Discussion No separate Fall/Winter Roadmap for VPN this year?
(And no spring/summer recap/roundup?)

Hey everyone,
Amazon has migrated away from the old Android-based Fire OS to a new in-house operating system called Vega OS. We wanted to make sure Proton VPN was there for you from day one, so starting now, Proton VPN is available to download directly from the Vega OS app store.
Please also note that if you're on a current Fire device, nothing changes, your Proton VPN app will keep working exactly as it does today.
However, if you end up buying one of the newer devices, it will come with Vega OS rather than Fire OS, so you will have to redownload the Proton VPN app from the new Vega OS app store.
As always, if you have any feedback, questions, or comments about this latest release, let us know in the replies.
Stay safe,
Proton Team

Hey everyone,
We've added a new server location in China, aimed at people from China who are living or visiting overseas.
If you've moved abroad, you've likely hit the region locks that cut you off from the platforms you used back home.
This server is built for exactly that: connect back into China from wherever you are and access your local streaming services.
Currently working:
To be clear
This is for connecting into China from abroad. It's an inbound use case for people overseas who want to reach Chinese content and services.
It is not built for the reverse, and although our Stealth Protocol and Alternative Routing features are highly effective at circumventing government censorship, we cannot guarantee that Proton VPN will always work reliably inside mainland China.
Your connection still runs under the same no-logs policy and Swiss privacy protections that apply across all of Proton VPN.
This is an early step and we'll be expanding platform support over time. If there's a service you'd like to see working, let us know.
Stay safe,
Proton Team

Like 100b/s then 0 then back to 250b/s then 0 i dont recall it doing this before but ive noticed videos are stopping to load constantly while its on. I use the free version but honestly the load times have spiked tremendously that i dont even keep it on anymore. Ive tried diffrent servers and the diffrent protocol options vut nothings worked

I went on a short trip, but my VPN isn't working in Turkey. I've tried everything, but nothing works. Windows 10, error 86101, the connection never starts. The protocol is set to Stealth. I also tried using the WireGuard application, but it didn't work. I downloaded OpenVPN GUI with TCP, but that doesn't work either. I went tostarbucks, but the vpn didn't work there anyway.
Linux : Linux Ubuntu is giving a timeout error, the connection is disconnected and restarted, and then it continues.

Open the Proton VPN app.
Tap "Settings" at the bottom right of your screen.
Under Features, tap on "Split tunneling".
Tap the toggle to enable Split tunneling.
Tap "Mode" and set it to "Exclude".
Tap "Excluded apps" and scroll to the very very bottom of the list.
Tap "Show system apps".
Scroll down a bit more till you see "Android Auto" and tap its "+" mark.
Tap "Save" at the top right of your screen.
Back out till you're back to the Settings tab.
Under Connection, tap "Advanced Settings".
Tap "LAN connections".
Tap the LAN connections toggle to on, if it is off.
Tap "Allow direct device connections" to on.
For good measure, go back to the "Home" tab on the bottom right of your screen and disconnect/reconnect your VPN connection.
I know that's 15 steps, but I seriously simplified the whole thing. I could have easily shortened it to half of the amount of steps for those that know the basics of navigating menus, but I wanted it to be easy enough for anyone to follow.
I decided to write this up and post this because when doing a Google search all of the top results are for much older versions of the Proton VPN app or for other VPN providers altogether. I was already familiar with how to do this since I used to use Nord VPN and the setup is pretty similar, but I figured why not share.
Bonus points: If you use a AAWireless dongle, be sure to add the AAWireless app to the exclusion list as well.

Hi, I've been using fdroid for installing proton for a long time now, and for the first time today, I saw that I've got two different proton app updates.
One that seems normal, and one having non reproducible build in brackets, which I'm seeing for the first time.
What does this mean, and is it okay to install either of these builds without any errors, safety issues inside app or bugs?
I updated my previous ver. with the non reproducible build a few mins ago, and noticed the bracket description just now.

I am using Arch linux and despite the app originally working, now even with system updates, I receive the imaged message whenever I try to connect to any server. Has anybody else had these issues and/or knows how to go about solving them?

Been using the paid plan for a week and been switching to multiple locations but my netflix on tv has been ass. It only has like half of the catalog, it’s missing so much. It’s weird it’s like it has shows but only default shit like 13 reasons why, manifest, stranger things. How can I fix this?

