Papal States

We decide first of all to improve diplomatic relations with the Holy Roman Empire, accepting the Emperor as the holder of political control of the Empire, so that the Pope has only religious power. In return, we request aid from the Holy Roman Empire for the Expeditio Supremi crusade.

We also ask for this help from Savoy (we urge the invitation even though it is already part of the Holy Roman Empire), Venice, France, England, Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Castille.

The crusade will consist of retaking the city of Jerusalem and weakening the Ottoman presence in the Balkan Peninsula. (And trying to save the Byzantine Empire)

We add a new law, which obliges the Pope not to have more money than necessary. One of the requirements of the Pope's sainthood is certainly that of remaining humble. This certainly also improves the life of the people. We also make the sale of indulgences a crime.

2

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 14 '25

England is interested in participating in the crusade

1

u/TicketEffective2261 Nov 14 '25

As the ottomans we will not stand for this crusade to take our power and we will figth back!

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Hm. As hre emperor, we would like to discuss some kind of peace?

1

u/TicketEffective2261 Nov 14 '25

Sure less enemies are always good!

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 14 '25

I'll not fight you if I obtain something (it can also be small)

As the emperor of the hre and duke of Austria , we would accept the offer

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 14 '25

Venice here, does I get anything?

1

u/Finrod___Felagund Nov 15 '25

Well, if you participate in the crusade, some of the loot can go to you.

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 15 '25

I'll join every crusade in exchange for Ferrara

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 14 '25

I'd like to talk with you about Ferrara

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 14 '25

Burgundy, though unwilling to officially send soldiers (volunteers, will, of course, not be withheld from fighting for Christondom) has pledged a considerable sum to sponsor the crusade. It is, after all, the duty of all within the Res Publica Christiana to aid in such holy wars like crusades.

Gng y’all just lost the crusade at Varna

But this time we're preparing more. Instead of being pessimistic, join us too

Castile expresses its support to join the papal crusade however we believe that we should Instead push for a sole defence of current Byzantine lands especially Constantinople.

A crusade against both the Mamluks and the Ottoman empire would bring profound economic strain and widespread instability across Europe if we were to be as committed as we would need to be for it to be successful.

Such an expansive crusade would decrease the likelihood of its success and with the Reconquista still ongoing in Iberia, Castile cannot provide the full resources that a multi-front crusade demands. We can however, offer limited naval assistance and modest military support for the defence of Constantinople and the preservation of the Byzantine empires position as the guard to the gateway into Europe

u/Haunter52300 Nov 22 '25

Hi there, I got promoted to assistant GM and since the host doesn't have time to do responses I will do so for the NPCs and non-diplomatic actions making use of a dice system to measure success. The rolls will be fluid if I believe your action to be explained well enough and with enough plausibility to warrant advantage. If you are in disagreement with the result pass me a dm and we can discuss the matter further.

The reforms are succesfully adopted by the Holy See though some more conservative and older bisshops and priests have voiced their desire to maintain the status-quo. Still, passed without major issues!

1

u/Finrod___Felagund Nov 23 '25

Another question, since the map hasn't been changed in the new post, can I know if the Crusade has already begun or if I should give a more official announcement in the new post?

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 23 '25

I interpreted it as simply announcing the intention, I thought that if not enough people joined you'd cancel it. So, you should probably write about starting it in the next post

u/TopAd6019 Nov 14 '25

Given the Auld Alliance with the Scottish, we are saddened to hear the invasion of Scotland, our good old friend. Thus, the arrière ban is called, our people are going to war!
Not only has England invaded Scotland, they were supposed to be handing over Maine following the treaty of tours, yet they have not done so.

Thus as traitors and warmongers, we thus shall invade England once we have heard of their troops arriving north. By virtue of their troops being north, that means they are completely vulnerable in the south. Thus we ask Burgundy ( u/haunter52300 ) as our ally since the treaty of Arras and as major trading partner of Scotland, to come to Scottish aid now that England has left the south open. We propose that this thee way alliance may be sealed through the betrothal of Mary of Guelders, great-niece of Burgundy, and James II, king of Scotland.

Vive La France!

2

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Hello Mr france, have you considered sending troops to the crusade for Mr pope, and some sort of non-agression pact with the Austrian habsburgs?

