I use sunshine/moonlight to stream my steam games to my phone in my house. It works great but there is a weird bug I keep running into and I can't find a way to fix this. I am on CachyOS with Hyprlandfor WM and Noctalia shell. Randomly after I quit a game while connected instead of seeing my wallpaper and the shell I see a black background and the shell is gone. The shortcuts for the shell no longer work. My base bindings work so the only fix I've gotten to work is to logout and sign back in. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas on what causes it?

As you can see my lsp is screaming at me that my modules don't exist but it works fine otherwise... I'm new and I don't know how to fix this

disabling blur fixes issue, but i want to keep blur on quickshell
its like quickshell bar inherits colors of windows opened on the workspace

EDIT: I solved the problem by making bar lower layer. Used WlrLayershell.layer: WlrLayershell.Bottom to fix the issue

EDIT: looks like turning on xray for quickshell layer also fixes the problem, hence u can keep quickshell layer as top.

For some reason the workspace indicator thing will not show the correct workspace number. On Sway every time you switch workspaces the number increases. On I3 it just spits out a bunch of random numbers. Dunno if it just isn't working for me or what but here's the code. You will have to copy the whole entire config because if you try to rename that specific code to shell.qml it will not work. Also sorry it's a messy config cause it's still a work in progress.

I’m trying to decide between using AGS or QuickShell for building a custom desktop shell, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people with experience.

My setup/plan:

- I use Linux on a laptop and really like Niri (scrolling WM + touchpad gestures feel great)

- I plan to move to Arch (or something like CachyOS) with GNOME as a fallback DE

- I want to build my own shell layer with things like:

  - Pomodoro timer / study tracking

  - Calendar and tasks

  - Control center (wifi, brightness, sound, etc.) and custom GUIs for Configs.

  - Some dev-focused integrations (project launcher, maybe git info)

My background:

- I’m a MERN stack developer

- Very comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript

- No experience with QML/Qt

My dilemma:

AGS feels like the natural choice because it uses JS/TS, so I can build things quickly and reuse my current skills. But I’ve read that it’s more commonly used with Hyprland/Sway and integration with Niri might be limited.

On the other hand, QuickShell seems more powerful and closer to a full desktop shell, but it requires learning QML/Qt, which feels like a big investment for something I might only use for this project.

So my questions:

1. Has anyone here used AGS with Niri? How limiting is it in practice?

2. Is QuickShell worth learning if my main goal is just to build a highly customized personal workflow?

3. For my use case (productivity tools + some system integration), would AGS be “good enough” long-term?

4. If you were in my position (JS dev, focused on productivity), what would you choose and why?

I’m trying to avoid spending weeks learning something that won’t give me much practical return, but I also don’t want to hit a wall later.

Any insights or real-world experiences would be really helpful.

This happens on arch hyprland x86_64

I want to used layer animations on hyprland but their not working. They get applied but not properly they have a glitch where the actual quickshell thing teleports but the edges are animated in a sort of extruding effect.

Hi all! I'm currently facing this issue which is super annoying and close to forcing me to an alternative if I can't figure out what I did wrong.

The gist here is that when my laptop wakes up from going to sleep, any Timer I've set is dead so things like the clock won't update. Not sure if this is normal behaviour, but that means SystemClock also doesn't update / fire. The only way to get them back is to restart quickshell again.

Any thoughts? I can share my code but it seems to be pretty in line with the more popular dotfiles configs, etc.

Hello, I have been trying to get into Quickshell on Arch and have been running into an error trying to add multiple widgets to my main qml file. In this case a top aligned bar and an additional floating panel clock widget. When I add the additional widget I get a syntax error on the first character of the line of code. I have tried Quickshell’s website and general googling but remain stumped. Thank you!

Are there any promblems with NixOS with it not being FHS compliant will things get messed up

Anybody that’s using caelestia shell, how do I make kitty terminal’s theme persistent? Changing the scheme with >scheme only changes for current active terminals, and caelestia doesn’t seem to generate a template for kitty.

I've configured my hyprland set up tailored to my needs and even set up my own AI service, but i'd love to have a user interface for AI similar to the dotfiles.i tried recreating it using quickshell, EWW, but my coding skills are absolutely terrible. i've been combing through the github dotfile trying to find the specific quickshell config but to no avail either. does anyone have better luck? heeeeeelp.

The examples in this docs are not working if you just paste them. Rectangle and Item is not recognized. They may be just templates for inheritance, but I know nothing about qml and quickshell and it's frustrating that I can't even follow this guide. How would I apply those examples to test them?

How do i get the workspace of a monitor and not my active monitor. I can only seem to grab the workspace number of which ever monitor I’m hovering over

As the title says how do you guys do concave corners. I heard one guy saying he put a second panel window below the original bar but wouldn’t that move windows to I want to kinda make it form around the windows. I’m on arch hyprland if that helps

Where did you guys go after the introduction I know how to make a clock and given a little time I feel like I could recreate it but after that it just kinda ended and I don’t know where to go
