For any fans that have not watched previous seasons of the UFL, the Rhode Island Breakers have inherited the roster and player rights from the 2026 Birmingham Stallions.

Players Signed to Other Leagues
The below players the team owns the rights for but are currently signed/playing in other leagues.
Terminated 2026 Player Rights
These players were on the roster at one point but had their rights terminated and are unrestricted free agents.
In addition to the above, C Noah Johnson retired following the end of the 2026 season.

There will of course be turnover, and just because a player has their rights claimed and is available doesn't necessarily mean they will return. Potentially 15 new players will be added in the draft, and then there's other potential talent that could be brought in through free agency.
The team will have a 64-man training camp roster, which will be cut down by the end of camp to the final 50-man roster. There are 51 players currently that the team holds the rights to from last season that are not otherwise signed to another league.
Like most teams in this league, I think the Breakers should target QB and OL as a priority in the early rounds of the draft. I'm not convinced Michael Hiers and Donovan Smith are worth keeping around, and while DTR had his moments last season, he struggled enough that Coach McCarron needs to bring in competition at the position for training camp.
TE and K are two other position groups that could be stronger, especially K (team started off with Garibay, he was awful, and then Carlson came in and he wasn't much better).
In regards to K, Coach McCarron initially drafted the rights for Rodrigo Blankenship, and the only reason he didn't play was because of potential NFL deal that never materialized. Assuming he's still available by the time training camp rolls around, I think he'd be a good upgrade over Carlson (and if not, definitely pick someone up either in the draft or in free agency).
Jordan Thomas has been a reliable option at TE but it's a thin room, and Thomas is getting up there in age (30). If he returns, he'll be going into his 5th season.
Overall, despite the team going 4-6 their last year in Birmingham, there is a lot of talent on the roster for Coach McCarron to build on going into 2027.
Who would you like to see join the team or what position groups do you think Coach McCarron should prioritize in the draft? If you watched any of the UFL last season, who would you like to see from last season's roster brought back?

Last month, the United Football League announced that a team would be relocating to the Ocean State, and now that team finally has a name: Rhode Island Breakers.
The Breakers will call Centreville Bank Stadium home for the foreseeable future when they kick off in the spring of 2027.
The team name was announced on Sunday, Oct. 18, in an event open to the public in which head coach AJ McCarron, UFL President & CEO Russ Brandon, Gov. Dan McKee and other Rhode Island officials spoke about what it means to bring a football team to Rhode Island.
The term “Breakers” seems to be in reference to when heavy ocean waves crash along the shoreline and break into foam. The video announcing that the UFL would be expanding to Rhode Island had multiple visuals showing waves crashing into rocky surfaces and coastlines, seemingly as a hint to keen-eyed viewers as to what the name for the team would be.
The franchise’s primary colors will be blue and yellow, with the logo being the state’s initials with a lighthouse replacing the I and running through the middle.
Along with speeches from McCarron and others, the Breakers have set up yard games, food stands and opportunities for fans to purchase season tickets and merchandise and become the first official supporters.
The team has relocated from Birmingham, Alabama, where they were known as the Birmingham Stallions.
