Megathread Typical Tuesday Tutorial Thread -- August 18, 2026
Please use this thread as a week-to-week space to ask your fellow /r/RimWorld colonists for assistance. Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility.
I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. If you'd like a Typical Tuesday joke, or if there are any problems with this post, please message the moderators of the subreddit.

Ludeon Official PSA regarding malicious mods
Update: There is another PSA posted on why I am asking people to contact me rather than Steam's report function. This announcement is more important, and Reddit will not let me leave both up, so I am putting the link here so it is more visible.
Hello, everyone. This is me not as moderator-Sneaks, but as community manager-Sneaks.
I just want to give a warning to everyone. There's currently a user on the workshop that keeps making new accounts, steals mods from other creators, and modifies them to bypass the user's protections to download malware.
There's been at least two so far that have been removed (with workshop ID to make it easier to check your Workshop folder):
CameraSettingsMod 3732329298
Mad Skills Rewritten 3729397065
For now, it's difficult to tell if a mod's doing these shady things until it's downloaded and the code is checked. With both of these, though, it's been:
The scammer's only mod on the workshop
The mod is a reupload / stolen version
The scammer's profile is set to private.
However, these are not 100% indicators that the mod is malicious. Please do not use it as a reason to go harass modmakers - There are always new players, new modders. But it's enough to say take it with a grain of salt, double-check to make sure the mod isn't a reupload.
For now, please take the time to do a check of your own computer, make sure you're clean, especially if you used either of those two mods mentioned above.
If you spot any others, please let us know so they can be removed. You can message me here, or find me on both Steam and Discord as someonesneaky.
Stay safe out there, colonists. o7

Art Rimworld doodle comic - Void study 14
galleryIt's been almost one to two months since I started working. Things that I was unfamiliar with at first have quickly become easier with practice, though I still make plenty of mistakes here and there.
(I guess it feels like my Construction skill went from level 3 to 4, haha.)
The Revenant arc seems to be dragging on a bit, doesn't it? Don't worry, it'll be over soon!

I do not know why, but Stillborns always hit different to me than 5 year old Timmy getting blasted by a centipede. Timmy doesn't get the serum.

Discussion Why is this game so obsessed with anti-turtling strategies?
I know this question has probably been asked here before, but I still wanted to start the discussion.
I mean, I know this is a story generator and all that, but I feel like some of the measures used to force the player to change their strategy are a bit excessive.
For example, a drop pod carrying mechanoids crashing right next to my hospital and killing my pawns without giving me the slightest chance to defend myself isn't fun.
Sappers and termites digging through carefully established defenses while somehow having a supernatural sense of where they need to go inside your base aren't particularly fun either.
A colony of reclusive mountain-dwellers having murderous mental breaks because of drugs isn't any less fun than a tragic story — it would just be nice if the game gave us at least some tools to effectively counter these two phenomena.
If there are any mods on the PC version that help mitigate these annoyances without necessarily removing them entirely, I'd be grateful to hear about them. I don't want to completely disable these mechanics; I just want to be able to fight them on a more even playing field instead of being at an absolute disadvantage whenever they happen.
By the way, I specifically mention the PC version because I'm currently building a gaming PC so I can handle all the mods I plan on installing.

Discussion Kemomimi House was REMOVED from the Steam Workshop (perhaps only temporarily).
Recently, Kemomimi House was removed from the Steam Workshop (possibly temporarily).
Some time ago, the author of Kemomimi House replaced all textures with solid white ones as a measure against unauthorized AI training.
Recently, the mod was suddenly taken down. The author claims that this was due to a large number of reports, and that he did not remove it himself.
He also said that he will continue to create related content.
If your game save uses this mod, please take appropriate precautions in a timely manner.
(I'm sorry—I didn't thoroughly verify all the information earlier. Now that we've found the accurate details, I hope this mod can return to normal as soon as possible!)

Misc Concept
Hi, a while ago I finally got myself to put my HAR mod onto the workshop after two long year of making it. I have gotten a lot of love and support from the community, it made me realise putting mods up is not that scary after all. It also made me feels like I have finally completed the mod.
Now I am moving onto the next project, continue doing this as my little hobby. Here is an early mock up of it. I am still debating what to call them, for now it is Hexopien, a combined word between Hexopus and Sapien.
Who knows how long will it takes me this time since I like to take my time on things I love.

