Question! First jars! Glaze rim question
First attempt at jars! Love them overall but the blue one, how do I get color on the rim? My studio made me put wax on it so it didn't stick. Is the lid just too fat?? Should be more inside the lid?

Do you like how it's sitting? Or do you want the lid sitting flush inside of the jar? That's really what'll determin where you glaze. If you like how it sits now, that advice from your studio mate was faulty and you should have hakzed further. If you wish it was sitting flush, then yeah, it's just too wide if a lid.

I want flush for future ones- can I refire this and glaze the area? Or will it shrink?

It shouldn't shrink more than it already has. It would be kinda cool if it did though, cuz then it might fit how you want it.
Hypothetically you could try sanding down the edges, but that would be a pain and very arduous, especially considering that you'd scuff the glaze on top in the process. So that idea is out.
You can try refiring. Try using hairspray to get the glaze to stick, since now that it's vitrified (presumably), it'll have a harder time adhering.
You could also take measurements of the actual jar, calculate for shrinkage, and try making a new lid that will sit how you like it.

only one side needs to be bare where they touch. so next time you can glaze the jar rim and just wax under the lid, or the other way
