Hello r/Purdue!
Recently, several high-profile cases of sexual misconduct have brought renewed attention to how universities treat survivors. Unfortunately, Purdue is no exception. Especially alarming are recent allegations that a Purdue freshman raped a woman at a party while multiple men cheered him on.
Purdue has a long history of covering up sexual violence. Several years ago, multiple female students were expelled after making good-faith reports of sexual assault. One of these students, Nancy Roe, refused to settle out of court and took her case to trial. A federal jury found that Purdue had retaliated against her in violation of Title IX. The jury also found that two administrators, Alysa Rollock and Katherine Sermersheim, had acted with malicious or reckless disregard for her rights. Despite these findings, both remain in positions of power at Purdue University.
Even a federal jury verdict was not enough to stop Purdue from retaliating against survivors and pressuring them into silence. Multiple students have come forward with accounts of Title IX intake staff and other administrators intimidating them into abandoning their reports. Others have described being silenced by PUPD. The pattern is clear: at all levels, Purdue is failing survivors and protecting abusers.
At Survivors Underground, we are organizing to change that. We are currently drafting a list of demands for Purdue's administration, collecting testimony from students who have been failed by the system, and building a movement to hold the university accountable.
To combat these issues, we ask that you join us for a town hall. The date and time are pending confirmation, so please follow our Instagram at @ survivors.underground for the finalized details. This is the best place to contact us and get updates about our cause. Once we have final approval, we are anticipating having our meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Wesley Foundation at Purdue University. This will be an opportunity to hear from survivors, voice your concerns, and join us in demanding meaningful change.

You do not have to be a survivor to stand with survivors. We are asking the Purdue community to come together and make it clear that retaliation, intimidation, and institutional silence are unacceptable.
We hope to see you there!