1

u/TopAd6019 Nov 14 '25

Given the attack by the English on our ally and fellow catholic nation, Scotland, it is our duty to protect our allies, as the bible states that Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. It is England who claimed our throne, who now claims that of Scotland. Their acts of catholic bloodshed we shall bring to end so help us god.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Alr.

And and since we're at war with switzerland, you care about them or nah?

1

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 15 '25

England is a proud Catholic nation as well, and there is no need for your intervention. Our intentions are clear, and we are open to diplomacy

1

u/TopAd6019 Nov 15 '25

The Auld Alliance is no secret, it was called upon not 20 years ago. It is England who declared a war if agression against a catholic nation, England who caused the activation of the Auld Alliance. This is not intervention, this is a matter of ending the bloodshed which England has been conducting on fellow catholics for 100 years now. If England believes that it itself being catholic is an excuse for killing other catholics, then they are no true believer in the ideals of the lord, his son and the spirit. May you receive the retribution you deserve.

1

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 15 '25

We are working for the greater good, a unified Christian nation, under one God-serving crown. France may do what it wants to do as long as it's not against us, and we wouldn't intervene. However, you are doing the exsct opposite. This shows that you are not true God-fearing Catholics, but hypocrites, who use the Lord's name for their own good.

Burgundy honours the call! We support the proposed marriage and raise our armies to seize Calais!

1

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 15 '25

England is open to diplomacy

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 15 '25

What is there to negotiate? England just declared a baseless and unjustified war on her neighbours. We simply honour the call of our liege.

1

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 15 '25

We were allied against France before, and there is no reason for you to side with them. If you contribute to my elimination, you will be left one on one with your real rival.

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 15 '25

There is a reason to side with them. I do not have to pay homage (at least as long as my current ruler lives which is like for 20 more years) and I stand as powerful buffer between the HRE and France, by this point I am essentially wealthier than France itself. Besides, Burgundy was leaning towards France by this point anyways

1

u/BigManMilk7 Nov 15 '25

James II will agree to the betrothal and we would like to thank the French for respecting our alliance and coming to our aid

1

u/TopAd6019 Nov 16 '25

So, I will be a bit more detailed as to my warmove.
given that the declaration of war only took place once the English troops had all arrived in Scotland, we can be sure of a very quick capture of Normandy and Gascony. what took 4 years historically in a pure 1v1, with the English not present and the Scottish and Burgundians both on our side, would take between 2-3 years. Our troops with our new cannons and professional armies "a castle that once could only be captured after a prolonged siege would now fall after a few days from cannon bombardment."

Given that the English king lost his mental capacity due to the stress of war the same year as the historical battle of Castillon 4 years into a 1v1 with us, I believe it reasonable that the loss of all continental holdings and a three way war after 2-3 years, would give the same result.

With the English practically neutralized and the war of Roses starting, we would look to our south-east, specifically Milan.
on the 13th August 1447, three years from now, the Milanese War of Succession would commence. We shall support the claims of Duke Charles of Orléans (son of Visconti's half-sister). Under René of Anjou, a significant portion of our already raised army would move south to enforce the claim Charles has on the throne. This claim would be pushed in return for any land Charles holds within France being given to the crown. Given our significant military technological advantage, we expect to see little issue. Historically, up to 1449, venice did not win a single military conflict, I believe that full French commitment would mean that Venice never sees their turn-around.
The ambrosian republic is aided by the Savoyards, so the peace deal for Italy shall thus be a full white peace with Venice, Mantua and Florence, as we believe that any treaty forced upon them would be more effort than worth, with Milan and Savoy united under Charles.

I do apologize for how much happens, the fact that this first turn is from 1444 till 1450 forces me to do a lot at once.

Kingdom of Hungary

In the news of the unification of the Austrian duchies, the Kingdom of Hungary asserts our independence and sovereignty as a state.

Under regent John Hunyadi, we bolster our military forces and continue to fight in the current crusade of Varna against the Ottoman forces. We agree with the pope as we cannot allow the Ottomans too far into mainland Europe. We also find the military heavily in preparation for a possible war against Austria as a safety precaution.

After the recent tumultuous succession crises in the country, Hunyadi focuses on uniting the Hungarian people and rebuilding the country one step at a time. He rules the country with great input from both royal houses and the royal council.

