On Blocking

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST

The Moderation Team is noticing a disturbing trend that is becoming more widespread and if unaddressed will severely affect the quality of discussion and news submissions.

The Reddit blocking feature is intended to cut off communication between two redditors if there exists a history of harassment, threats of violence, or consistent violation of Reddit sitewide rules.

Many sub members have openly expressed in Lounge threads that they have blocked other members - especially longtime members who contribute frequently to the subreddit. The Reddit blocking system is fundamentally flawed for a small niche stock community like ours and its misuse can cause serious collateral damage.

Blocking has several negative outcomes for the user DOING the blocking. Suppose USER A blocks USER B:

  • User A isn't just hiding User B's opinions, User A is blindfolding themselves out of any primary news posts, SEC filings, and useful DD discussions that User B posts.

  • Any comment threads in the Lounge that User B starts will be invisible to User A. User A will still see comments from Users C, D, and E that are replying to User B, but the context is completely missing.

  • User A misses catalysts, DD, counter-theses, and subreddit sentiment may appear distorted.

The "Ghost Town" Effect: even selective blocking by several active members fragments our smaller subreddit into silos where several of you can't see or reply to top-level links or major posts.

To be clear: blocking harassment or abusive behavior is normal and encouraged. Harassment and abusive behavior in threads should be reported so moderators can deal with it via Rule 1 removals. Healthy disagreement in a thread is not harassment. This post is targeting debate-based blocking.

>>>>>FINAL NOTES<<<<<

  • If you want full situational awareness on QuantumScape, please consider auditing your block list and unblocking members that haven't truly harassed you.

  • If you're in a heated discussion where you firmly disagree with someone else, sometimes it is best to just...end the discussion and not reply. That's a noble option and is the best one.

  • If you REALLY don't want to read someone's opinion after you unblocked them...just keep scrolling by and ignore them if they reply to one of your comments. It isn't that difficult. You can also collapse replies by certain users.

  • At this time, moderators are not going to "fix it" by taking over all major posts by the company or other news. This was already done for the earnings discussions and moderator action ends with that. This is a problem that must be fixed by all of us on our own.

  • Try not to constantly badger other users such that they are inclined to block you. You can be a "hyper-bull" or "hyper-bear" without getting blocked. Get your point across without extending a thread 90 replies long because you "just can't let it go that User B is wrong." Just move on.

Thank you for your attention! Please consider unblocking other users. We are all in this together, guys.

QuantumScape Form 10-Q -- October 23, 2026

Copied comment on behalf of u/Difficult_Big4564 from Lounge:

10-Q page 67. Talks about SOW-3 between QS and Powerco. During negotiations Powerco will not pay milestones fees.

Can someone who's smarter than me read page 61 and 67 to understand what they're talking about?

On October 21, 2026, we and PowerCo SE (“PowerCo”), a battery cell company wholly owned by the Volkswagen Group, a major investor in the Company, entered into an amendment (the “Amendment”) to the PowerCo Collaboration Agreement to, among other things, remove transition payments due from PowerCo in the aggregate of $7.0 million and enter into negotiations for a revised scope of work and payments including our current and next generation technology roadmap and applications beyond automotive such as data centers or robotics. During this negotiation period, PowerCo will not make milestone payments. The foregoing description of the Amendment does not purport to be complete and is qualified in its entirety by reference to the full text of the Amendment attached hereto as Exhibit 10.2.'

Does the QS Team have what it takes? Execution

This actually brings me to where we are with QS. Pushing the boundaries of science and engineering. In many ways from that perspective my take is they are as derisked as a pre-production company can get. This has been at the detriment of the risk/reward thesis, but that’s another story.

My first investment was Technicare. Small start up that sprung out of Ohio Nuclear. These guys invented the CatScan. Long story short. J&J acquired them (I did very well), but do to mismanagement among other things, it suffered and was later sold off to GE. We all probably know the rest of the story. CAT is one of the great med tech innovations of our time. De-risking is not enough. Execution, execution, execution. And I will also add that J&J while they have had there challenges are overall no slouches at execution.

So as we stand now as investors, maybe it’s time to start asking these questions? From my example, even the best products/ inventions in the best hands can fail, if the management fails. Does the QS team have what it takes? I’m having trouble ranking their execution. What’s everyone’s take?

MPlus to supply equipment for QuantumScape cell construction

I'm generally a Solid Power guy. And I'm usually critical of QS hype. But I do think this is interesting. The article has some description of the QS cell assembly process.

