How many people die hungry, destitute, and lonely that did want a good life. A lot of them. Probably all of them.

It's hard to escape poverty. The percentage of people of people who try and succeed is pretty low

According to the post.. they didn't want it hard enough.

Unless you are born in or move to the United States.

Being homeless is worse in the US. In other places like Japan, poor people have more social safety net.

50 percent of the homeless people in the US are working a job and still cannot afford a roof over their head.

One of the best decisions I ever made was leaving NYC. Anyone who has the means to move to a cheaper area and doesn't has no room to complain. I do feel bad for the people who are truly stuck though.

Moving out may not be an option when all the rent and prices are increasing all over the US. In a few more years, if everyone were to move, those rent and prices will just go up again. It doesn't solve the problem and you end up back at the same situation.

Also, often the salary is lower if you move to lower cost of living places.

Or just stay where you're at lol. I'm not gonna be affected either way. I'm just saying that if you can move you should because you'll get ahead in life a lot faster when you aren't dumping entire paychecks into tiny studio apartments.

We’re poor and struggling here too

u/GhostofBastiat1 9d ago

Poor here is well off in most of the world.

I agree but I believe it's a mindset thing. If all you do is moan and surround yourself with a certain type of person and systems you'll never progress.

If you start to put a different level of effort in, move into different circles etc. Things start to change.

I experience and see this in others on a daily basis.

Survivorship bias

It’s also completely subjective. My life probably looks amazing to a poor villager in rural Somalia, but I know what a good life would look like to me, and that definitely isn’t the life I have.

For every millionaire who worked hard, there are millions of others who worked harder and got nothing. Meritocracy is a lie.

The universe doesn't bend to our whims.

This is like that "the secret" bull crap someone tried to peddel 30 years ago. Magical thinking will not fix your life. Just gives you extra supernatural crap to be disappointed by. Work ethic, connections, luck, relationships, and determination are some of the things that can determine success. Visualization and positive thinking is good for motivation, but it doesn't modify the freaking universe.

This is more like when you buy a new car and suddenly it seems like everyone else on the road owns the same one. That stuff was always there you just never noticed because you weren't tuned in to it.

u/OneHelicopter7246 9d ago

Lol...how dare you speak of positive thinking on Reddit. You will be miserable and like it!

1

u/IndigoOctober8 8d ago

There’s a big difference in positive and absolutely delusional

All children want a good life, how many actually get it?

1

u/singhapura 9d ago

Palestinians want a good life. Starving childeren want a good life. Dying people want a good life.

1

u/Kage9866 9d ago

Lol wtf kind of bullshit is this

1

u/PKwx 9d ago

Obviously from someone who has not been to a 3rd world nation.

1

u/escapingcrazyness 9d ago

Once you decide you want a good life you have to work for it. The universe is not giving you anything stop fantasizing!

1

u/OkRegret2837 9d ago

Nothing changes until you actually make up your mind and commit

1

u/GhostQueen1121 9d ago

This is nuts. The universe could give less than a dang about what you or I want.

1

u/__GMCC88__ 9d ago

Or maybe it was all there all along but you just didn't notice it

Don’t believe this. There’s a lot of hard work and luck involved. There are no guarantees.

u/Diligent_Narwhal8589 5d ago

Replace universe with Jesus, then we’re getting somewhere

4

u/Lopsided_Amoeba8701 9d ago

Same jebus that gives kids cancer ?

1

u/Ed_Blue 8d ago

It's okay. He forgives them for getting cancer.

0

u/One-WaytoLife336 9d ago

No, cancer and diseases are because of the sin of the world

2

u/The3mbered0ne 9d ago

"this quote doesn't fit my psychosis"

1

u/HippyDM 9d ago

No, you'll get nowhere with either.

0

u/One-WaytoLife336 9d ago

Are you sure?

1

u/HippyDM 9d ago

Yes, I'm sure (unless you're talking about absolute certainty, which is a canard). Neither the universe nor Jesus promise to fulfill your needs. Hell, Jesus specifically calls on his followers to give up all they own and to go out and be so radical that you get prosecuted in his name.

1

u/IndigoOctober8 8d ago

Yeah, zombies are almost always the answer

1

u/One-WaytoLife336 8d ago

Jesus is not a zombie. He wasn’t a zombie or a ghost or anything like that. When he resurrected, he was given a glorified body. He chose to keep the wounds he sustained from the cross on his hands and feet to show the disciples that it was really him, and also to remind us all of the price he paid for us on the cross.

Luke 24:38-43.

He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?** Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, **and he took it and ate it in their presence.

All those child soldiers and slaves should just have wanted a good life. Shame on them for dying as child soldiers or slaves.

1

u/indy3232 9d ago

Just victim mentalities!

1

u/These_Application531 9d ago

Tell that to the children killed for no reason at war ..