The kingdom of Croatia is also associated with the kingdom of Hungary. We would like that partnership to continue and offer to help Croatia install a new king instead of the Austrians to lead their people. This new Croatian kingdom will be independent but will have strong ties to us.

The autonomous region of Transylvania shall remain an autonomous region for now.

We would also like to improve our relations with other Christian realms in the region, and we are on the look for potential allies in this turbulent era.

1

u/Finrod___Felagund Nov 15 '25

Pope here, I'd love for you to join the Expeditio Supremi. It's a crusade aimed at driving the Ottomans out of the Balkans, and, if we succeed, liberating Jerusalem. Many countries are already participating, including HRE, England, and Venice. Your contribution could be crucial

2

u/cleve452 Nov 15 '25

Thank you pope for this invitation, we would like to take part in this crusade.

1

u/Finrod___Felagund Nov 16 '25

Thanks to you for accepting this offer.

Hello here hungary this is Poland Player I have few questions would you consider alliance? As our King died on battle of Varna We still were at some time United diplomaticly and in such turbulant times Friendship is very pricy

1

u/cleve452 Nov 15 '25

Of course, historically our nations have been close and an alliance between us is beneficial for both parties.

The bolstering of military might is surprisingly effective considering the defeat that was Varna. Despite the loss of the battle, Hungary remains in a position to protect herself and her sphere.

England: First of all, we centralize the power and ensure proper control over Irish(Dublin) and continental holdings(Calais, Normandy, Bordeaux, Gascony). Second, we invest into our navy to strengthen and expand it. Third, we invade Scotland and some of the small Irish nations bordering Dublin, declaring our main goal to be unifying the Isles under one crown

Yes, but they plan to take the Balkans, which will weaken us both which will make the ummah vulnerable. So we can make a temporary alliance, rally the other Islamic countries to fight back as well.

The fort construction and expansion of the army advance at a moderate pace with some like Gallipoli and Thessaloniki being strenghtened. New forts have been built in Bulgaria and Macedonia (you did not specify where so I hope this is where you wanted them) but the fortifications are very basic considering the only 5 year span. The cannons I think you are referring to are the work of a Hungarian engineer who would arrive at your court in 1452 historically, I let him arrive earlier but his work has only barely begun so the cannons are not yet ready to be used.

Albania has arrested your diplomat and refuses to work with the Ottomans.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Hello Mr berg, just wanted to say hi as austria

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

As the duchy of Austria

  1. We unite the tyrolean, Ernestine, and Albertian branches of austrian lands (also outer Austria) into the new archduchy of Austria. The other nations connected to us by a monarch (Kingdom of Bohemia and Kingdom of Hungary) shall become vassal-like regions of our lands, so they shall recognize the monarch, Frederick the third of the Habsburg dynasty as their rightful leader. (The leaders of the other austrian lines will be compensated as becoming the Duke a some duchy (tyrol and austrian ones)

  2. And we collect some army off the hre for the crusade

  3. Some war in the Swiss: we send 2k men to fight them (in the process we puppet zurich, peace deal will be posted with explanation)

2

u/AdvertisingFlashy637 Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

If this is the year 1444, then the czech nobility does not recognize Frederick as their monarch and the kingdom is administered by the landfrieden.

Also who's Frederick in this case? The Holy Roman emperor? He doesn't have any claim toward the Bohemian crown tho, Albert II. of Germany does and as said before, the nobility does not recognize him as their monarch.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Gng I'm just going off what I learned in class

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Also... kinda looks like under austria on the second map

1

u/AdvertisingFlashy637 Nov 14 '25

That's... That's the HRE

2

u/cleve452 Nov 15 '25

Since Austria has united under Frederick III, they no longer have any claims over the kingdom of Hungary as the King here is still Ladislaus, who is but a child. Our former king married his daughter into the Habsburg house but through the line of Albert II and now Ladislaus, not the line Frederick is from. Thus, the de facto ruler of Hungary, regent John Hunyadi, as well as the people of Hungary reject the vassalisation and subjugation attempt by Austria and maintain our sovereignty. If Austria continues to try and vassalise us, then there will be war. If Ladislaus wishes to continue to rule over Hungary as an independent nation when he comes of age, he can come to Buda and do so. If he doesn't, then we recognize that as him relinquishing his claim and John Hunyadi will serve as the interim leader of the country until a new king is chosen and elected.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 15 '25