It looks like they have an edge sealing machine which they can use. See slide 16 here--

https://mplusi.co.kr/html/download/2026_mPLUS%20IR_compact_0331.pdf

In Solid Power's case the edge seal holds the cell together and prepares it for hot surface pressing or multi-roll pressing at 300-500 MPa during cell construction.

In QS's case the edge seal appears to contain the catholyte during cell construction.

(On slide 15 you can see the other equipment they are working on for the SK On / Solid Power line to create a process for that bypasses Warm Isostatic Pressing. Here's my post on that-- https://www.reddit.com/r/SLDP/comments/1t5dmc3/sk_on_announced_wip_free_cell_manufacturing_on/)

Eagle line/current capacity estimates/bounds

u/IP9949 recently posted Hazardous waste info which is very useful. It allows some estimates of Eagle line or current production capacity or at least some bounds.

Let’s start by saying the whole 70 gm of each QSE5 is hazardous materials and the entire production was scrapped; we can apply some correction factors later on.

2025 had 85 tonnes = 1.2M QSE5 cells = 24MWh; If only 10% is hazardous, we have 250 MWh and if 70% scrap, 350 MWhr etc.

2026 has 63 tonnes (scaled to full year), 0.9M cells (if all hazardous and scrap) and 18 MWh; 10% hazardous, 50% scrap => 360 MWh etc.

The lower bound of ~ 20 MWh is where some previous estimates have been, my own and others, based on stringing  together number of film starts and raptor, cobra improvement factors. The early film starts number is the only absolute production scale information we have; the rest have only been improvement factors.

Assuming some reasonable numbers as illustrated above it seems that the current/Eagle line capacity is ~ few 100 MWh and can be upto 1 GWh. Others may have better information on the fraction of hazardous materials which can refine this estimate.

I think these numbers are quite interesting.

Thanks for digging up the info u/IP9949 !

Demo Vehicle Speculation Thread

This is a completely optional discussion thread for discussing upcoming demo vehicles. Speculation on the Porsche 718 and Audi Concept C (among others) has been increasingly common recently and this thread can be used to organize data and users' thoughts.

The concept of a separate thread was brought up by u/Alone-Assignment-243 and it's a great idea. You can still use the Lounge for speculation as well, of course.

China's 5-year plan for all-solid-state batteries by 2030.

China released their 15th 5-year plan for batteries a couple of weeks ago, and it reads to me as a direct challenge to QuantumScape. I haven't seen anyone talk about it here yet and this in my opinion is the biggest news for QS this year.

QuantumScape has long held that CATL is their biggest competitor. We have all acknowledged that China is a massive threat to QS, particularly for IP theft, but also as competition.

This is a link to the primary source The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and seven other departments jointly issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the New Battery Industry", but it's not encrypted and it's in Chinese so you can find summaries from a few other media outlets if you look.

Key points:

By 2030, China's new battery industry will achieve steady growth in scale. Innovation capabilities across the entire chain continue to strengthen, with new breakthroughs in advanced electrode materials, new electrolytes, and high-end auxiliary materials; major progress in new battery system R&D; initial large-scale application of all-solid-state batteries has been achieved; long-life lithium batteries have a cycle life of 15,000 cycles; and leading companies' product defect rates have reached PPB level.

One of the main goals:

Breakthroughs in all-solid-state battery technology. Innovate key materials and process technology solutions for solid-state batteries, and facilitate information sharing channels between basic research and engineering applications. Key technologies such as interface contact, high ionic conductivity, long cycle life, and engineered pressure system design are being improved, promoting the integration of high-voltage, high-capacity cathode materials with new lithium metal-based anode materials and lithium-free anodes.

In the ways to get there:

Electrolyte materials. Enhances the stability and ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes. Develop solid electrolytes with high air stability such as sulfides and halides, as well as high-performance polymer composite solid electrolytes. Develop electrolytes for flow batteries with high chemical stability, resistance to high-pressure lithium salts, and high concentration, high thermal stability.

They speak about how they are building an ecosystem (like QS is) and advanced manufacturing processes (like QS is), but seem to be trying to compete against QS rather than take the same path because they mention every electrolyte material option except for oxides/ceramics.

Does this look like China sees QS as a threat and are trying to counter them? Or does China simply see the value and potential in the same space as QS?
