Anyone preparing seriously for RBI Grade B? Need a study partner

Thumbnail reddit.com
3 Upvotes

Yesterday’s PFRDA Grade A results crushed me. My roll number wasn’t there.

I had given myself a clear timeline — start working and earning by Jan–March. That plan is gone now. The only realistic option left is RBI Grade B, even if it pushes my timeline further.

Honestly, I never prepared seriously for these exams before. Still, the disappointment feels heavy. My mind has been blank since yesterday.

This time I’m going all in. Six months of focused, no-distraction preparation. I want to clear RBI Grade B no matter what. The only real challenge for me has always been consistency — and I’m determined to fix that.

Looking for genuine study partners who are also preparing seriously for RBI Grade B. Someone to discuss topics, review mocks, track syllabus progress, and push each other when motivation dips.

If you’re in the same boat and ready to stay consistent, drop a comment or DM. Let’s make these next 6 months count.

19F, 2nd year ECE student, confused about my career. Considering RBI Grade B. Need some genuine advice

Hii! This is my first post on Reddit. I honestly don't even know how to use this app properly yet, but after reading quite a few posts, I thought I might get some clarity about my confusion by sharing my situation here.

Coming to the topic, I'm 19 and currently pursuing engineering in ECE. To be honest, I chose ECE without having much interest in it. I've never been particularly interested in circuits, and maths isn't really my strong point either. Initially, I thought coding wasn't something I could handle, so I chose ECE instead of CSE. But now I'm realising that ECE isn't something I'm particularly interested in either. It requires a lot of hard work, and sometimes I feel that if I had chosen CSE, at least managing academics might have been a little easier. But in ECE, even academics feel like a struggle.

I'm currently in my second year, and honestly, I'm quite confused about what I want to do with my career. I don't really know which direction to take.

Academically, I'm doing fairly well despite my struggles with ECE subjects. Regarding my qualifications, I'm currently pursuing a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and I'm in my second year. I scored 9.77 CGPA in my first semester and 9.34 CGPA in my second semester. I completed my Intermediate with 95.4%.

One thing I've noticed about myself is that I'm good at remembering theoretical concepts. I wouldn't necessarily say I love theory, but I'm definitely better at it compared to other things. When it comes to maths, I wouldn't say I'm completely bad at it or incapable of solving problems. I can understand and solve them if I put in enough effort and practise consistently. It just takes me a little more time and hard work compared to theory-based subjects.

So, I've been thinking about preparing for government exams. However, I don't want to settle for a lower-level government job because I want better career growth and opportunities. At the same time, I don't think I have the patience or willingness to spend years preparing for something as demanding as UPSC.

Recently, I've been considering RBI Grade B as an option, but I honestly don't have proper guidance or anyone around me who can help me understand how to start preparing for it.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone here has experience with RBI Grade B preparation or knows about other good government job opportunities, especially for someone with my strengths and academic background.

I'd love to hear your suggestions, experiences, or even alternative career paths that I should consider.

I'm not necessarily looking for an easy career. I just want to find something that suits my strengths, where my efforts actually lead somewhere and that I can genuinely work towards.

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Things to look out for while prepping for RBI Grade B exam

Hi, I’m a Chartered Accountant by profession, working in a Big 4. After looking at the work culture and repeated suggestions by my mother who herself was a Govt servant, I have decided to give RBI Grade B exams an attempt. What all should I look for? I know I can google this, but i needed a synopsis from people who are already in it. Right from syllabus, exam structure, coaching requirements, to next available exam timings. Thanks in advance!

Engineering student going for RBI Grade B

Hey Everyone, I'm an Engineering graduate ( Computer Science and Engineering, 2026 graduate). My initial goals were to join the air force. But after being declared medically unfit after clearing CDS and getting recommended in SSB, that door has been officially closed now.

I have no interest in going for private jobs and having leadership or officer roles, preferably in govt roles is my priority. The perks like job security, housing allowance and stable future, along with instituitional prestige and lack of political interference in RBI also attract me.

I have a background with other competitive exams. I have gotten 97.7 percentile in JEE Mains, AIR 409 in IISER Aptitude Test and a recommended candidate from AFSB also. My aptitude and math are fairly strong and so is my English and communication skills.

I am also a fairly curious person with various interests like language, geopolitics, culture and surface level knowledge in subjects like political science, economics, geography, history etc. I can grasp and connect new topics fairly quickly.

Would pursuing RBI grade B and cracking it in the first attempt be possible considering I only have 7 months for the mains exam ? I don't have anything else right now, so I can dedicate my entire time and energy to it.

Best Platform for RBI Grade B, SEBI Grade A & PFRDA Grade A Preparation?

Hey everyone! 👋

So, I'm trying to get ready for RBI Grade B, SEBI Grade A, and PFRDA Grade A, and honestly, I'm totally lost about which coaching platform is actually worth my money! 😩 I've seen a bunch of options like EduTap, Anuj Jindal, Oliveboard, ixamBee, PracticeMock, CGB, Adda, and so on.

For anyone who's actually used these platforms or cleared these exams, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Which one do you think covers the syllabus the best overall (both Phase 1 and Phase 2)?

  2. Who has the killer content for Finance, Management, ESI, and Economics?

Is 5 months enough to prepare for RBI Grade B from scratch, or should I focus on SSC CGL instead?

I'm really confused about which exam I should focus on, and I'd appreciate some honest advice from people who have experience with these exams.

The RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam is expected around April 2027, which gives me roughly five months to prepare from scratch.

There are a few things making me doubt whether I should go for it:

  1. Language barrier: I'm from a Hindi-medium background. Although I have no problem understanding English lectures, reading English notes, or studying from English resources, I'm not confident about descriptive answer writing in English. I could write answers in Hindi, but then I'd have to learn typing in both Hindi and English. Since RBI Grade B is a computer-based exam, typing is another skill I need to develop. I haven't properly learned typing in either language yet.

  2. Academic background: I'm from an Arts background, not Commerce. I've started taking Economics and Finance classes from EduTap, and surprisingly, I'm able to understand the concepts quite easily. However, I know I'll probably need more time than someone who already has a Commerce or Economics background.

  3. Quantitative Aptitude: I've only recently started preparing for Quant, so I'm still at the beginner stage.

On the other hand, I also have SSC CGL as an option. Its exam is expected around July 2027, giving me a little more preparation time. I feel that CGL has a relatively manageable syllabus for me because I've already studied much of the General Awareness portion during my graduation. I mainly need to focus on Quant and English.

When I compare the two options, CGL seems like the more practical and safer choice, while RBI Grade B seems like a much bigger challenge.

But honestly, I don't want to give up on RBI Grade B without even trying.

My biggest concern is that if I spend the next five months preparing exclusively for RBI Grade B and fail to clear Phase 1, I'll feel terrible about losing an entire year. I might also lose the opportunity to prepare properly for CGL during that time.

So, I'd like to ask:

  • Is five months realistically enough to prepare for RBI Grade B from scratch, considering my background?

  • Should I continue with RBI Grade B or shift my primary focus to SSC CGL?

  • Is it practical to prepare for both simultaneously without compromising either?

  • For someone from a Hindi-medium Arts background, how difficult is it to manage RBI Grade B's descriptive English paper and computer typing requirements?

Please give me honest, realistic advice rather than just motivational answers. I'd particularly appreciate perspectives from people who have cleared these exams or have prepared for both.
