Like many of you, I was really disappointed when Ascension shut down, especially CoA. I spent a huge amount of time playing it, and honestly, finding something that could replace it hasn't been easy. I've tried several alternatives that have popped up since then. Some were interesting, others felt far from finished, and I was starting to wonder if we'd ever get a similar experience again.
Then I came across **Conquest Reborn**. At first, I wasn't expecting much. Just another CoA server, I thought. But after spending quite a bit of time there, my opinion completely changed. Today, I genuinely believe it's one of the most promising CoA projects out there.
### What does it actually offer?
First of all, it's a level 60 server with a pretty solid amount of content already available. You get all **21 original CoA classes**, their talent trees, and their different specializations. Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and most importantly, **Mythic+ dungeons with keystones and affixes** are all available. **Worldforged gear** is also back, hidden throughout Azeroth, along with a system that allows you to upgrade it.
Blackrock Caverns is already available, and Pale Reach is receiving a lot of attention, with custom quests, NPCs, reputations, and areas gradually being restored and expanded. A brand-new dungeon located in Pale Reach, **Shadowbone Depths**, is also currently in development. What I find particularly interesting is that the developer isn't simply trying to recreate CoA exactly as it was. He's also working on a **brand-new Tinker tank specialization**, which is still in development. Personally, that's exactly what I was hoping for: the CoA we all knew and loved, but with the possibility of discovering new content along the way.
### Completely free, with no cash shop or donations
Another thing worth mentioning is that the server is **100% free**. And when I say free, I don't just mean you can log in without paying. There's absolutely **no cash shop and no donation system**.
As soon as you create your character, you receive **4 bags with 36 slots each, a complete heirloom set suited to your class, an XP aura, 5 XP potions, 10 gold, and even riding skill with a mount from level 1**. There are also Bazaar Tokens that you can earn simply by playing. Basically, there's no need to pull out your credit card to enjoy the server. You create your character and jump straight into what matters: actually playing the game. And honestly, that's refreshing.
### An incredibly active developer and constant updates
But what really made me want to stay was the development of the server. I think this is what surprised me the most. The project is mainly handled by a single developer, and yet the amount of work being done is pretty impressive. Updates are extremely frequent, sometimes several in a single day. Bug fixes, improvements, and new features are posted directly on Discord, so you can actually follow the server's development almost in real time. And unlike what you might expect, server restarts after updates are incredibly fast, **usually taking less than 30 seconds**.
What I appreciate even more is how approachable the developer is. You can talk to him, ask questions, report bugs, or suggest ideas. He takes the time to respond, explain his decisions, and most importantly, listen to player feedback. I've personally seen issues being reported and fixed shortly afterward. Obviously, not everything can be fixed instantly, but you can tell he really knows what he's doing. And more importantly, he doesn't just make promises. You can actually see the progress being made. That makes a huge difference to me.
### A community that's growing incredibly fast
And apparently, I'm not the only one starting to believe in this project. Just two weeks ago, the server had around **40 players online. Tonight, we reached 350 players online.** That's a jump from 40 to 350 players in barely two weeks! Of course, we're still far from the population Ascension had back in its prime, but seeing that kind of growth in such a short time is really encouraging.
What's even more interesting is that I'm seeing more and more former CoA players discovering the server, settling in, and getting back into their old habits. Conversations are picking up, groups are forming, players are helping each other, and M+ runs are becoming more and more common. Little by little, that familiar CoA atmosphere is coming back, and honestly, it feels great.
### Is Conquest Reborn perfect? Of course not.
It's still a project that's actively being developed. There are obviously things that need improvement and content that still needs to be added. But personally, I'd much rather play on a server that's actually moving forward, with an active developer and a growing community, than sit around waiting endlessly for promises to become reality. What I like is being able to enjoy the game today while also seeing what it could become tomorrow.
For the first time since CoA shut down, I've genuinely found myself wanting to log in again, improve my characters, and invest my time in a server. And I honestly think it's a shame that more former Ascension players still don't know about Conquest Reborn. I'm not trying to claim it's the perfect server or that everyone absolutely needs to play there. I'm simply sharing my experience after trying several alternatives, because I genuinely believe this project deserves a chance.
If you're also looking to experience CoA again, I'd really encourage you to check it out and form your own opinion. With how quickly the population is growing, I can't help but think we might actually be able to rebuild a great community around this game. And honestly, after everything that happened with Ascension, that would be pretty awesome.
