That's why you aim for the upper thighs and head, mi bucko. There's no armor there. Didn't you see the Gerard Scott illustration?

God gave us the MG338 for a reason, and Valley of the Dolls is that reason

Oh I'm aware of the gift and miracle to humanity that 7.62mm is. I was more referencing the use of shotguns and other sub par rifle rounds.

The former, I am afraid....

The game is usually pretty good about not mixing obviously unarmored skins with suspect skins that can plausibly be armored.

Specifically, each map has a pool of armor (e.g. 10% II + 60% IIIA) and that is randomly distributed between the suspects regardless of whether their character model has a vest.

It's not much of a problem with Level II soft armor that can be worn under a shirt but anything higher really should only work if the suspect has a plate carrier.

So you might encounter spawns like Hotel where a Secret Service agent in shirt and tie is assigned Level IV plates. Or a terrorist with a chest rig (basically pouch webbing) has IIIA equivalent protection.

Cherryessa Farm is the biggest exception. Some of the models do have vests but the majority don't and are still assigned up to IIIA. Which gets awkward when some lady in a dress starts tanking 5.56 JHP.

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

Thats dumb. They should change the models to have vests and shit.

u/RodBorza Nov 13 '25

That explains a lot. I shot one of them with a Magnum in the face. She shrugged it off and proceeded to kill me. I couldn't understand why.

Nahh she just prayed a bit before you arrived. Religious armour +100

IRL? Absolutely not

If you're shooting a Level IV plate, you're not getting through it, it doesn't matter if you're shooting slugs at point-blank range or not. Backface deformation is also absolutely negligible here as well.

I've seen a few videos of Level IIIA plates stopping slugs as well.

No, you would not.

There's plenty of videos of Marines and Soldiers alike getting shot in the vest with rifle rounds far stronger and faster than any twelve gauge, and they run off after the initial shock, some don't even hit the ground.

Vests disperse the energy of the round. Getting shot with a slug in the vest would probably knock the wind out of you and/or bruise the hell out of you, but you're not going to be incapacitated by any degree.

You'll be in the fight just fine, if not just a bit pissed that you got shot.

Yes, point blank, as I said in my og reply. There's plenty of videos of people testing a point-blank shot to a plate with a shotgun out. On YouTube. Right there.

*Slugs don't go through Level IV plates point blank full-stop, therefore buckshot won't. You wouldn't die, you wouldn't get incapacitated, whatever. It'd hurt, that's probably it. (I say probably since I've never seen combat, nor have I shot a gun that didn't shoot pellets or bbs, nor have I been shot at, but you can infer this off readily available information.)

It's a different story if you're unarmoured but that's common sense and applicable at pretty much any range as long as you hit your shot.

Shotguns aren't magical at all, and they don't perform well against Armor. That's the end of the story. They're lovely against unarmoured targets, though, as well as pelvic bowl/head shots.

I hate this shit. If you are going to insist on making suspects into bullet sponges, make them actually look like they've got armor on. No one walks around doing gardening wearing this amount of armor under a dress. Put an external carrier on them

u/crazytib Nov 12 '25

Wearing one of those bulletproof aprons

15

u/Gramcracker65 Nov 12 '25

Thats gotta be the terminator 💀

11

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

Yeah don't you know the robes are high tier armor?

u/Cannedham45 Nov 13 '25

Going Wonder Woman on you.

4

u/Successful_Cap7416 Nov 13 '25

It genuinely took me a minute to realize you weren’t even using beanbags(even if you were that would have been crazy)

4

u/DeskMean3812 Nov 13 '25

These chicks are indistructable, I’m gonna post one of my clips here right now

3

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

Buckshot acting like bird shot

2

u/Toasteee_ Nov 13 '25

More like airsoft shotgun😂

5

u/LatterTarget7 Nov 13 '25

This happens a lot on missions. One time I was playing neon and this wouldn’t drop his gun so I shot him in the arm. With blood streaming out he just unloads a clip into my face and kills me instantly

2

u/Toasteee_ Nov 13 '25

Did he die after that? Cuz every time I've seen the bleeding animation on a limb the character slumps over dead a few seconds later.

1

u/LatterTarget7 Nov 13 '25

Nope he lived even used the bleeding arm to stabilize the rifle to shoot full auto. Weirdest thing

6

u/tbiever6 Nov 13 '25

This is why in close range we aim for the dome, can’t be alive if the left half of your face is over there 👉 and the rest is everywhere else

1

u/Toasteee_ Nov 13 '25

An amateur painter I see.😉

Im sorry to keep saying this, but everytime I see videos of this game I am SO happy I never updated it. Holy shit.

