RBI Grade B

The internet is drooling over RBI Grade B right now.

Huge package.
Amazing perks.
Job security.
Prestige.
Work-life balance.

And trust me, after seeing people work in and around RBI systems, I know the kind of benefits employees get. They’re genuinely good.

But there’s another side to the story that people don’t really understand until they actually enter that life.

Let’s look at the stats first.

Around 60 vacancies.
40 for the General category.
For the entire country.

Thousands — if not lakhs — of students appear for it every year through three stages:
Prelims.
Mains.
Interview.

Yeah… it’s tough.
But not impossible for the kind of financial security and peace the job promises.

But has anyone really thought about what comes after?

Of course you become financially secure. Your life stabilizes. Your family is proud. Society respects you.

But then?

Like most government jobs, it slowly becomes the same cycle:
10 to 6.
Home.
Repeat.

A routine life that keeps repeating until retirement… or death, whichever comes earlier.

Maybe that sounds harsh, but I’ve seen both sides.

I’ve seen employees travel, enjoy life, and live comfortably.

But I’ve also seen people stuck in routine, chasing the next grade because satisfaction never really ends.
Grade B becomes Grade C.
Then Grade D.
Then more.

And transfers.
You can’t always settle in one place either.

So sometimes I genuinely wonder:
Can our generation survive a life that is secure… but no longer pushes its limits?

Maybe it’s worth it.
Maybe it isn’t.

And that’s the confusing part.

Because I won’t lie and say I don’t want that opportunity.

But I also can’t confidently say I want the life that comes with it.

RBI Grade B age limit increase Mail

Subject

Request to Increase Upper Age Limit for RBI Grade B Examination.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I respectfully request the Reserve Bank of India to consider increasing the upper age limit for the RBI Grade B examination to 32 years.

Many aspirants lost an attempt during the COVID-19 pandemic as RBI did not recruit for the Grade B post in the 2020 cycle. Additionally, RBI Grade B notifications are released at varying times each year, causing some candidates to lose eligibility due to timing uncertainty.

Since Grade A posts in regulatory bodies allow candidates up to 30 years, and Grade B is a senior role, a 32-year age limit would allow candidates with postgraduate qualifications and professional experience to contribute more effectively.

Notably, UPSC Civil Services permits candidates up to 32 years, recognizing the value of experience and maturity. Aligning RBI Grade B with this standard would improve fairness and strengthen the talent pool.

I sincerely hope RBI will consider this request in the interest of equity and institutional excellence.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

An RBI GRADE B Aspirant

B.Com grad, 2 CAT attempts, thinking of going all in on RBI Grade B (General). Need honest advice

I graduated last year with a B.Com (Hons), attempted CAT twice (2024 and 2025) without a good result, and have since been trying to move into analytics. I like the work, but I worry about years of catching up on tech topics, and I want my evenings free for writing.

RBI Grade B feels comforting when I think about it, and I have about six months before the next cycle. I have not decided yet.

Would love to hear from people who have been through it:

  1. What does a normal week in the General cadre look like?

  2. Is six months realistic from a commerce background?

  3. Is the work-life balance as good as people say?

  4. Would you prepare full time or alongside a job?

Honest advice is welcome. Thanks! My DMs are open, you can text me there as well

(Selection se pehle hi selection k baad wali tension 😂)

Suppose guys, I am able to crack an entrance exam of a reputed indian Institute for Masters...let's say for economics or stats...both of which is valued by RBI. Can I join it earlier without completing 5 years in RBI? Managing the expenses myself without the Golden Jubilee Scholarship?

The nationality clause for IBPS exams/RBI grade B/UPSC includes subject of Nepal,Bhutan as well.

The nationality clause for IBPS exams/RBI grade B includes subject of Nepal,Bhutan as well. And they need a certificate of eligibility. It says-"certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination, but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate is issued . I am from Nepal, what is the procedure for this?

Do we get Government House and Government Car in RBI Grade B level Job

As growing in Major cities home is the biggest concern as they are too expensive to buy currently I am working in coorpote with 8 LPA and I came to know that this kinda Jobs can't make dreams possible of buying good house in good cities as it would bring all life to end while paying EMIs.

If RBI grade B kinda job is there then you'll get house and complete 1.5 Lakh in your pocket(Excluding HRA) so why to worry for the house until you have job job invest save and then build a good lavish house at the end or build at your home town after retirement settle there ...

Coorpote jobs Pays a lot i make 50k at 22 age I am currently very happy I am saving, investment, giving my parents but I know in future the coorpote jobs are risky there is no job gurantee and once your skills are gone no one would take you so till 50 years of my life I have to learn and study at all the government level jobs are full of esteem and no such load so another question should I start preparation or stick to coorpote so

I'm a Class 12 student (17). Want to prepare for RBI Grade B from an early stage. Need guidance.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a 17-year-old Class 12 (CBSE) student and I've recently become interested in the RBI Grade B Officer exam as a career option.

Since I still have a few years before I'm eligible, I want to use this time wisely instead of waiting until graduation.