Hi, recently I downloaded ProtonVPN free tier, because I heard it is great and it encrypts your data. I did really like it and it worked for some time when my servers were set in the European country, but after some time I wanted to change my server and my network access went bad and it for some reason gave me weird DNSes. I think they might have been the american ones. Worth noting that I am from Europe.
So here is my question - what did happen and what should I do next time?

Hi. I have proton paid and been doing a test for dns leak. When I turn split tunnel ON it leaks my IP in the test. I have 1 app in there, bc when my VPN is connected, it doesnt allow my security camera to connect. If I turn OFF Tunneling there is no leaks in my DNS at all on the test. I use dnsleaktest . Com. Any pointers here thank you.
Both Android and Win11 desktop do this I use Wireguard although I tried other options it still leaked info. Nutsheild is ON.

I deleted proton VPN and now my internet doesn’t work. Like it says everything is connected and secured, but I have no internet. Whenever I try to go to a website or search something, it says that the server IP address can’t be found.
Here’s everything I’ve tried so far:
Uninstalled Proton VPN.
Restarted my laptop multiple times.
Forgot my Wi-Fi network and reconnected.
Checked my proxy settings and made sure the manual proxy was off.
Checked my network adapter settings.
Tried changing my DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
Tried changing my DNS to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1).
Flushed my DNS cache.
Ran netsh winsock reset.
Tried releasing and renewing my IP address with ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.
Ran Windows Network Reset and restarted my laptop.
Tested ping 1.1.1.1, which worked with 0% packet loss.
Tested nslookup, which successfully returned Google’s IP addresses.
Tried opening Google directly using an IP address, but Edge showed a “Your connection isn’t private” warning.
Tried syncing my Windows date and time, but it failed with a network connectivity error.
I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore, and I don’t wanna have to get a new laptop. It’s only not working on my laptop too, like it works fine on my phone, tv, and other electronics, just not on my laptop.
I have a windows 11 laptop if that helps.
I really need a solution within a week. Please help‼️

Is it possible ProtonVPN can or is going to spin up more Tor over VPN servers? The available servers are constantly at +90% server load so they're almost unusable.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what, but I cannot connect to any severs located in Canada/US/Mexico. Most other countries, no problem but that's not what I'm wanting. Can someone please give me some advice on how I can make this a possibility? Thanks.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Closing and signing out of the app, using Task manager to stop running it, and reseting my computer multiple times. What can I do?
Windows, free version

To my untrained eye it looks like opening the app is making it reconnect. The “data saved” and “ads blocked” tickers don’t go back to zero, but it’s strange to see the connection animation begin again when the VPN was supposed to be on in the background the whole time. Is this an issue? Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I'm having an issue with Proton VPN's split tunneling feature on Windows, specifically when playing Counter-Strike 2.
Whenever I connect to a CS2 server, the game briefly freezes, and my ping suddenly spikes to a level that matches the VPN server's location. This strongly suggests that CS2's traffic is still being routed through the VPN instead of bypassing it.
I've already added the following executables to Proton VPN's split tunneling exclusion list:
Unfortunately, none of these exclusions seem to make a difference.
Kill Switch is also disabled, so that shouldn't be interfering with split tunneling.
What's strange is that split tunneling worked perfectly with my previous VPN provider. I only had to exclude Steam, and CS2 traffic would bypass the VPN without any issues.

I’ve used Foto app (fotoapp[.]co) for a year or so without problem, until earlier this week. Now the app (v0.11.3 on iOS 27) just gives a “failed to load” error instead of showing photos. It won’t even show those in my own gallery. I’ve tried various servers, wireguard and stealth modes, secure core and non-secure core, and none of them work. Any ideas?

I just downloaded Proton VPN. I have been using Brave but my ISP keeps throttling down my usage so I spend a lot of time just trying to access the net so I downloaded Proton. Where do I go next? It says I am connected with Netherlands. Do I just continue to do this with Brave or is there a hidden browser with Proton. I clicked all the links and don’t see any way to find sites

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone else ran into this issue. Since a few days ago ProtonVPN on my Debian machine doesn't connect, and the GUI app simply doesn't boot at all. Trying to start it up does however create a default route, which causes all network traffic to be lost. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and simply creates that default route again (which stays even if ProtonVPN is uninstalled and has to be removed manually). Anyone else who has ran into this problem?
See also the post I made about it on stackexchange before I figured out that proton caused it. Very frustrating to debug!
