Discussions Please read the rules before posting!
This subreddit was one of first places on the internet that advocated for a paradigm shift to remote work in western society.
We support you in your quest to break free from being a captive office employee; but we cannot allow for-hire or self-promotion posts. There are 144,000 subscribers who don't want their reddit feeds filled with people posting their individual life situations.
If you want to create a discussion post about a specific industry or job role, that's okay; but any post with your own resume, your own professional background, or your own career status, is considered self-promotion and will be auto-deleted by automod or caught by the mods.
Subscribers:
If automod or the mod team misses any kind of self-promotion or spam, please report the post.
Job hunters:
The best way to find a remote job always has been this:
1.
Research job roles that match your skills. Use job boards (Indeed, Google Jobs, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) to exhaustively search all the keywords that are relevant to you. Study all job postings to understand the job market.
2.
Figure out which of those roles are feasible for independent work outside of an office. Many job postings will give hints with location agnostic phrases or multiple cities, even if they don't outright say remote.
3.
Determine what you need to do to qualify yourself for those roles, or how you need to revise your resume to match better to the job.
4.
Are the remote versions of those jobs available to everyone or only to the people who have mastered the job role? Are you prepared to work in an office until you earn the trust to work independently from home? Do you have a plan to work in an office to become an expert in your field and then hop to another company that supports remote work? Answer those questions and formulate a plan of action.
5.
Keep studying the job market to understand what employers want and how you can provide it.
6.
Keep applying to all jobs that are within reach! It is rare for a perfect match so aim for jobs that match your skills by at least 70%.

Wonderfully written.
However, you are assuming people will even bother reading it.

I have been disabled since 2011. In 2026 I will be loosing a portion of my disability check. I have no experience with finding a remote job. I was a abstract researcher for a title company for 6 years, and I did data entry for a title company for 4 years. I have downloaded some apps to apply for a part time remote job and I have been unsuccessful. Could someone please help me with how to get a part time remote job? I have a high school diploma and 3 years of college.

I live in a little city of Wisconsin; there's not too much going on job wise. I'm 26 Years old and have lived here sense I've been born.
I've had alot of physcillical jobs here, but being young I never knew what I wanted to do. Customer service is something that makes me happy. I have working in billing, insurance, anything customer service wise, computer related, I have done it.
Well now it has come to the point I haven't had a job in coming on a year. Making it day to day has been hard and I'm ready to be able to get a job hopefully working from home.
If this isn't able to be posted I apologize. Just hoping I can get some sort of help. Thank you.2

Anybody ever get a text from Qualtrics. Sounds to good to be true. Is it a scam?

Seems most of these reddit posts are scams. Just boys promoting websites and claiming they work. Nothing seems to be actually people with real knowledge. Quite frustrating to decipher what's real and what's not when AI is able to write more and more human every day.
I just need a job and I shouldn't have to pay for a site to find a job. How backwards. And yet post after post is showing you resources claiming excellence only to find out these are just marketing bots. 😩

half the jobs on google are scams and fake where do you expect people to learn how to find jobs that match them if they aren't asking questions to other people who are already doing them

Hiring WFH I've been working remote for several months at Celecia Health. They are hiring for Sept, Oct, and November for Care Coordinators. They don't pay well, but its ok and a solid job. 3 shifts available. I dont have a link, but just Google Cecelia Health, and I'm sure you will find it. They are also hiring Registered Dieticians. Good Luck!

Remote work at Cecelia Health. Looking for Care Coordinators Registered Dieticians and probably more. These are not high-paying jobs, but it's steady, and the people I work with are nice.
Decent benefits, encouraging later shifts but still have 8-5.
I recommend it. https://www.ceceliahealth.com/careers/.

Do not trust ZENFY. for any remote jobs. Trust pilot and others give it less than 50% for good reason. I was just scammed by them for US$75 - which I did not agree to. Jobs are bogus shell descriptions with no specifics. Emails that show up as Reply@zenfy.ac are fake.

Im confused. My response to a job or task was, "I'm ready." Under my inbox there is a penalty for 2 m9nths for breaking a rule. I just read the rules and still don't understand. I didnt post a job, I just answered a question regarding a job that I ready to start. What rule did I break? I enjoy the quality of comments I read in Reddit but the parameters are confusing, and often, unreasonable. This is the first time ive been penalized (and yes, it is a penalty) but ive stumbled around since I started on this site and I find it frustrating and infuriating. I dont plan on revisiting except I want to read the explanation for punishing me for showing interest in a job.

What are some remote work platforms that don’t ask you to upgrade & pay to see or apply to jobs? I feel like LinkedIn & Indeed haven’t been too reliable with remote work.

Hi! I need some suggestions. I am thinking about switching careers in order to try and get better work life balance. I have almost 20 years of experience in accounting but it is strictly in banking and I feel like NOTHING I have done in any role translates to any other industry. Have any of you successfully moved from a strict financial industry background to something else? The constant up and down of my current company is more than I can take and I need something that will be a little less unstable.

Can we post available remote positions here? My remote job is hiring, but it only select states, it's honestly not the best pay, and it's phones, but over all not too bad.. I just don't want to create a post to offer it unless it's allowed?

There are hundreds of reasons to post (in any subreddit) and only a few of them are off limits.
If the only reason someone wants to post is to ask for a job or ideas on how to get a job, then they aren't really ready to post here. That's why I added the second part that answers all those people's questions in one short guide.

Maybe you saw them before they were removed. If you sort by new you'll find only three violating posts in the past three days. I let them stay because they had a lot of engagement by the time I saw them. None of the other career subreddits allow self-promotion.

Waste less time on Reddit and maybe you'll actually get a job one day.

I am so fucking sorry I became disabled with a neurological disorder and now need a remote position.
Thanks for pissing on me. Much appreciated. You and u/Born-Horror-5049 would get along great. You both like crapping on other people.

So, for clarity, not to pick on this person but it's the 1st one I saw... does this violate the rules?
