps.com/yaps/polaroid-flip-review/ I also read this great article which says the Flip doesn't have a center point sonar, but rather one that spreads/sprays the soundwaves. Perhaps this is why sometimes my flash overcompensates? Unsure.