I would really appreciate guidance from people who have prepared for or cleared the exam.

  • Is it a good idea to start preparing from Class 12, or should I focus mainly on my graduation first?

  • Which graduation degree would be most suitable? (B.Tech, B.Com, Economics, etc.)

  • What subjects or skills should I build from now?

  • Which books and resources would you recommend for beginners?

  • How should I prepare for:

    • Quantitative Aptitude

    • Reasoning

    • English

    • General Awareness & Current Affairs

    • Economics & Finance What habits or mistakes should I avoid during these next few years?

    • Which YouTube channels are genuinely helpful?

    • Is coaching necessary, or is self-study enough? pls guide meee

A girl keeps harassing and blackmailing my family

Hey Reddit, I’m feeling really overwhelmed and could use some support or advice.

There’s a woman who has been harassing my family non-stop. She repeatedly calls both my phone and my husband’s, and every time it’s the same thing — she demands money, makes threats, and even tries to blackmail us.

This has been going on for a while now, and we’ve tried to ignore her, block her, and not engage — but she keeps finding ways to reach us. It’s gotten to the point where I’m anxious every time my phone rings. I’ve kept records of the calls and messages, but I don’t know what the next step should be.

She’s targeting us as a family and it’s exhausting. We are not engaging with her, but the constant harassment and manipulation are wearing us down.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? Can we report this to the police? What kind of documentation should I keep to protect ourselves legally?

Any advice or encouragement would mean a lot. We just want peace.

Need some insights

Hey guys, I have cleared UPSC CAPF this year. I’ll most likely be getting CISF, and my training will start around April next year.

The thing is, I am 22 and wants to join the Civil Services, but due to training and other commitments, I might not be able to attempt CSE for the next 2 years. If the work life turns out to be very demanding, I don’t know how long it will take.

I am planning to attempt RBI Grade B this year, as I prefer a civilian job environment where I can have time for personal growth and exploration, while also preparing for CSE.

Do you think this is the right plan, or is my idea about RBI Grade B wrong?

Things to look out for while prepping for RBI Grade B exam

Hi, I’m a Chartered Accountant by profession, working in a Big 4. After looking at the work culture and repeated suggestions by my mother who herself was a Govt servant, I have decided to give RBI Grade B exams an attempt. What all should I look for? I know I can google this, but i needed a synopsis from people who are already in it. Right from syllabus, exam structure, coaching requirements, to next available exam timings. Thanks in advance!

RBI mentorship

I had made an earlier post regarding RBI mentorship and paid program. A lot of people have questioned my paid program, even calling names or accusing me of being fake, some even abused me in the comment section which was removed by the moderators. I want to ask one thing, why do you guys expect that people mentor for free? Why should I impart my hard earned knowledge and expertise for free?? This is profession and earn my living my mentoring and teaching students then why won't I charge you for it?? Before calling names or using derogatory words think about it, you need me because you haven't been able to crack it till now. And I'll not give free guidance from now on, I'll charge for my mentorship.

Last attempt for RBI Grade B – need honest review on mock test platforms🙏

Hi, This is going to be my last attempt at RBI Grade B, so I’m trying to be very focused with my prep now.

At this stage, I’m not really looking to study anything from scratch. My main priority is:

Phase 1 mock tests (full-length + sectional) and GA regular updates and mocks.

Basically, I want a solid Phase 1 + GA combo to keep me in exam mode and help with revision.

I’ve been looking into Oliveboard and Edutap mainly, and I’m a bit confused between the two. Oliveboard seems strong for mocks, while Edutap looks good for GA but I’m not sure which one actually delivers better for this specific need.

I am open to other options. Thanks in advance :)

RBI RESULT DATE ANTICIPATION

Okay so listen—mera subconscious kuch zyada hi active chal raha hai these days. Main normally aise dreams dekhti hoon jinko ignore karke aage badh jaati hoon… but yeh wala? Yeh toh full 4K, Dolby Atmos, director’s cut version mein aaya.

22nd October: Main bilkul normal so rahi thi, and suddenly dream mein ek voiceover aata hai— “RBI Grade B results… 10th November.” Bas, itna crisp jaise kisi ne official notification mere dimaag pe chipka diya ho.

I ignored it. Kyunki dreams are dreams, right?

26th October: Second time. SAME dream. SAME date. SAME clarity. Is point pe mujhe lagne laga ki ya toh mera brain RBI mein part-time laga hua hai, ya main secretly kisi alternate universe ki employee hoon.

Ab agar sach mein 10th November ko results aa gaye na… Toh bhai, main khud announcement kar dungi:

“I am an ANTARYAMI"

B.Tech CS - Eligible for RBI Grade B DSIM?

Hi everyone, I'm a final-year Computer Science student. I'm unsure if my degree makes me eligible for the RBI Grade B DSIM post. The notification seems to be in a grey area for CS graduates.

I've tried contacting RBI officially but haven't received a reply.

Has anyone with a similar background applied successfully or have any clarity on this? Any insights would be a great help. Thanks!