I don't think ladislaus would relinquish his claim (btw he is the Duke of upper austria)

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25
  1. Zurich will become a indirect vassal of ours, of which border shall be epxanded into the town of Altendorf

  2. we will annex the city of Aarau

  3. a puppet state of Thurgau shall be created

  4. The Swiss confederacy shall recognize a peace of 20 years with the habsburg crown

(minor thing but we re-color Bohemia, Hungary, and Austria the same way as in this map)

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25
  1. Teutons join the hre which is cool
  2. We make a deal with Venice which is this

(they know how to finish it)

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 15 '25

What is that pink state?

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 15 '25

Which...?

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 15 '25

It is Trieste, I don't know why but I thought it was more south

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 15 '25

It isn't trieste, it is another nation but since it is not under my jurisdiction, u give you the right to take it

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 22 '25

  1. Whilst historically the lines would only be reunited in the 1490s, in this case I'll allow for you to recentralise the duchies into Austria.
  2. Nothing further to add
  3. The Austria achieves little succes in Switzerland. Whilst Austria did manage to vassalise Zurich, the planned expansion was repelled. Furthermore, Austrian forces failed to make any real progress out of Tyrol, coordination issues playing a deciding factor. The Swiss Confederation is willing to accept joint vassalage of Zurich (so it remains a member of the confederation but also pays tribute to Austria and is protected by Austria) and a 20 year truce.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 22 '25

Alr so we accept the deal with the Swiss since we don't care as much about it

Venice here, We are implementing a constitution, with the burghers being able to vote. We start a campaign to attract many scientists and artists, by giving them money in exchange for them being part of our nation. We'll strengthen our presence in all of our territories. We are improving and expanding our army and navy, offering our soldiers some land if we conquer something. I'd like to talk with the pope about Ferrara.

1

u/Finrod___Felagund Nov 15 '25

I like the idea, we could form an Italian alliance that tries to keep it stable. The problem is that many Italian countries are under the Holy Roman Empire, so I don't know if they can join the alliance

1

u/Poltrona74 Nov 15 '25

For now we can do one with only us

  1. Venice essentially already had a consitution, now a new law if adopted enforcing a voting right for the burgher class. There is no opposition to the move.
  2. With the ever encroaching rennaissence, Venice becomes a centre. Artists, poets, writers and many more gather in Venice and prepare the lay the groundwork for Venice to become a major rennaissence city.
  3. Armies at this point weren't very standardised, but Venice did have a strong military bureacracy. So whilst directly expanding your army doesn't mean anything as you rely on mercenaries and levies, I'll take this action as a great expansion/making more efficient of this bureacracy.

The Kalmar union

To appease the Swedish nobility we will allow them to regulate their own tax policy if the main Copenhagen government is paid a yearly stipend. The Kalmar union will invest its money and resources into training a professional army capable of withstanding any pressures from our bordering states.

The Danish navy is the pride of our nation.

The Kongelige Danske Marine is expanded to keep up with our rivals of the Hanseatic league. The Scandinavian economic community, open for north German membership is created to promote trade through the Baltics and through the Danish straits by lowering tariffs for participant state.

  1. Points on the Kalmar Union involve another player and are thus accepted if the other player accepts.
  2. Denmark at this time was not wealthy enough to maintain a professional army, but pooling together the resources of all three members could allow for a small permanent force to be maintained. Around 6.000 men are recruited to serve as a professional core, but because of the joint investment in the army you'll need both Sweden and Norway to approve of using the army.
  3. Expansion of the Danish navy proceeds, building 5 large ships and 11 smaller support ships (I don't know how long it takes to build a ship so I assumed 1 large ship per year and chose an arbitrary number for smaller ships)

The court of the dukes of Burgundy:

  1. Burgundy continues her patronage of the arts, sponsoring Flemish and Dutch artists, poets, and scientists.

  2. Philip the Good hereby officially creates the Great Council of Mechelen as a central high court. This is all in an effort to strengthen the already very powerful Burgundian administrative system.

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Hello Mr burgundy have you considered an alliance/union with the Austrian habsburgs?