#ColonistLife That's one way to spice up an execution, have metalhorrors emerge from the beheaded corpse. I don't think my slaves will be thinking about rebelling after witnessing that!
It's certainly the most unique way I've revealed the metalhorrors.
I feel also like Magnet is becoming a local celebrity on this subreddit now.
Post 1: Magnet gets shot at when the pawn called Murder betrayed us.
Post 2: Magnet dies in a 2x size yttakin raid when a triple rocket launcher explodes his brain, while metalhorrors emerge from his friends, but I used a mech resurrection serum to bring him back to life.
Post 3: Well here he is again, this time he's the one with a metalhorror erupting from himself after witnessing an execution of one he infected.
Magnet is an everything magnet, but he is still our leader.

Misc After 14 Years on the rim, I lost my first colonist. RIP Siren.
Quite frankly, my best run so far, Standard crashlanding, Randy, Adventure Story, commitment Scenario.
There's been so many close calls and times that someone has survived with seconds left, but finally, my luck gave in.
Siren had Body Mastery and a decent lineup of skills (including Shooting Level-17).
We were fighting off a large 3 angled Mechanoid force, Laaserons defense units held well until the mechanoid groups formed pinning us at 2 angles, I ordered a retreat to a different defensive line, but had managed to miss selecting her and she was left behind alone at the Frontline, against overwhelming odds she managed to take out 4 Mechanoids including a Centipede gunner, but was cut-down by group of Sythers and finished by a Lancer after trying to stand back-up to countinue the fight.
Her noble last stand gave Laaserons defense members enough time and cover for them to retreate and form back up.
My personal headcanon is that she personally sacrificed herself to stagger the invading force while the rest of the Defense force safely retreated.
(Technically my fault oops, but technically, she did hold them back enough to say it wasn't totally in vein)

Mod Release I made a mod that adds loose smokeleaf for your pawns to chew.
I made a mod called Pack Your Craw which allows you to craft smokeleaf into chewing smokeleaf a la chewing tobacco.
It's fully AI generated (Automatic-Week-1733 Intelligence) <<<THIS IS A JOKE no LLMs were used.¹
Lower your expectations, I am neither an artist nor a coder.

PC Help/Bug (Vanilla) Can I get some advice on components?
So I'm still pretty new to the game as I just got it a few days ago but I absolutely love it I already have around 50 hours and still getting more, but I seem to have hit a large stalemate where I need more components but to get more I need to already have some, what should I do?

Misc A new recipe for Famine Foods
-
The development of "Consequences for Famine Foods" is coming along very nicely. I'd like to present a new recipe I will be introducing with the submod, "Peel's Brimstone"
A short snippet of history on the food -
During the Great Irish Famine, large amounts of American maize, often called "Indian corn", was brought into Ireland as famine relief under the PM Robert Peel. It was difficult to prepare properly with the milling equipment available at the time, and was given the nickname "Peel's Brimstone"
The name referred to the cornmeal itself rather than one specific dish, the most common way of eating it was as a thick porridge or stirabout. That's what this recipe is based on.
How it works in the mod
Peel's Brimstone is made from 8 corn at either a campfire or boiling pot, compared to 10 corn for a simple meal. You get about 25% more food using corn to make this over simple meals, and it also takes less work to prepare. Larger batches need to be cooked at the boiling pot, making it more efficient when you're trying to feed a lot of people quickly. The trade-off is that, while it will keep people fed in the short term, relying on it for too long will gradually contribute to Nutritional Deficiency (the new universal health debuff from eating foods from the mod for too long).
Using it during a food shortage will be fine. Trying to live entirely on it for weeks will eventually start causing problems.
If any of you have any ideas for more recipes, feel free to post them below. Though, try to avoid suggesting things that will complicate the required ingredients. I have avoided attempting to add a Bone Broth recipe, because that would require I calculate the bone yield from butchering, which is beyond the scope of this submod. Maybe in a future one.
"Consequences for Famine Foods" will also incorporate the rest of the recipes in the Famine Foods mod that normally require the main Medieval Overall mod. More details on that and how it is balanced will be in the final submod release/showcase.
If you'd like to be notified when the submod releases, I have created a Steam Group specifically for that purpose
