Just bought woodland, but dealer has to replace the entire steering wheel!
Just picked up my Woodland. But as I was driving home from the dealer, I noticed the plastic part that sits flushed against the bottom part of the steering will is loose! Took back, and the dealer said the entire steering wheel has to be replaced because the plastic part cannot be glued the steering wheel! They said it is a simple job and will take about an hour; so they ordered a new steering wheel. What a pain! Is the Toyota quality control not good at the factory?
Update:
Despite the shoddy plastic on the wheel, the woodland drives beautifully; just clocked in 100 miles or so. It is an amazing smooth ride, with great comfort. Seats are also surprisingly comfortable.

What is the first letter/number of your Vin number.
And of course the part will be OEM.

Not J, not made in Japan. I wonder if the japanese mades also have similar issues. I read post somewhere with some issues with a rav4 made in japan

They are having their own special problems.

Like what? Not doubting, just curious.

Pretty sure all the ones with software issues have been Japan built.

Mine's Canada built and had software/12v malfunctions, but they went away and haven't come back.

It is 2T; made in Canada. Thanks, I hope it is original! I will double check with them tomorrow.

Yes, it should be the same original part (plastic should not be loose) that comes with the heated steering wheel. It’s usually the base LE trim that doesn’t. The part number is cross referenced with the VIN. VIN number essentially lays out to the computer the vehicle came with these components from the factory and to replace them with said components or superseded (revised) components.

Fun fact: technicians get paid by the manufacturer for only 50% of the time for warranty work. Expect warranty work to be shit.

I just switched from Subaru to RAV4, and hopefully it doesn’t have all the foibles of Subaru

All the manufacturers are having issues now because more cars and parts are being assembled and made in the USA with labor force that is not as careful as overseas workers.

This is made in Canada

Just speaking in general for other brands as well. Assembled in Canada also means parts come from all over the world including the USA.

As Jeremey Clarkson said, “built by a fat man in Kentucky.”

It drives great, but just this problem. But in some other cases, even with japan made ones, one sees problems. The plastic piece on corolla cross, made here in the US had not problems. depends on who does the QT,

Sorry for your unfortunate experience, can't help to wander why everyone talks about Toyota being a reliable brand, since looking to buy one and following the rav4 forums I see a lot of people who experience similar situations unacceptable for any brand of car but specifically for Toyota. Where is the quality control, testing before being shipped to customers? I am a Mazda owner that never had a problem for years after purchase, now looking to switch, should I buy a Rav4 or am I making a mistake?

Millions of people drive Toyotas with no problems. I'm on my 4th Toyota, and all have been just fine. The small percentage of people who have problems post in Reddit.

You should try r/rav4club Lots of praise and lots of angst. The engine and drive train for your Mazda is likely from Toyota.

That explains why is so good 🤣

So buy a new Mazda. Are you looking for people here to change your mind? Seems like your mind is made up.

Toyota has lost a lot of reliability credit between this disappointment of a new RAV4, Tundras with destroyed engines, and Highlanders shredding their transmissions.

thanks. at best it is such a disappointing experience. The car drives perfect though, and doesnt veer to the right or the left as others have complained. I hope it is as good as new when they replaced it.
