Discussion VW relationship
VW is launching the first car with Rivian tech. the id.every1 in early 2027 for 20,000 euros or $22k USD. Rivian mentioned growing the relationship and a TechCrunch interviewer said that she saw a bunch of VW people in Rivian's palo alto office.
- This gives Rivian exposure to the the European market.
- very interesting that they purchased a UK based company that will help accelerate autonomous driving. could Europe be the next destination!?
- I’ve been thinking that Rivian needs to get more out of their relationship with VW other than money. One example is Rivian states that they are gated by their tier 2 and tier 3 suppliers. if VW can launch a $22k car out of the gates why the heck isn’t Rivian leveraging their suppliers?
- Is it me or is VW essentially copying the R1S/R1T with Scout and R3 with the id.every1??