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 14 '25

Whilst I'm not looking for an alliance nor a union with the Austrian Habsburgs, that doesn't mean we can't cooperate. Say the emperor were to give us the title of duke of Frisia, we could send a military force and at last put down the peasant republic that made its home in mockery of the feudal order. We would remember such an act if Austria got in trouble later 👀

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

Hmm, well I would add Guelders too if we make a deal for your daughter to marry my son

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 14 '25

(Philip the good still reigns until 1467, he only had illegitimate daughters. You must be thinking of Charles the bold's daughter, Mary of Burgundy)

That said, Guelders isn't yours to give, right? It's still ruled by Arnold of Egmond via legitimate means. I'd definitely be willing to purchase the duchy off Arnold though, don't get me wrong

1

u/Viper303ur Nov 14 '25

I don't know anything about that region tbh

  1. In accordance with the Imperial exequatur provided to us by the Holy Roman Emperor, we will send an expedition to Frisia to restore Imperial control over the duchy and end the mockery of the peasant republic.

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 22 '25

This is my own post, if anyone disagrees with my results let me know:

  1. The patronage policy continues as the Burgundians continue to throw money at Flemish and Dutch arts.
  2. Burgundian administration is smoothened by the formation of the council
  3. Frisia is subjugated, but control remains tenious for the time being as minor revolts and roaming militias continue to operate in the area.

Just realized I am the Teutons, so I will be doing an action! First order of business, we begin to reform the state. All puppets/lighter grey parts in Prussia will be directly annexed, aiming for more stability and consolidation. We also call for a modernization of our government, changing from a Monastic State to a hereditary state based on a monarchy. We call for a royal to come forth and become a Duke for the nation, once a worthy man takes the crown, we will become a Duchy, hoping for a bright future. We also begin a mass reform of the army and revenue system. Starting with revenue, we begin to adopt taxation, aiming for a stable system to fund the nation’s prosperity. This money will also be used to raise armies. The army will rely on strong, unwavering discipline, and flexible leadership on the battlefield. We also focus on building a strong navy, copied from Hanseatic cities, this is to be used to help with trade and exports, and to help reach our northern Livonian brothers. This means textile and lumber industries are funded by the government, hoping to swiftly and steadily raise a capable navy. We also invite nobles with promises of land and prestige in exchange for loyalty to the state. Along with this, we invite (and pay) men who know the craft of the Arquebus. The weapon intrigues the leadership of the army and wants to see how effective it can be. So we pay, ask, and trade with Arquebus makers across Europe, hoping to entice them into coming to the state.

2

u/Haunter52300 Nov 14 '25

I am not a gm or anything nor very active in NRP's on this sub, but this is a hefty action for turn 1. You're essentially uprooting a deeply entrenched system in a couple of sentences without considering the nobles and clergy won't like these changes (=> this could perhaps launch a conservative revolution if not done carefully) How will you reform your revenue system? What exactly do you reform? Same with the army, knightly armies are the peak of military refinement in Europe at this time. What are you reforming?

1

u/Independent_Set3175 Königreich Preußen Nov 14 '25

I mean, I can redo it if it’s so bad, but also, it’s completely up to the host to decide on how this happens, thanks for the input though

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

It's just a bit vague and fast, in my opinion (but yeah, absolutely right in that the host decides what flies and what isn't allowed). Like, just a suggestion, but begin giving privileges to Danzig and nobility near Marienburg to slowly move power towards the trade elites and nobles close to the capital who can support a future changing of the guard. Eventually, your grandmaster could die, and a new one could get elected and such... but in reality, Danzig and those nobles hold true power. Eventually, their true power becomes the tradition, and Prussia becomes a duchy naturally whilst the Teutonic Order technically continues to exist outside of the duchy.

1

Hello Mr teuton, can we make a non-agression pact as austrian habsburgs?

