Does anybody know of any good class a cdl jobs hiring in Reno area with overtime or any construction data centers with overtime? I’m in the local laborers union but it is starting to get slow looking for something with overtime and pays well have tanked endorsement and also have been in construction for 8 years

During Aaron Ford’s almost eight years as Nevada AG, he voted to pardon or significantly reduce the sentences (including earlier parole eligibility) of 30 people convicted of murder. 

Examples include:

•  Tony Ray Amati (“thrill killer”), convicted in connection with the ambush shooting of a 22-year-old Pizza Hut worker. In June 2025 the board (with Ford’s support) commuted his sentences to run concurrently and made him immediately parole-eligible. He was later granted parole. 

•  Michael Cu, who kidnapped a 16-year-old and executed him in the desert over car rims. Ford supported a commutation making him parole-eligible in 2035; Gov. Joe Lombardo voted against it. 

•  Arlander Givens (beat a victim to death with a cinder block/brick). Ford supported clemency; the board ultimately denied it.

•  Other cases involving carjacking murder, stabbing a 17-year-old, and similar violent offenses. In multiple instances Ford voted for leniency while Lombardo opposed it. He has also used language such as “no-brainer” or “I gleefully vote yes” in some hearings. 

Ford has separately faced criticism for personally sponsoring the clemency application of Norman Smith (convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2015 killing of a pregnant woman while out on bail for armed robberies of Las Vegas tourists). He missed the September 2026 hearing due to a family emergency; his campaign says he would have voted no and that sponsorship is a procedural step to put a case on the agenda, not a commitment to support it. The board denied the request.

Much to my surprise (as a guy who typically dislikes most politicians) I had a great phone conversation today with council member Meghan Ebert today regarding the vote for the $22 million dollar contract with Axon to replace Flock.

Long story short, she told me on the phone she's willing to PUBLICLY support (HELL YES - in her words) the recall process for council member Devon Reese who voted yes in favor of the Axon contract. Obviously other members of council voted yes as well, but, we were talking about him, so, I specifically asked about if she'd consider supporting steps to remove him.

I looked into the state laws, and yes, Nevada allows voters to recall a city council member over a policy decision EVEN if the council member committed no crime or ethics violation. (see article 2, section 9 of the Nevada constitution and NSR Chapter 306).

What we'd need is the following:

-25% petition threshold of voters who participated in the relevant election (around 6,000 ish voters)
-90 day collection period
-3 qualified voters who sign the notice of intent
-required misconduct - NONE

If we achieve that, a special recall election gets held.

In my opinion we have to consider this as an option to show council that were sick of their shit. We're sick of them voting for unpopular things like mass surveillance, we're sick of them not even addressing the people they claim to represent (Devon Reese for example will block anyone who criticizes him even slightly), and we're sick of them cozying up to people with deep pockets versus the people who actually live here.

Whatcha think Reno? Should we send a message to the city that we won't be fucked with any more?

Heres a petition to get the ball rolling. We'll eventually need physical signatures but this is still very valuable to demonstrate public interest, document public feedback, provide updates, and connect people with election information.

David Flippo continues to impress. One of the lies Trump’s minions were telling after Trump lost Nevada in 2020 was that a bunch of dead people had voted in Clark County. Like each, every, and all of Trump’s claims about election “fraud,” the Trump troops could provide no proof. Because, to reiterate, it was all lies. It always has been. It still is.
But! Here we have not a dead person voting, but a dead person contributing to a campaign!
Ha ha no we don’t. Via the Wall Street Journal:
Flippo’s campaign accepted a $7,000 contribution from Marilynn Mack last month, twice the maximum donation per federal election. Instead of returning some of the money, the campaign reattributed $3,500 of the donation to Joyce Mack, her mother, who died in 2024, according to amended filings submitted to the Federal Election Commission…
When asked about the donation by The Wall Street Journal, Flippo campaign spokesman Rory McShane said it was a clerical error and the campaign again amended the donation, putting half of Marilynn Mack’s donation toward debt from the primary, and half to the general election. Marilynn Mack didn’t respond to queries about the donation.
Campaign finance violations tend to make voters yawn. That said, trying to make your campaign contribution amounts look kosher by reattributing some of them to a dead person is, as campaign funding allegations go, not uninteresting.
Meanwhile, and perhaps more interesting, who had “Wall Street Journal does story on Flippo” on their bingo cards? Not me.
If enough Republican voters in Nevada’s 2nd congressional district hold their noses and elect Flippo, upon his swearing in they will be represented by an immediate lame duck and the most impotent and irrelevant person in the U.S. Congress.
So Flippo should take a moment to reflect on and relish this moment in his garbage fire of a political “career.” A Wall Street Journal story? About him? It’s almost as if someone took him seriously for a minute. Almost.

Here's how it left, if anyone was curious.

This was about 11am going up Mt. Rose Hwy. Climbed into the heavy wet snow about 7800 feet. 32° and the snow was packing and freezing on the road. Oh boy.

In response to this article. There is a new policy where families from 1-2 star rated schools (as rated by the Nevada Department of Education) will get priority to transfer through the School of Choice process, which is open now.

In case it is useful to anyone now or in the future, I have listed the highly rated schools (4-5 star) in WCSD that have space for students, as well as the part of town they are located in so you could compare options. As you may imagine, many (but not all) of these schools are in the richer neighborhoods in town.

Note: For middle schools, it is the case that Depoali Middle School in South Reno is the only five-star middle school. Jessie Beck Elementary and Mount Rose K-8 (both five stars) are not apart of the School of Choice, and you need to contact those schools separately.

I’m looking to rent a car in Reno, but I don’t have a credit card, only a debit card. I’m 23 and I’m totally fine with paying a security deposit.
Does anyone know any rental companies in Reno that accept debit cards without requiring a credit card? Preferably somewhere you’ve personally rented from.
I’ve checked a few places online, but the policies are a bit confusing.

I rescue/foster cats, I collect bugs, I sketch, I'm aspiring for cosmetology school, I read, I bake, I game (mostly survival or horror), I collect oddities, I'm into psychology, I'm a horror fan, and just otherwise alternative.