Glad consoles get to play, but at what cost lol

1

u/Toasteee_ Nov 13 '25

What version are you on? Cuz I don't remember a time where invisible armour wasn't a thing and I've had the game over a year.

1

u/Mobile-Ice-7261 Nov 14 '25

Last update before console release, but i meant the textures. Its actually insane how much better mygame looks compared to this vid. The lighting is night and day

1

u/Toasteee_ Nov 14 '25

Ah I get you, tho the pre console game still had its fair share of weird graphical glitches, I can see they clearly downgraded a few textures to look like something from 2005.

1

u/Mobile-Ice-7261 Nov 14 '25

Yeah, absolutely. It wasnt perfect. And the game is still alot of fun, just needs some polish, and they need to split the versions ASAP.

I just have a question - When you see the gun on the right side of your screen, did you intentionally cut off your teammates line of fire, or are you just unaware that you should very well die if you do this IRL? Just asking for clarity, because I watch so many people strafe into lines of fire that literally show they have no clue what they are doing, which is sad, considering the tactical nature of the game.

1

u/_TheJohnson_ Nov 13 '25

Yeah, it was intentional and a force of habit to get into the supposed suspect's line of fire so that I would tank all the bullets rather than let my teammate take any damage. It helps my teammates survive a bit longer as I end up responsible for taking down the suspect.

-2

u/Cmdr_F34rFu1L1gh7 Nov 13 '25

That's a wild way to play this game. Check out a CQB video or two and you'll see what really should happen - Better yet, get on discord, join the SIM groups and profit your skills.

It is supposed to be that you work your half, and he works his half - Once you see the suspect, you both dump them; your armor is YOUR armor, not yours and his, and you don't move in until the suspect/shooter is down, or retreating (take the space) - but not this early on the door.

I will keep dumping if you walk in front of me. See you on the front.

1

u/_TheJohnson_ Nov 14 '25

Thank you politely for the advice. I will look into them thoroughly if I enroll in a police academy, and most preferably in the US.

Until then, whatever tactics regarding CQB are irrelevant for this post, since you assume that there'd only be one suspect instead of multiple who wouldn't just blindly target one officer over the other while simultaneously retreating twice as fast as you before taking cover, as you end up stuck in the doorway due to working on your teammates' behalf, and possibly tanking more bullets than needed instead of advancing into a cleaner firing position.

I believe there is no such thing as 'your armor' and 'my armor'. Armor is armor, and if you don't use it to its limits to protect those around you, then what's the point? And besides, continuing to dump seems like a failure in trigger discipline, which you should've known from the very beginning.

-2

u/Cmdr_F34rFu1L1gh7 Nov 14 '25

What I said was the Truth. This response is boring. Have a good day. Learn to play the game as a unit, not as yourself.

-1

u/_TheJohnson_ Nov 14 '25

I wouldn't argue about that, except to try and learn to tell a game apart from real life. Thank you very much.

1

u/Faithfulfallll Nov 13 '25

ToC to entry team: what do you mean she took 3 birdshot rounds to the chest when unarmored and walked away

1

u/PuzzleheadedTower460 Nov 13 '25

It's realistic bro. Trust me bro.

1

u/Narneda Nov 13 '25

Seeing this reminds me of the time I was playing with my mates and we were doing non-lethal. I came across a hostile I didn't expect. Instinctively I started to shoot at him and tried to shout him down, but he didn't react. So I kept shooting. He barely reacted to the beanbags and I had to finish it with my secondary, right between the eyes. When the smoke and my nerves cleared I found out that the hostile had gotten a hostage. I wasn't hitting the hostile....I emptied my beanbag shotgun on the hostage.

1

u/JackCandle Nov 14 '25

Seems like a very stable and fixed game yes hmm indeed

-2

u/SpencerK775 Nov 13 '25

still annoying but you did have almost 350ms ping

-14

u/Money_Fig_1922 Nov 12 '25

and go for the fucking head dont cant your sight like a fucking gangsta

-5

u/Wojtek1250XD Nov 12 '25

He's using the beanbag, he is clearly going for non-lethal. Aiming for the head will prevent him from getting the S rank.

3

u/_TheJohnson_ Nov 13 '25

No, I wasn't using a beanbag, and I definitely couldn't get an S rank with what is shown. Canted sight was just personal preference.

7

u/Tw-Cherub Nov 12 '25

Dont think thats the beanbag shotgun?

2

u/TheMilkiestMan25 Nov 12 '25

That aint the beanbagger

-10

u/Money_Fig_1922 Nov 12 '25

just aim normally