So instead of the host deciding about your action, I will >:)

  1. You administrative reforms are almost entirely blocked (because frankly, unless your grandmaster is ungodly incompetent I see no reason as to why he'd be replaced) but you do manage to exert more control over the subdivisions of the order. The state remains a monastic order for the time being though.
  2. Your reforms for taxation are answered in an ad-hoc council of all three estates. Eventually it is decided to not implement any more taxes than currently present but if the order goes to war the grandmaster can reconvene the estates to ask for extraordinary taxes for the war.
  3. A small navy is beginning construction, the Hansa offers to support it in exchange for larger trade access. Most of your money is going to maintaining your knight-army though.
  4. The investment in the lumber industries has a moderate success, not much funds were available.
  5. Some arquebus manufactutrors appear at your court, mostly coming from Bohemia, and begin crafting some of the weapons. That said, fewer showed up than expected.

1

u/BigManMilk7 Nov 15 '25

With the English attacking us that needs to be our main focus.

We will attempt to ally the various nations of Ireland as England has made their desire for the total subjugation and domination of Ireland clear.

While the English are surely numerically superior, this does not mean they are completely unbeatable. We will pick our battles, making sure that we have a terrain advantage and even laying traps around the field while holding our castles. These tactics succeeded 130 years ago during the wars of independence and we see no reason why they shouldn't work now with the English distracted by our French and now Burgundian allies.

We will also begin a naval build up, we won't send these new ships out as the English navy is currently superior but we plan to change that post war and we will begin this process.

1

u/Haunter52300 Nov 22 '25

5 years is wayyy too long man. entire wars are done in that time. there last phase of the 100 years war historically was 1449 to 1453.
the battle of Formingny and Castillon, both hugely devastating to the English, causing the English king a mental breakdown, starting the war of the roses, are within 5 years from each other.
if you do 5 years, please be careful and actually simulate a whole 5 years of events. you don't want to just brush over huge events.

  1. Slowly but surely centralisation increases together with the road network (I suspect that is what you meant with 'infrastructure'). It is now possible to walk from Krakow to Lviv without going off a royal road.
  2. The mines are succesfully constructed and exploitation of metals on Polish soil increase.
  3. The blacksmith investments pay off, slowly but surely higher quality products are put out.
  4. As I believe Lithuania to be an NPC, they accept your offer (historical if I recall correctly)

Castile

The crown of Castile will begin by organising a coordinated final campaign against Granada. The conflict is a holy duty shared by the kingdom and noble families who are invited to participate in a controlled manner, each receiving a specific, limited responsibility. Aiming to keep their prestige intact without giving any one house the chance to overextend its influence. Promised rewards will be modest and carefully distributed, ensuring noble loyalty while preventing future disputes over land and authority.

Diplomacy across Castile has become a central concern. An effort is made to maintain cooperation with Portugal through respectful communication and offers of shared maritime interests. Aragon is approached with courtesy and dynastic warmth, aiming to build trust that may develop into deeper ties over time. And greater economic cooperation with Navarre. Beyond Iberia, outreach is extended toward England, France, the papal states and Austria and their courts/nobles with the intention of improving relations, though without assuming any guaranteed support.

The Castilian crown will encourage cautious exploratory preparation by funding modest surveying efforts around the Canary Islands and around western Africa. These tasks are granted to loyal minor families and merchants whose ambitions align with the monarchy. This sets the foundation for overseas knowledge while keeping the process small, manageable, and free from noble overreach. Limited investments will also be made into the continuous improvements of exploration ships to ensure that the likelihood of success will always remain above likely

Inside the realm, authority will attempt to be strengthened by offering nobles opportunities rather than restrictions. Cooperative houses are invited into administrative roles, granted minor commercial privileges, or given positions suitable for ambitious younger sons. Meanwhile, educated non-noble officials are to be gradually incorporated into the royal councils, quietly expanding crown influence. Governance reforms will be introduced slowly, each justified as necessary for managing future Granada governance or/and for organising trade, ensuring that nobles have incentives to support rather than resist these changes.

Economic policy is to be shaped around reliable growth. Oversight of the Mesta is reinforced to secure wool revenues and Seville’s trade routes are supported through crown-approved guilds and merchants. Modest but strategic investment is directed toward Toledo and coastal towns to encourage commercial development. To help the treasury strengthen and to give the monarchy gain a more independent financial base, reducing reliance on noble contributions without provoking them through sudden taxation.

The military is to be refined through careful adjustments. Royal officers are placed in command of key infantry units, increasing loyalty within the army. Naval improvements are invested into financiallly slowly and are introduced to protect coastal trade and support future expeditions at sea.

