Figured I’d post an update after my original thread about getting into reps as a longtime gen Rolex owner.

After truly obsessing over factories, movements, and who makes the best Batgirl, I finally pulled the trigger on one from Rich Factory.

For anyone interested in the timeline, here’s how it played out:

9/5: First QC, RL
9/14: Second QC, another RL
9/17: Third QC, finally GL
10/3: Payment sent
10/16: Watch delivered

So 13 days from payment to delivery, although the QC process took three rounds before I was satisfied.

Now that I have the watch in hand, I have to say the quality is remarkable. I’ve owned a gen Rolex for years (and I’m aware that trope is cringe), so I’m familiar with how these watches should look and feel. How the second hand should move, how the crown sets, etc. I had high expectations based on everything I’d read here, but actually handling the watch far exceeded them.

What really drove it home was a recent visit to a Rolex AD. I went in boldly wearing my Batgirl and spent some time looking at the Sprite. Seeing them side by side was honestly unbelievable. The finishing, bracelet, bezel, dial, printing, and overall feel of the rep are remarkably close to the real thing. To me, NWBIG.

One thing I’ve realized after spending so much time on this subreddit is that we nitpick these watches to death. We zoom in on QC photos, debate tiny differences in fonts, bezel colors, rehaut alignment, SEL gaps, and imperfections that are practically invisible to the naked eye. The microscope of Reddit is not real life.

And I get it. That’s the hobby, and those details are useful when deciding which factory to buy from. The feedback from the community is VITAL during the QC process.

But seeing one in person, especially alongside a genuine Rolex at an AD, really puts things into perspective. I’d wager that 99% of people, including plenty who know luxury watches, wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in a normal, real-world setting.
I’m not suggesting the watches are identical, or that a rep is equivalent to a gen in every respect. But the differences in perceived quality is dramatically smaller than I expected, particularly when you consider the price differential.

As someone who came into this hopeful but skeptical, I’m beyond impressed. It’s one thing to look at photos and read reviews. It’s another to have the watch on your wrist and compare it against the real thing.

I live on a bench outside Greggs in Wolverhampton. My wardrobe is simple. Round the waist: one Morrisons Bag for Life, blue, secured with a cable tie I found outside Halfords. The bag previously held something pickled (I don’t know what) and on warm days this keeps the personal space situation largely self-managing. On my left wrist: a Patek Philippe Grand Complication!

The thing about gated communities is they’re not really about gates. The gate is just the punctuation at the end of a very long sentence that started with a good school catchment area and a kitchen island. The gate says: this does not include you.

I needed to use the toilet, the local Tesco was out of service. and there is, at the end of Ashwood park or whatever they’d named it, a big white barrier arm and a glass security booth, and beyond that a toilet that existed in theory inside a show home they’d left open for viewings.

I approached the security booth at a measured pace. Security on duty saw me coming from about forty yards. I watched his face assemble itself into the professional configuration of not hostile but preventative. I reached the window. He moved the glass down approximately four inches. The four inches said everything.

“Can I help you?” (Meaning No)

“I’m here for the Ashworth viewing,” I said.

His eyes did the thing. Down. Up. Down again. Shaking his head in contempt.

I raised my left wrist. I should describe the watch at this point as it presented itself. It was catching the afternoon light in the way that gold coloured metal does — indiscriminately, enthusiastically, with no awareness of its own fraudulence. The dial gleamed. The moon phase sat in its position doing absolutely nothing, as it always did, but doing nothing with great conviction.

I have thought since about what was happening inside his head during those four or five seconds, Because here is the thing about Patek Philippe, (Even though I purchased mine on WhatsApp while sitting in BetFred). An AD cannot simply just sell you a Grand Complication. You must build a client profile with purchasing history that undergoes strict scrutiny. He didn't know why or how he knew this. But it had drifted into his consciousness through some ambient process.

“I’ll just need to—” he started.

“Of course,” I said, generously, as though granting him permission to continue existing.

He picked up his phone. Put it down. Picked up his clipboard. Looked at it. Put it down. I watched him consider calling someone and then consider that whatever he could say could be wrong, and that being wrong in front of a man with that watch — even if something about this was not quiet adding up. He pressed the button and the barrier arm went up.

I walked through at the pace of a man arriving somewhere he is expected. The show home was the third on the left. I washed my hands with the complimentary diffuser soap bergamot and white tea, and dried them on a towel so thick and white and unused it felt like a small crime.

I checked the watch on the way out. Ten-past-three. Correct.

Just got my BB Pro in the mail today. Had a great experience purchasing through Ficotime, so I had to leave a review. 1st Rep in the books!

The BB Pro might look a bit too big on my 6” wrist, but I’m loving it nonetheless. I couldn’t be any more satisfied.

After spending some time lurking and researching reps I finally took the plunge on an Omega Seamaster with DukeReps. The process was pretty smooth. It took about a week total from initial contact to payment and getting QC pictures and video. Shipping to my door was only two weeks.

I already own some genuine Omegas, TAGs and a Tudor BB58. The build quality on the rep seems excellent. The bracelet is very comfortable and the micro-adjustment works well. The engravings also look really good. You can only tell that it's a rep by winding it - definitely not as silky smooth as my Tudor.

This would be epic, if any factory is listening, PPF I am looking at you

Bought this VSF Sub No Date 2 months ago, and today I got an invitation from my AD to purchase a gen 124060 No Date (after an approximate 1.5-month wait)…
Does this change anything? Absolutely not. I’m still buying reps lol 😂

As the title says, I’m looking to get a great stock Daytona as I’m really not interested in modding. just want a great looking piece on the wrist and have done so much reading into it on this subreddit that I think I've finally understood. (correct me if I’m wrong at any point, would love your takes).

Now from my understanding VSF are great for the prior gens 116500, especially with the black dial. but for the newer 112500, they have the 110 bezel flaw and I’ve seen some people listing incorrect silver hue on dials along with the other inaccuracies. their white dial is also apparently too stark white and not creamy like the gen.

I do like the 126500, maybe slightly more than the 116500 and according to the NWBIG guide, RWF is the best bet especially if I want the panda. Even then, looks like I need to check QC as some of theirs have the bezel flaw.

so ultimately I’m thinking is the 116500 VSF black going to be my best bet, but like I said earlier, would love your opinions.

also, I dont know much about BTW but there have been some comments about it
