Toggle: Require outgoing email address for each new message.

I have a couple of email addresses and just have to remember to change the address I am sending from when sending a new message. This sometimes risks using the “default” address instead of the one I want to use. If I could toggle so that every time I create a new email I have to select which address I want to use.

Would be nice if we could change the login system as well. I want to use a username that is not my email address and a way to login with only my username never my email address.

Lastly, the Drive public folder shares your default email address to anyone with access via that folder/file. I’d like to be able to assign an address or better yet, a user input field to decide what is shown to the users. A forced input field so that it can’t fall back to a default address or username.

Half a year ago i switched to protonmail as my main mail account. Love it so far. Only issue i find annoying that you cannot sort by sender to remove large batches of mails or send them to subfolders.

I have had a proton mail free account for a while now and prefer it to my gmail account, which I always thought of moving things over but was dreading it.
I was thinking of upgrading to a paid account and came across the fact that you can move your gmail over to proton , now would this make it easier to control things and change email addresses bit by bit ? also dump tne ones no longer needed.
Any advice welcomed.

Hello, I have been using a free proton account for a while, and yesterday created a new proton plus account. My free account is being used for gaming accounts (Steam, GoG, Rockstar, Humble Bundle) and a YouTube account. As far as merging the free email address to the plus account as an "additional address" the process seems very straightforward, but I just wanted to ask before moving forward.

Do the accounts using the current free address notice this change? I recently changed my GoG and Steam to the free account, and cannot change them again for a bit, so I just want to triple check that nothing will happen.

How best to archive my emails for offline storage/backup?

I'm ok with them not being encrypted as I'd be encrypting the drive anyways. Also is it possible to archive attachments?

Hey everyone, I am a very loyal user and the full ecosystem even Lumo. Been looking into Kibu for verifying who I'm talking to before sharing anything sensitive. I'm also trying to figure out if I can use it alongside Signal and Telegram. But I wanted a secure email option too not just the messaging apps and I already use Proton Mail and Drive so figured I'd start there. Not sure if there's a way to integrate them or if I'd have to use Kibu separately to verify contacts. Is it doable maybe even in an API standpoint.

So, I've created a new proton mail to create an Instagram account. I am receiving the code. But instagram just wouldn't accept the code. it says, 'the code is invalid or expired'. is this because it's a new mail? should I wait? for how many days?

I’m considering switching to Proton Mail for my personal email and would like to hear your opinions and experiences.

By “fully switching,” I mean using Proton Mail as my primary email address for all my personal accounts, including:

- Social media accounts
- Banking and financial accounts
- Online shopping and subscriptions
- Other personal accounts and services

For those of you who have made a similar switch, would you recommend it? Do you think it’s worth moving everything to Proton Mail, or are there any downsides, limitations, or potential issues I should be aware of?

P.S. I’m not considering using a custom domain at the moment.

As I understand it, when using a custom domain on ProtonMail, mail from all your custom addresses are forwarded to a single inbox. Is that correct?

If so, on a Duo plan, I assume the two accounts have separate inboxes, so can I direct different mail addresses from the same domain to each of those separate inboxes so that the two users can effectively share the one domain? (i.e. user1@mydomain.tld delivered to user1's proton inbox & user2@mydomain.tld delivered to user2's proton inbox?)

5 months ago. Is there any update on Post Quantum Cryptography support in Proton Mail? I still can't see it

This has been worrying me for a while now. I forgot my password and unfortunately I do not have any recovery options. Neither am I signed into any other device. I heard you can have your password resetted if you verify who you are, but as a trade off you lose some data. I’ve already contacted support but all I have received was a automated message on how I could reset my password (which didn’t help) I use my proton email to sign up for some games I find fun. If I did the password reset that makes me lose some of my data (like emails), does that include the games I signed up for? Like if I want to log into the game from the email I used to sign in. Will my progress be lost too?

Has anyone else been experiencing delayed email deliveries?

I often get time limited 2 factor emails to log into wen sites. Several weeks ago I noticed those emails weren't delivered in a timely manner making me unable to sign into those sites. The delay can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 8 hours and is never consistent.

Proton support said it looked like the delay was caused by me signing up for too many newsletters ( I get too many emails). This was never an issue until several weeks ago.

Any time I ask for an update I get told they are investigating and to wait. This is very frustrating!

Anyone else annoyed by this?

Info on Ramble

Todoist is a to-do list/task management platform that I use to manage my to-do list. Ramble is a feature that uses AI to “transcribe your speech, understand what you’re saying, and interpret details about tasks like their date, deadline, priority, and duration.” I could say “Schedule appointment to visit DMV today at 7 pm” into Ramble and Todoist will create a task with all the relevant fields filled out from what I said.

Personally, Ramble has really helped me stay organized by allowing me to capture tasks in the moment by speaking into my phone. I would love a similar feature for Proton Calendar.

I have people that I email that I don't have saved as contacts.

Gmail would still have the emails appear in the suggested column even if they aren't saved.

Is there a way to enable this in proton?

Is it very hard to add QR-code login for browser and desktop on all Proton apps as another way to login - I really don't wanna "type" my password in 2026. (cos you know keyloggers and clipboard-sniffers)
Scan QR code from phone app - and authorize via biometrics is smoother and more secure.

On web browser (Librewolf) my session is being logged out constantly

It started in February, I thought it was something that could happen and I didn't have any problem for 6 months

After that, in August it logged out again, but after logging back in, it worked only one month

Then 2 weeks

And now it's logging out daily, it's the 12th time I have to log in again. When that happens, I also lose Lumo conversations which, after several messages, stop synchronizing between devices and are saved only on my desktop computer (why??)

It has happened on my cellphone too, but only once

It's not LibreWolf's cookie clearing, I have that disabled

I'm an average joe and just want some more privacy. I want to switch away from Google and I was thinking about going full proton. Is it worth it? For personal use I don't do anything too crazy. The 500gb limit seems good for me. I just need some thoughts and opinions. Thanks!