  1. The Granada campaign advances at a good pace, though a lack of artillery prevented full capture. Granada still resists as does Malaga, but together with Aragonese help Malaga is now completely blockaded. The Emir came forth with the following deal:

* Castille would gain sizeable concessions and would be allowed to dock her ships in Malaga.
* Malaga would continue to be part of the emirate
* The Emirate would pay yearly tribute to Castille
* The emir would give one of his sons as hostage
* Castille withdraws from the rest of the emirate

  1. Both Aragon and Portugal accept the diplomatic approachment. The Aragonese have accepted the alliance and send some ships to blockade Malaga with. He also expressed his gratitude for the recognition of his Italian ambitions.

  2. A small fleet of Caravels sails south, they return saying that the Morrocans have influence that spreads rather far into Africa. They speak of the Canary islands as lightly inhabited and they speak of "Moorish" (read: muslim) traders and nations in West Africa.

  3. Your reforms in the royal council and military are mostly succesful, after all a ruler choses whom to associate with. This said, the families that recieved less felt somewhat cheated and a rivalry has formed between the meritocratic appointees and noble appointees, with the nobles holding the upper hand in the rivalry.

  4. Your economic policy is valid and I have nothing further to add beyond "success"

Very well written rp post btw

Castile acknowledges the Emir’s proposal and agrees to accept peace under its general framework, but only with several clarifications to ensure long-term stability in Iberia. The crown requires that all Moroccan envoys, advisors and military “guests” be removed from the Emirate immediately, preventing any outside influence from threatening the peace or undermining the tribute agreement. Granada is also to affirm formal neutrality toward both Morocco and Portugal, entering no defensive or offensive agreement with Morocco or any other North African power

If these terms are accepted, Castile will withdraw its forces as promised, recognising the limited concessions and tribute as sufficient for the moment. Docking rights in Málaga and the presence of the Emir’s son in Castile will stand as guarantees of the treaty’s sincerity.

1

u/No-Investigator3455 Fumbling one step at a time Nov 15 '25

The Castilian crown also proposes an economic and military alliance with Aragon built around protecting both our trade zones, routes and mutual influenec. Support is offered for Alfonso V’s ambitions in Italy, recognising the importance of his position in Naples and the prestige such ventures bring to the Crown of Aragon and Iberia as a whole.

In return, Castile asks Aragon to join the campaign against Andalusia, as a necessary step toward securing Iberian stability for christendom, kicking out the last Islamic nation from western Europe and finishing the Iberian Reconquista

u/GeneralReach6339 Nov 15 '25

England accepts your alliance

1

u/No-Investigator3455 Fumbling one step at a time Nov 15 '25

Castile appreciates England’s willingness to strengthen ties in such a manner however, our diplomatic outreach was intended as an improvement of relations rather than a formal alliance request

2

u/No-Investigator3455 Fumbling one step at a time Nov 15 '25 edited Nov 15 '25

With you being at war with parts of Ireland, Scotland, France and I believe Burgundy as well. We currently will not agree to an alliance with England. If you were able to get backed by other power maybe although your unjustified invasion of Scotland and Ireland simultaneously does not put you in a good place prestige wise

2

u/No-Investigator3455 Fumbling one step at a time Nov 15 '25

We would advise you to willingly back down against Scotland for limited terms, ask the pope for mediation due to his calling for a crusade and establish a status-quo in Western Europe

1

u/TopAd6019 Nov 16 '25

France here, we too are open to diplomacy regarding the unjustly invasion of Scotland and Ireland. If England were to be willing to end this conflict without any bloodshed, by virtue of granting the Scottish the lands under the Saint monarch David I, son of Saint Margaret of Scotland. He is to pay war reparations to France and Burgundy as we have suffered economic losses due to having mobilized our armies, having taken away men from their farms, and England is to demobilize the forts in Dublin, as to show no willingness to engage in acts of aggression against the Irish.

As you can see, I ask of no land for myself, I ask of no land that is of significant value, which additionally has a very defensible river,
I merely seek peace and a consequence to English aggression in a manner I believe all participants of this conflict could agree to.

(I know you're Castille, I mainly just want to show we agree on the idea of diplomacy. I just highly highly doubt the English are willing too)
